Sallie Report 16 Feb 2011 22:58

Mo, nice to hear from you and to know that you are alright. Just take care and put your feet up and rest.

Sylvia, hope that you have a nice weekend away, visiting your friends.
Let's hope the snow will keep away at least, so that you can get out and about.

Pleased to hear that you recived your cheque for the generator. As you said it seems pointless buying another one if you've already made the decision to sell the cabin this year or next.

Ann, D sees the gentleman most mornings, so she's going to ask him if he's Julia's OH, and if she is, she'll ask if she's alright and tell him that all her friends on GR are worried about her. So let's hope we'll hear something very soon.

Goodnight to everyone, I'll be in touch again tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 17 Feb 2011 06:30

Yippee. I am feeling very triumphant. Last night I forgot to put the lid on the box in which I keep the bananas safe from the rats at night. One of them was partly chewed this morning. This afternoon I reset a trap which has been set for a long time in the kitchen, using a bit of the chewed banana, then I decided to get another trap from partway downstairs, just under the bathroom. It has been set there for ages and I have looked at it each time I have passed. When I went to get it it was on its side with a biiiiiiiiig rat in it. When I took it outside I found it was a mummy rat. I hope I dont get reported to the RSPCA, as I suspect she was feeding, so the young ones will probably die of hunger. I set the trap anyway with a bit more banana, and put it in the passage just outside the toilet where the calling cards have been for the last 2 or 3 nights. Tomorrow I must check under the bathroom for any sign of any nests with young 'uns. I wonder if I can persuade my cat to go under there and hunt them down. She just doesnt come indoors any more.

Huia who is happier now.

What a quiet lot you all are. I must have scared you off with the talk of rats.

Huia, off to take a much needed walk.

Mo in Kent Report 17 Feb 2011 20:15

Good evening girls.
Yes it's little ol me, back here to pester the life out of you.

Huia, I am the last person to worry about your rat situation, having been there myself.
It's not a pretty sight seeing the rat dead in a trap is it. I don't envy you trying to find the offspring of the mother rat. Oh by the way, I know this is going to sound stupid, but how did you know it was a female.?
We never even looked to see what sex our one was, it was out the door quicker than you could say "Jack Spratt".
I am not at all surprised that your cat,has taken to not coming in the house.
Ours was the same, and would run out of the door as soon as she heard the rat about.
Talk about a scaredy cat. lol
I hope you have enjoyed your little walk about today.
Sorry to read that Phil was a bit non-responsive at your last visit.

I hope Sylvia has a lovely weekend in Vancouver. She's a lucky lady isn't she, visiting all the places, we can only dream of.

Sallie, our elusive Julia is still missing then. What a shame the letter didn't get to her home.
Have you heard any more from the people who viewed your house.?

Ann, how are you and T doing. It was good to read back over the thread, and find that you and Sallie had kept it going for us.

So we are going to lose our Jean, for a week. We will miss your witty self Jean.
Oh and by the way honey, the chocolates that arrived with the flowers are delicious.
I have kept them all for myself, but if Roly is nice to me, I will let him have one.
I hope you both enjoy your holiday, but please take care how you go.

Heres hoping that Caz and Joyce are both bearing up as well, with all their difficulties. mwah to you both.

Marie, hows things over in OZ now. I hope the family are all well.

Linda, thank you for letting the Friendlies know that I have been under the weather.

Got to go now girls, sorry it's not as long a posting as normal, but I have to have a stretch now. Roll on getting these results, so I know what they can do for me.
Love to you all. Mo xxx

Huia, sorry you were talking to yourself, I didn't have much time to be on here earlier. This morning we were visiting our friend who is ill, we went to them for coffee, then we went for lunch, then we went food shopping. that is hard to do after eating a full meal. Then we came home for an hour or so, then had to go back out to pick up a parcel (my new camera) that the postie had tried to deliver while we were out. This evening I have been watching the soaps and playing with my camera.

Mo, good to see you chatting on here, don't overdo it though if it hurts to sit.

Huia

Huia Report 17 Feb 2011 22:48

Mo, I put the trap down so that the rat (which was caught by the head) was on its back. I could see 2 rows of nipples, one of which appeared to be bigger than the others, and it wasnt in the right place to be a male's you-know-what. I certainly hope it was a female anyway. If we can kill them all off the males are no good on their own, but lots of females, if there is only one male about .......... well, they would breed like rabbits probably.

Huia.

Hi girls, sorry I'm late today, I've been busy making cards today. It wasn't until this evening that I remembered that it's my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary on Saturday, they will have been married 39 years. So I had to make them a card, so that I can post it in the morning and hopefully they'll receive it on Saturday morning.

Mo, great to see you on here, take care and don't go overdoing things.

Huia, I'm pleased that you caught the rat, let's hope that it was the female you caught, and that you'll manage to catch some more. It's a shame you aren't able to get the pest control people to sort it out for you.

I must say you are very brave sorting out the problem yourself....I would run a mile if I seen one.

