I will, Mo. Our postie is good, although I am not sure about the mail sorting centre. About 15 yrs ago 4 people were arrested for stealing from the mail there. And of course if you inserted any illegal substances or seeds in the envelope customs could have things to say. :-0

Sallie Report 13 Oct 2012 17:07

Hello girls,

Over the last couple of days I've been trying to find time to get back on here, been busy washing and ironing, shopping and card making.
It's really nice to be able to get my head around doing the usual things again.
We enjoyed a couple of days with Richard, who is a good deal better......as he went to the doctor early enough he was able to give Richard some tablets to stop it getting worse. Each tablet was 800mg. and he had to take five each day for seven days. By the time Alun and I got there he was over the worse, thank goodness. As Richard said, if he hadn't had any on his eyelid which became quite swollen he probably would not have gone to the doctors so soon.

Mo, hope the new tablets are agreeing with you and that you are feeling better.
I'm really sorry to hear that things are no better with your daughter. I would have thought that at least she would have thanked both you and Roly for the card and flowers for her birthday. Well Mo, I know how hurt you must be feeling inside, but at the end of the day it's her loss if that' the way she wants it.

How are things with Lilly? I hope that she is a lot better now, bless her.

Jean sorry you had such miserable weather in Llandudno and that it spoilt your holiday. Also hope you are feeling better than you were a couple of days ago.

Also hope that Jeff, D and family are all alright.

When is your grtgrandchild due? I know you told us, but sorry my memory isn't as good as it use to be.Old age I'm afraid.lolol!!

Ann, hope you and T are enjoying your holiday in Tenerife. I'm sure you are having much better weather than we are here.

Have you finished making all your Christmas cards? I have made quite a few over the last couple of months, but stil need to make a few special ones.

Hope all is well with your family.

Alun has a few days holiday towards the end of the week, so we are going down to see my brother, sister-in-law and niece on Friday, not sure whether we will stay until Saturday. Even though we stayed at Richard's a couple of nights and it was lovely to see him, I was happy to get home. I'm still finding it difficult to stay anywhere away from home.

I wonder where everyone else is! Hope Marie, Joyce, Sylvia, Jude, Linda and Lorraine are all okay.

Sending Caz love and good wishes and hope that she is feeling better soon. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Mo, I'm going to make my ' usual cuppa ' now, lol!!.... will speak to you all again soon.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes.Sallie.xxx

I bet you didn't make me a cuppa Sallie. I wondered why my tongue was hanging out earlier. lol
It's good to hear that you are coping better now, with things around the home.
Like you, I have become a home bird, and hate to be away for very long. I find I miss my home comforts, and need to go to my own bed at night, so that I can get a fairly good nights sleep.
If you are anything like me, I like my own mattress and pillows. Even when we do go away, I take my own pillows with me.
Lilly is fine Sallie, a proper little minx, who likes to get into everything, and touch things that she knows she shouldn't.
When she does touch things, she looks at you, and feels the object, and looks at her hand as if to say, it wasn't me it was my hand.
Today we have been extremely busy. We went shopping first thing, then over to our daughters house, to deliver her birthday card and flowers. Our great grandaughter was there, and we had cuddles from her.
We then went and saw J's three children, thats including Lilly.
And then this afternoon, our other daughter came, with her boyfriend and two of his children, plus her own three girls.
It was like casey's court here, with all of us tripping over each other. lol
During the week, our eldest son popped in to see us.
That means that this week, we have seen all our children, apart from one.
It's was nice to see them all.
Well I must go, as Strictly Come Dancing has just started, and I don't want to miss it.
Love and hugs to you all. Mo xxx

What wild weather we had yesterday. A tree in one place crashed onto the home-owners conservatory, wrecking it. At one stage I heard a loud rumble which I thought was thunder, but it was the two wooden deck-chairs on the verandah being blown across it. Later I went outside to try to photograph the sunset and was almost blown over. I had to lean on the house to take the photograph as the wind was blowing me so much. Our power went off for over an hour but luckily I had filled two 1litre flasks with boiling water earlier in the afternoon so was able to have some hot drinks. When the power came on again I tried to use the computer but it kept turning itself off, presumably because something was causing strong power surges, so I gave up for the evening. It seems to be behaving itself this morning.

