Sallie Report 22 Feb 2011 20:31

Joyce, just seen your last post, I'm really sorry about the trouble that Jan's niece is having, and that she has to have another operation again. She really has had a very rough time.Let's hope that the operation will sort it out once and for all, and that everything will be a bit easier for her from now on. Please give her my best wishes when you speak to her next.

Joyce, it isn't very long since you lost your daughter, so it's only natural to still be upset about her. It will take a long time for you to come to terms with, a loss of one of your children whatever age, is the worse loss off all.
You'll shed many more tears over her, and it will slowly help you, but as Mo's said your daughter wouldn't want to see you making yourself ill over her.
So anytime you need us, we are all here for you, to listen and try and help you.

Huia, I knew you would be safe, because you're on the North Island, but I feel so very sorry about the people in Christchurch who have lost loved family, friends and their homes and businesses.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Joyce, Sallie has said it all for us. I too hope Jan's niece can get sorted soon with her leg.

Mo, Our problem is that we are so used to talking to people from Oz and NZ but we really have no idea of the geography of those places have we?

Sallie, send me your photos to put on. If I am away I think if you cans end them to Jude (you'd need her e mail addy), she would be able to add for you. Because she helped me set up the blog she also has access, but you will notice that anyhing she puts on the blog goes on under my name, except she signs it.
I think we are just going to have to bide our time and hope that eventually we here from Julia.

Huis, sorry you had another rat, still at least he is dead.

Did anyone see that story about those 8 swans shot in Somerset? Why would anyone want to do that? How cruel.

Hi all
xx

it was a physio day today, so I am very late getting on to the computer.

We were comparing notes about Christchurch

................ I have an internet friend who lives between Christchurch and Lyttelton (which was the epicentre of this 'quake). Fortunately, she is fine ...... she managed to get an email out this (Tuesday) morning to be passed around the group .............. her house was undamaged tho' it was shaken, but any of her little "treasures" that had not been broken in the September earthquake were broken this time.

Physio is from New Plymouth, on the North Island, but his father was from Christchurch, so he has quite a lot of relations down there, plus his niece had started at the uni just last month. He still has cousins that he had not heard about ............ but was going to have to wait until he finished work to go home and email his sister in New Plymouth and hope that she would have collected information by then.

Sallie ... MJ is one on March 9 ............. time flies!!

I have doctor's appointment tomorrow .............. need new prescriptions, but will also get the result of the colon test I did the other week.

Quiet on this thread so far today. Sylvia I saw about your friend whose house is still standing. Shame about all her precious possessions but at least she is safe.

This morning we had the boiler serviced and two taps changed in the bathroom. While the plumber and his mate were here OH registered and updated his (plumber's) Satnav because he didn't know how to do it on th PC so we had £25 knocked off the bill so we were pleased about that.

Then we went to T****s and did the weekly shop and got a 5p off a litre of petrol voucher. So not a bad day so far.

I'm here Mo, just nicely got the computer on. The doctor couldn't really tell me much as the nurse had taken the blood test too early last week, it should have been done this Monday or Tuesday to show how the chemo was working. When I got home my back was really bad so crept into the bedroom to lie flat, didn't get up till an hour ago so I'm late on here.
Huia I'm glad to see you are ok, I didn't know where in New Zealand you lived so was worried for you till I saw it on a thread that you were ok.

Love Caz xx

Mo in Kent Report 23 Feb 2011 18:51

Oh for goodness sake Caz, whats the matter with these people. It's bad enough you have had all this worry, that you now have to wait again. It's really not fair on you love.
So have you now got to have your bloods taken again this monday.
I could scream on your behalf. Your poor back will have to go through all this again soon.
We will still be leaving our chain of love ,good luck and blessing up for for you, ready for next time.ooooooooooooo-Caz's chain- ooooooooo.

Ann the people who shot the swans, need shooting themselves. Why would anyone want to hurt such beautiful creatures, who do no harm to man or beast , despicable thats what I think.
How lucky that T was able to update the plumbers sat nav, and to save some money on your bill, was a definate bonus.
I suppose that the £25.00 was soon swallowed up, on your visit to the supermarket.

Sylvia, thank goodness your friend is safe. It's such a worry when all these disasters occur, and we can't contact friends and family.
I am waiting to hear from my friends over there. I am not sure if they are on the south island or not. They are in Whangaparoar, Stanmore bay.
I think I may google in a minute to see what island it's on.
Good luck on the results of your colon test for tomorrow. How did your physio go today.

Be back soon going to google now.

Thank the lord, I have found them on north Island. Huia would have been able to have told me that. Dummmmm thats me.
I spelt the town wrong as well, Whangaparaoa is the correct spelling. And after googling the area it looks lovely.
Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 23 Feb 2011 20:16

Yes Mo, Whangaparaoa peninsula is north of Auckland. My sister in law lives in Stanmore Bay. It is just about a city on its own now. Houses everywhere. There used to be paddocks (fields) behind her house, with horses in, but now there are houses. There is a lovely sandy beach which s.i.l walks each morning with her dog.

Huia.

Oh Huia, I wish I could have spoken to you before now, I feel such a fool.
Stanmore Bay does look lovely, and I am envious of my friends. They moved out there about two years ago, to join their son and D.I.L.
My friends husband likes his game of golf, and I believe he plays somewhere local to them. You would probably know where it is.
Have you had any more of your little visitors. I do hope not love.