Joyce, hope that you are able to sort out your permit with the Dutch Authority, I would have thought that being married to Jan and the amount of years you've lived there, you shouldn't have to pay for a permit now.
I hope you are feeling a bit better, and that you are now able to get some sleep.

Caz, how are things with you? I'm thinking about you and hoping that you are feeling a little better.

Ann, is your friend that's ill, the one you sometimes meet at the garden centre for coffee.
Pleased that you've received your new camera and hope that it's all you expected to be.
Still no word from Julia, I'm afraid. Just hope that D will see the gentleman to ask him, and that it is Julia's OH.

Jean, are you packed ready for Saturday, hope you and J will have a good week. Take care the both of you.

Thinking of Sylvia and hope that her and OH will have a good weekend at Vancouver Island.

Marie, thinking of you and your family, and that you are all okay.

We haven't heard from Linda and Tess for a good while, hope that they are both alright.

Well I'll say goodnight now, speak to you tomorrow.

Take care.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Ann,my friend has just been when she first came over it was on her Irish passport, she has had alook at the dutch site for me we ask could you pay it in two halfs the answer was No,but Joan my friend said if its not in there bank before the date given they can trebble it as they did with something similar to her OH who is dutch,so she said when you have paid it then go and ask someone about it but first you have to pay the amount they want,

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Feb 2011 15:54

Well that sounds sensible Joyce as you don't want it trebled but make sure Jan asks after you've paid. It sounds as if it is a way of making money for them.

Hello ladies,

Joyce I've just been reading your posts on here, and agree with Ann, it certainly sounds as though it's a way of the government making money.
Have you made an appointment with your doctor yet? I really hope that he can do somrthing to help you. Take care.

When do your grt graddaughter have to come down to Nottingham, for her biopsy? I know you told me, but I have a memory like a sieve, I'm afraid,

Going to get on with some cards now, so I'll look in later on.

Mo in Kent Report 18 Feb 2011 16:58

Hello girls.
While I think of it, I will update you on my nephew. After phoning my brother and niece for information, and getting no response,I phoned my daughter this morning.
Well M's operation went well, and his reactions are good. He is still in I.C.U as the treatment they have given him, is a new proceedure, in that they wrap the cyst in the chemo, and they need to check that he does not have any bad reactions to it. He should be in Kings hospital for about ten days.

Little lilly had to go for her check up today, re her re-flux problems. All is well, and the medication is working well.
In fact she has gained even more weight, and now weighs in at 9lb 7oz.
I am so relieved, and the doctor said that she is a lively little girl,as she wriggled around on the weighing scales like a little worm.
She is such a pleasure to watch as she has just started to really smile, and it's not wind.

Oh Joyce I am so sorry, that you are still having problems. Life seems so unfair at times like this.

Thanks for the explanation about the sex of your rat. Just shows how little I know, but then, as I said before, I didnt get close enough to examine ours. Yuk.

Sallie, I cant believe that you forgot your brothers anniversary. LOL I don't even know when my brothers is either, not that I would send a card, especially being married to the wicked witch of the south.

Hi there Ann, how are you both.

Got to go for now girls, will try and pop in later. Cooking dinner at the moment, Pork chops and veggies, yummy.
Bye for now. Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 18 Feb 2011 21:02

Hello again girls,

Mo, it's good to hear that your nephew is alright after his operation. I hope that from now on all will go well for him, and that they wll get rid of the cyst, for good. Thinking about him and hope that he will soon be well again.

Lily sounds as though she's coming along in leaps and bounds, bless her. I'm so pleased to know that her check up went well.

Hope you enjoyed your pork chop and veg dinner.

Well Jean and J are off to Llandudno tomorrow, I hope they get some dry weather, at least.

Caz, hope you are feeling a little bit better to what you've been since starting the chemo. Thinking about you.

Joyce, I really hope that you will be able to sort your permit situation out, so hopefully you won't have to pay after this time.

Ann, hoping that you and T are both alright.
Still no news of Julia, just hoping that we'll hear something over the weekend, off J&M's friends.

Marie, hope all is well with you and your family.

Sylvia, hope that the weather is okay in Vancouver Island for you.

Huia, I hope that you have got rid of some more of your uninvited visitors.
Thinking of you. Take care.

I'm going to make a cuppa now, so speaak to you all tomorrow.
Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Sallie Report 19 Feb 2011 19:43

Oh dear, where has everyone gone. I know that Jean and Sylvia are away, I'm just wondering now if everyone else has gone away too.lol!

Well ladies, it's been wet, misty and cold here today, I hope it's better where you all are.

We haven't very far today, had to go to B&Q for a light fitting, and then to M&S to get a few bits of food that we needed. Just called in Jennie's while we were out, Michael was busy helping his neighbour to fix his car, but they didn't seem to be having much luck. His neighbours car was in M's garage so at least they were in the dry.

I'm been doing some baking this afternoon, so am now suffering from back ache......it's the standing that does it, so this evening I'm just going to some cards, at least I can sit down for that.....well most of the time anyway.

Mo, I hope you are feeling better today. Have you had anymore news about your nephew?