Well just in case one of you pops onto the thread, I do hope you are all well, and that Ann and T are still enjoying their holiday.
I am still hobbling round on the ankle, but it feels a lot better than it did..
Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Hello to you all ,it is long lost Marie, sorry it has been awhile since I posted. I haven't been home very much in the past 5 weeks.
Firstly about 6 of my friend and I went on a trip to the Dandenong ranges in Victoria, it was the spring Festival of gardens, we stayed in a lovely big hotel it was very nice .
Each day we went out to the different gardens they were amazing we had a lovely time and the food was all Yummie .

When I came back I was only home for 6 days, then I went to Tuncurry where my daughter lives and stayed for about 10 days, we cleared out My granddaughter room as she will be home in 2 weeks time she has been on the Cruise ship in Canada with the dance company she said she is pleased to get out of there as it was freezing ,.
She will be home for a month then back to the cruise ship in USA.

They are going to the Bahamas and then to Italy she is so looking forward to being in the warmer climate.
The dancers are able to have time ashore,at all the Ports.

I will be going away again for a 3 day tour to the Hunter Valley of NSW,it is a very Large Grape growing area, there are many fine Winery's also ,the main attraction for us is the Hunter Valley Garden ,It was begun about 15 years ago it is very large and I have not seen it, I am looking forward to the visit.
I will take some photo's of it , that is( if I remember to take my Camera) which I
forgot when we went to Victoria.the brain is definetly ageing.
I hope you are all well Sallie, I am pleased you decided to stay abord the Ship Genes reunited it wouldn't be the same without you and all of the lovely ladies I have meet over the past years.

Hello friends, sorry just have not had time since we got back to come on here life has been a bit manic. In case you haven't seen this elsewhere I have copied it.

Finally got home at 2.30 am on Tuesday 16th managed 4 hours sleep and was then fit for nothing all Tuesday.

No the flight wasn't late, in fact it landed half an hour early. Got to the car park, finally located the car (multi storey car park and quite dark so we were a bit disoriented. clicked the key fob..... nothing, tried the manual key couldn't get it to open the door for ages, then it sudddenly opened it, tried engine, battery dead flat. Managed to get the cases into the back seat. (Boot won't open either.) called out Britania Rescue, they said an hour so we walked back to the arrivals terminal (the car park is only about 3 minutes walk from there), had a coffee and informed the NCP help desk, walked back to the car and Britania arrived fairly quickly, about 40 minutes. He managed to find the manual key hole for the boot where he expected to find the battery, but it wasn't there, he located a charging point in the 'engine' and soon had the car started. He was extremely helpful. Of course it was raining so there was a lot of spray on the motorway from trucks but we eventually got in at 2.30. The flight back was uneventful except that it was an older plane (Monarch) and the seats were extremely close together and uncomfortable and the woman in front just had to have hers pushed right back.

Anyway Tuesday was taken up with washing and ironing and trying to transfer money out of a M&S savings account to pay for the block paved front of the house which looks really good. By Wednesday T had spent four lots of 20 minutes hanging on the phone waiting for an answer. In the end he went to 'New custom' and a nice girl managed to get him transferred to the right department. They certainly don't want to part with your money! :-(

Then Wednesday morning was more washing (which dried on the line) then a hair appointment. In the afternoon we were at the hearing clinic to get my right hearing aid fixed, it went wrong (fell apart) the friday before we went away so I was operating with one aid for 2 weeks.

This morning we have our windows man fitting new doors from the lounge to the conservatory, then this afternoon I have the dreaded dermatology appointment where I shall probably have a couple of rodent ulcers removed and a few stitches. (Can't think why I don't look forward to that!)