Hi All,

Just a quick look in. Hope everyone has had a good day, today.

Caz, I'm sorry that they couldn't tell you anything today. It's so maddening that the nurse gave you your last blood test too soon. You'd think she would have known that it was too early to give you a blood test, she couldn't have read your notes correctly.

We are all here for you, and are hoping and praying that all will be well for you. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and love. Take care.

Speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Well the sun has shone here all day today, it has been a beautiful spring day. We walked round for the papers and for a coffee in the garden centre, which is sadly to close in April and a new Tesco will eventually be built there.
T then spent an hour or so cleaning the cars inside and out (that's his spring cleaning, while I dusted through indoors. He then spent another hour out in the garden cutting back and weeding.
We will be away for a couple of days but I will have my lap top with me.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 24 Feb 2011 20:13

Good evening all.
Ann, we also have had a lovely sunny day. Infact I was able to put the washing out on the line, and I got it dried. Now thats thats a first for me this year.
Have a lovely time when you are away. Are you going to family.?
It's not long now till your holiday is it.

I managed to pull some weeds up from the back garden today as well.
Blessed chickweed is real nuisance in our garden, as soon as I get rid of it, it comes back.

Tomorrow, we are starting painting the lounge and dining room. A little bit of sun,and everything begins to look dirty.
We bought our paint yesterday at B+Q's,as it was pensioners day, and we got our discount, a saving of £6.00. It doesn't sound a lot, but every penny counts, doesn't it.

It's good news that the colon cancer test was negative Sylvia.
You have an arctic front coming in, and we have had a really glorious day today. But we wont hold our breath, as it's bound to change back to wet or cold weather, in a the blink of an eye.

Tomorrow night, we are out for a meal, for our grandaughters 16th birthday
It's going to be a bit spooky, we are going to be thirteen for dinner, wasn't that the name of a film.

(((((((((((HUGS FOR CAZ AND JOYCE)))))))))))

Bye for now girls, love and best wishes Mo xxx

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 25 Feb 2011 03:18

Hi all, so sorry I haven't been posting, haven't felt very cheerful at all and just can't seem to find enthusiasm for much! I have just read through lots of pages to see what's been happening to you all. I have been thinking about you.
Glad you are in a different part of NZ Huia, I did double check in my atlas to be sure you wouldn't be affected. How sad for all those affected by the earthquake. Also been sad for all the people in Egypt and Libya etc. We don't realise how lucky we are really altho I am very fed up with all the cuts DC has been making, soon it won't be safe to go out with fewer police around and other things cut right back.

O.h. has been on nights this week which feels odd, and I hate him being in bed when I am lol I try to get to bed and to sleep before he comes in so I don't hear him snoring. Next week he is back to late shift and then he has a week off, not from choice but because his company have changed the rules on holidays and making people take a week off in spring. I am not a happy bunny with the thought of him being around all week but he is going to stay with his son for the Sat and Sunday at the end of the week off. The son has a new job which he starts soon, so he won't have to travel so far every day. He would come out smelling of roses if he fell in a muck heap, that one! He only started looking for a change about two months ago. My poor lad can't find a new job cos most jobs want him to be able to drive and he failed his test again before Christmas. I spent some time with him last evening and he is so depressed and hard up, he hates the job he has at the mo.
I still haven't seen the baby, I asked about us going over for an afternoon but o.h. put obstacles in the way, and I don't want to go and stay overnight as I wouldn't get any sleep if I had to go to bed the same time as o.h. as he snores so much I can't nod off. I prefer to have a short weekend on my own here!
Apparently baby is now weighing just over a stone, and she is 17 weeks old, she is going to be a big girl I think. Lots of her aunts and her grandmother on her Mummy's side are big built altho her Mummy is slim.

My counselling is going ok, she is really good and caring and I am getting to the bottom of lots of things from my childhood which is where I think a lot of my problems come from.

My son has a neighbour who hoards and the housing assoc. who own her flat got worried about her and all the stuff there so have started sending someone round once a week to help her clear things out. My son says as soon as they go, she goes downstairs and brings lots of things back in. This hoarding ocd is such a difficult problem to crack.

Anyway my lovely friends, do take care and know I am thinking about you. I hope our Jean has had a good week's holiday.

love and hugs

Huia Report 25 Feb 2011 07:22

Liz, it is so lovely to see you posting on here. I hope you can get to grips with your problems soon. I do so wish I had that magic wand. But oi aint no fairy! More like a heffalump.

I went to town today, called in at the hospice shop and have now signed up to work there every Mon afternoon (except next Mon. when I have an appointment). I saw a beautiful red fluffy dog with one yellow ear and a yellow patch on one eye and on his tail. I bought it and took it when I went to visit Phil. He had just finished lunch and he seemed to like it. He was actually talking to me. I asked him what sort of dog it was. I said it wasnt the right shape to be a red setter, but he seemed to think it might be. I mentioned the greyhounds he used to work with at Wembley and he seemed to remember that. I left when he fell asleep, but it was good to have a bit of reaction from him, even if it was for only half an hour at most.

Huia.