I had to laugh at the name you've given your brother's wife, I don't blame you, by what you've told us about her.....I'm sure I'd think of a worse name for her, than that.lolol!!

Richard has to work in Reading next week, the company are opening a new store there, so he's been asked if he would mind going to help them out, the new manager of the store has been in the store that Richard works in, so she's asked his manager if she can have Richard's help for a couple of weeks. So it will mean that Richard will have to use his car for a couple of weeks, where he usually walks to work. It's a good walk, but he says that it keeps him fit.

Ann, thank you for passing the message about Julia onto the thread on Chat, I felt awful that I hadn't, I just forgot about it completely.

Dawn has told J & M that as soon as she speaks to who she's sure is Julia's hubby she will let us know. It's amazing she sees him most mornings, but since M has told them about Julia, she hasn't seen him at all. That's just typical.lol!

I've been thinking a lot about Daff lately, I just hope and pray that she will get well soon, she was always the life and soul of the threads. I miss hearing from her, as I know you do and many others.

I know you go to the Lake District soon, but not sure when.

Caz and Joyce, hope you are both not in so much pain today, as you have been, and that you feel a bit more comfortable.

Huia, hope all is well with you, and that your uninvited visitors have now gone.
Hope Phil was alright when you last visited him, and that he was awake and alert while you were there.

Marie, thinking of you and your family and hope that you are all okay.

I hope that Sylvia is having a lovely weekend, and that the weather is good for them.

Also hope that Jean and J had a good journey to Llandudno and that the
weather will be kind to them, so they can get out and about.

Well, I'm going to get on with some cards now, so speak to you all later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hello girls.
Sorry to be so late in posting tonight, but we have had our lovely grandaughter and her boyfriend here since about 4.00p.m, and they have just left.
It's always a pleasure to see them.

Today has been a wet horrid day yet again. And apart from a quick pop to the shop, we have spent the day indoors, in the dry.

I hope you are you bearing up, under all the normal pressures of life.

Sallie, I have not had any news about my nephew today, so I am assuming that he is going along nicely.
You know what they say, "no news is good news."

I would like to thank Joyce for the lovely card, that I received today.
Thank you so much my lovely friend, it was so nice of you to make it for me. Especially as you have so many health problems, and yet you always think of others. Bless you darlin.

Right Sallie, it's time I made Roly a cup of tea, his tongue is hanging out.
Bye for now everyone, take care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 19 Feb 2011 20:16

I havent had any more calling cards since catching mummy rat, so hopefully that is it.

I went for a 1 hour walk yesterday and lost a little weight (but had to be firm with myself about eating goodies afterwards!). I might go for another walk soon, although I would rather be playing on here. All of the local walks involve some uphill stuff and I am not so keen on uphill, but I know it is better for me than the level stuff.

Off to get ready.

Huia.

Mo, you posted while I was typing.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Feb 2011 21:35

Huia Well done on not seeing any little rats since mummy went. Maybe she was pregnant and hadn't had them yet. And well done for doing the walking.

Sallie, that is worrying that your friend has not see Julia's husband. Somebody on the other thread said she remembered that he had a heart attack or stroke some time back so I hope nothing like that has happened. Oh dear it is a real worry.

I spent most of the afternoon getting a blog up and running with Jude's help. It is a scrap booking and card making blog. PM me if you want the url.

Sallie

Sallie Report 19 Feb 2011 22:11

Mo, your granddaughter that visited you this afternoon, was it the one that stayed with you while her parents were on holiday?

Huia, let's hope there'll be no more trouble now that the mummy rat is gone. Well done, I admire you for being able to sort the problem out yourself.

Enjoy more of your walks, and hope that you will shed a few more pound.

Ann, that day I met Julia she didn't mention anything about her OH having a slight stroke or heart attack. I met him when he came to pick Julia up, and he sat and chatted to us for about ten minutes. I hope that there is nothing wrong with either of them. I just wish I could find out something. I might get Jennie to bring their directory over when the come for lunch tomorrow, so that I can have a good look in it myself.

It's such a long time since she's posted, which is unusual for Julia, even when she goes into hospital as she does.

Hope you and T are both okay. Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

ps. meant to say that as I know Julia's hubby, I'm wondering whether to get Alun to take me round their area tomorrow, in the hope that I might see him. I don't know what else I can do....I could kick myself for not getting Julia's address.

Mo in Kent Report 19 Feb 2011 22:22

Hello again girls.
Sallie the grandaughter that came today, isn't the one who stayed with us when her parents went on holiday.
That one is the one who's dad left them last year, after their holiday.
The one that came today,is the one that works in a childrens nursery. She wanted to be the teaching assistant, but didn't have the qualifications.

Thank the lord you haven't found anymore little parcels around Huia.
The uphill walks, may be hard going for you, but just think how many calories you burn of every time you walk up one Huia.
Keep up the good work. How much weight have you lost so far.?

Well done on setting the blog up Ann. Thats something I would definately never be able to do.
The URL will be good for Sallie, Jean, Joyce and Caz.

I am away to my bed shortly, so I will say good night god bless you all.
Love Mo xxx