Sallie, pleased to hear you are feeling better. I have made about 120 Christmas cards and want to get around to making more as soon as I can. Also pleased that Richard is better.
I often feel I don't want to be bothered going away, then I enjoy it when I make the effort. I think things are more effort as you get older and it would be easy to just give up. But then I feel if I do just give up and stay home I am wasting so many opportunities and I will start to really feel old. I take as an example an 80 year old we got friendly with some years back on holiday, never thought he was that old as when we were out and about he was the first one clambering over rocks.

Mo in UK I usually take my pillow with me, obviously can't do that when flying but the pillows this time were really comfortable as was the bed (2 singles made up as singles but pushed together).
Lovely to see your family but tiring when it is all at once I'm sure. Shame about your other daughter but what do her sisters/brother say about why she won't speak?

Marie, hello, so good to see you and to see what a lovely time you have been having, we love visiting gardens here so I envy you your trips.

Huia, gosh that sounded like wild weather, I keep meaning to say that I like your avatar photo.

Jean, I hope you are feeling better and Caz, still thinking of you so a few <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 for Jean and Caz.

Have I forgotten anyone? Hope not. Better get on with something now. Although no good dusting with the work going on, it always seems to get everywhere (and that is my excuse!) :-D :-D

Hello my friends, good to hear from you.
Goodness me Marie, you are a little gad about. All this travelling around is wonderful to hear about my love.
It certainly sounds like you had a grand time of it. And, theres more to come very soon. I am envious of you.
Your grandaughter is having the time of her life as well. Isn't it nice when the young ones get on well in their work, and enjoy doing it.

Please dont worry about me Marie, I will get over this.

Oh Ann, life is never dull where you are concerned is it. You and T haven't had the car very long have you?
I hope the workmen have cleared up after theirselves. Theres nothing worse than having to finish cleaning up when they have gone. Yes I know we do expect dust and a bit of dirt, but some workmen seem to leave a lot of rubbish behind them.

I seem to be suffering a few side affects from the flu jab I had on Monday.
Apart from a sore arm, I am suffering from running hot then cold, and a bit fluey in myself.
Still give it a couple of days and hopefully the symptoms will vanish.
Must go now, I am making curry for dinner tonight, so I had better get cracking.
Take care everyone. Love Mo xxx

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Oct 2012 17:27

Mo, I usually get a mild fluey cold after the jab, despite the fact that nurses and doctors say it doesn't happen, mine is due on 2 November. Just back from the hospital where I had one of the rodent ulcers removed, not a very big one but it was on my thigh and boy the injection hurt :-(

Yes we only had the car in august but the battery proved to be 8 years old and clapped out, I suppose nobody could be expected to know and we'd driven it all round Dorset since we had it. Got a new battery now with a 4 year guarantee.

Both the people who did the block paving and the fellow who fitted the door cleaned up beautifully, nothing for us to do at all. The window/door man is great he is very fussy about clearing up, both lots are local and used by everyone round here, they are great.

Mo in Kent Report 19 Oct 2012 15:29

Ann, it's nice when you can actually recommend a workman, not only for his work, but for his cleanliness following it.
We are still waiting for a quote for the renewal of our shed roof. It's a brick built shed, but the roof is made of a type of concrete.
The neighbours on both side of us, have been having the same problem as us with theirs, and that is, the rain comes in.
The neighbour next door but one, has found a man who has said that he will do the four shed roofs, at the same time, at a reasonable rate.
We have seen his work, as he built a garage for another of our neighbours, and made a good job of it.
But the way the weather is at the moment, I can't see that the work will be started till the new year, and thats if it dries up enough for it to be done then that is.
Obviously we would need for the rooves to dry out before they can be tackled.
In the mean time, if I want a bit of peace and quiet, I take myself out into the shed with a book, and read under my umbrella......( only joking ) no I take myself upstairs into my bedroom to read, that way there are no distractions, ie Roly having the T.V blaring.
I thought things would be better, when he got his new hearing aid, but gradually the volumme is increasing, and I am being deafened by the noise and distracted
from my book, and I cant have that, especially when I am away in some other land enjoying myself. lol

Well girls, another weekend is upon us. Has anyone got anything special planned?
We shall no doubt be doing the normal things, in other words, nothing special. :-\
Bye for now, will pop back later to see if anyone is around.

Mo we are waiting for a quote for our garage door now. It never stops. The spring went while we were away and the paving people had access to the garage. It was old and rusted so not their problem, had the spring mended butw ere warned the door needs replacing. The house is about30 years old I think so not suprising when things go wrong.

Oh and now T can't find the second car key, we had both in the car park in Birmingham so goodness knows where that one has gone. And, as theya re remote keys guess what.... they are expensive.

Let us know how it all goes please.
I am glad you got the letter o.k, and I hope there was no problems with what was inside.

Ah bless you Ann. It sounds like luck has gone out the front door, and left a devastating trail behind it.
I bet you are like me, and dont do the Lottery anymore. I did it a few times, and never got anywhere...just not my luck lol
The repair man didn't go off with your car key by mistake the other night did he?

It's throwing it down with rain here at the moment, a really miserable night.
Speak to you all tomorrow. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 20 Oct 2012 07:17

Hello Mo. No trouble with the contents of the letter, though I have to wait 3 weeks for results.

It was a great reunion. 40 of us there. I tried to kiss all the 'boys' though I might have missed some. I even kissed the 2 male teachers. I only hugged the female one, Tui Flower. I asked her (she is a cooking expert) what went wrong with the angel food cake I tried to make recently. She says it is probably the flour as American flour is much finer than ours.

There was a nice lunch, and I didnt overdo it too much. We had lots of photos taken. I must put some on my facebook page.

Mo, we spoke to the repair man, Birmingham airport lost property and T searched the car yesterday.

*sigh* I decided to search the car myself this morning as he was still fretting over the cost of a replacement set (£260). Guess what I found them between the seats where they'd fallen out of his pocket. MEN!!!! Why can't they look properly, I didn't go and look yesterday because he said "I've looked all over the car!". :-( :-( :-(

Mo in Kent Report 20 Oct 2012 14:02

Well I'm damned Ann. It's sooo typical that men lose things, and we ladies somehow manage to locate them, after they(according to the male) have searched everywhere.
No wonder T was in shock, with the cost of the new key being such a high price.
Good on yer girl for finding it, reet proud of yer I am. lol

Huia, what ages are the old teachers now? Fancy you kissing all the boys, you saucy little minx.
Let us know when you put the photo's on F.B, it will be nice to take a look at them.

Cheers for now me dears. Love Mo

Mo in Kent Report 21 Oct 2012 18:41

Well I don't know. Jean, I must be important, you have posted twice LOL
Thank you for the birthday wishes, I will let you know how it goes.
I have received several cards through the post, but have been very good, and not opened them till tomorrow. What a surprise I will have then, yippeeee.
It's not often that the postman delivers anything for me, he normally just puts junk mail through the door, and reminders for Roly for insurances that are up for renewal.
I hope you and the family are all well, but I am sorry to hear that you have had a few down days. Keep your chin up my lovely friend, I don't like to think of you being down in the dumps.

Ann, dont worry about the card my love, it's got to the stage where we all want to forget the birthdays that roll round dont we. LOL

When I got up this morning, there were two birthday cards in the letter box.
Sometime during the night, or early morning, the cards from my eldest daughter, and grandchildren had been put through the box.
At first I was quite upset about it, thinking that at least she could have knocked on the door.
But there and again, I suppose it's a start in the right direction.
I may have to be the one, to grab the bull by the horns, and go and speak to her about my stupid actions at the wedding.

Well, the rain has been non stop today, and it looks like it's going to be the same tomorrow.
So this is your web footed friend saying cheerio for now girls.
Take care of yourselves, love Mo xxx
