You certainly don't have much time to relax Huia do you. Don't overdo it will you?

Ann, I spent yesterday at home, playing on my computer and snoozing on the settee. Really lazy. Batteries all charged up again.

Hello girls, hope you are all okay today and slowly getting organised for Christmas. I'm getting there bit by bit, trying to get the cards and presents ready to take to the ones we are going to visit, my brother and family, my cousin, Alun's sister and family and of course Richard and Christie.

I was just going to come on here last night, but we got a phone call off Jennie asking Alun if he could take her up to where Michael works as he was feeling dizzy and sick so she had to drive the car home. We followed them to their house just to make sure that he wasn't ill on the way.
I'm not surprised he isn't very well, he went into work by 1.00pm on Monday and didn't finish until 5.00 am yesterday morning......he then had to back work at 1.00pm yesterday afternoon. This has been happening for about six weeks now, so no wonder that Michael and the others are so exhausted.

Jean, I really like the Grand Calibre it's much easier to use than the Cuttlebug. Yes I'm still doing cards although my concentration is
better some days than others, but I'm getting there.lolol!!
Have you got the ordinary Big Shot or the Big Shot Pro?

Jennie isn't making cards now, she says she hasn't got the patience, which is probably right. She is more into reading and of course the computer. I have always enjoyed reading myself, but haven't been able to concentrate on it for a good while now.

Hope that all is well with you, J, D and family.

Mo, how are things with you today? Hope that you and Roly are both okay.

Yes, that's the trouble with our son's working in retail, they both have to work on Boxing Day because of the sales. Although Richard is no longer working in the sales dept. but dealing with debt. which he likes better than sales he still has to go in on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Not sure that there will be anyone rushing in to pay what they owe on those two days.lolol!!!

Huia, you are certainly a very busy lady, well done on getting involved with these charities.

Ann, hope things are alright with both you and T.

Marie, also hope that all is well with you and your family.

We haven't seen Jude, Linda, Joyce and Liz on here for a good while. Hope they are all alright.

Well I must go and get ready to go and do the weekly shop now, so will speak to you all later.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello all,

Stayed inside today because the weather was not very nice until about 3pm when the sun showed its face. Other than that it rained all day and right through last night so everywhere is soggy.

T and I did quite a bit of h*******k this morning and also a load of washing which has dried on the rads. He didn't go to golf because it was too wet. I then wrapped a few more presents and got three ready for posting next week.

that just leaves one for friends plus daughter, son in law and one Grandson's to wrap plus T's. so plenty of time for those as not needed until Christmas itself. The others all had to be done early for delivery pre Christmas.

Sallie, yes thanks we are fine, trying to steer clear of colds, probably get one though when we visit Granddaughter and Grandson as they usually have them this time of year.

I hope that Michael has recovered from feeling poorly, it does sound as if it was exhaustion, hopefully a good nights sleep will have sorted it. :-)

Mo in Kent Report 21 Nov 2012 18:34

Cooee girls,
A big hello from a soaking wet Kent. It has rained nearly all day, and it's blowing a gale out there.
Like Ann, I have not put a foot outside the door today, and wont be venturing out tomorrow either, as we have to wait for the washing machine man to turn up when he feels like it. They just tell you he will be with you between 8.00a.m and 6.00 p.m, thats not very helpful is it.
The fault we notified them off, miraculously stopped on Monday, so now I have put the washing on again, and thank goodness it has returned. I would have felt a right idiot if it was silent when he turned up here.
Thank goodness T didn't go to golf Ann, you would have had twice the amount of washing to do, as he would have been all muddy.

Sallie, it does sound like Michael has been over doing things, perhaps he has got a dose of the flu virus thats going around as well.
I am like your Jennie, I love to read, and have always got my nose in a book. Normally I get through about three books a week, and am always popping into our local Sense shop,on the look out for new books.
The helpers in there put books by for me, if they get any new ones in, so I am very lucky. Mind you they are not brand new editions, just books that are new to me I might add.

Methinks I should sit and start my Christmas cards tonight, but hey I might not depends on how I feel later. But they will have to be done soon I suppose.
Still got to get the special ones for the family yet though. See I am so behind, normally I would have got them by now.

Time for a nice cuppa now, see you's all later.
Love and hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 21 Nov 2012 21:46

Hi girls,

Just slipped over to see Michael, he looks absolutely shattered, his eyes look heavy to so I think it's a combination of a head cold and the long hours he has had to work over the last six weeks or so.

When we arrived at their house,Michael had gone in to see his mate that lives next door to them who rung him, he was quite upset as when he got home from work today he found that his wife had left him for another man, and had taken their 13 year old daughter and their two dogs with her. I feel so sorry for both him and their 16 year old son, as they are really nice people. Apparently she met him on Facebook and has been meeting up with him during the day while they were all out at work and school.

Did you start writing your cards tonight Mo? I still have all mine to do, but must start getting some of them done as from now on over the next few weeks we will be visiting both sides of the family so will give them their presents and cards off us here. I must start to make a move on them.lol!!

Ann, I'll keep my fingers crossed that your Granddaughter and Grandson won't have colds when you see them soon....you and T don't want to be poorly over Christmas.

Well, like Mo did earlier I am going to make a nice cuppa now, so will chat to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Guess what Sallie, them there darned cards are still sitting in their boxes, unwritten
lol.
When I wrote the ones out that I posted abroad, they were covered in glitter, and yes, I ended up looking like a christmas decoration by the time I has finished writing them. I think that that is what is putting me off starting on the UK cards, as they are also glittery.
What a shame about Michaels mates wife leaving him, even more so this time of year. The poor son must also be feeling it, bless him.
I suppose he had no idea what was going on either.
This has got to be a short message as the washing machine man has just turned up, to repair my machine.
Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx

Sallie what a horrible shock for Michael's friend, especially just before Christmas. I wonder if the 13 year old wanted to go? If they have moved a long way she will be moving away from her friends. But what a cowardly thing to do not to tell him beforehand. I hope for her sake she doesn't find she has made a big mistake.

Posted my overseas cards this morning, 6 cards cost me over £8. Ouch! I am afraid next year I may be resorting to e cards for some of them.

Mo in Kent Report 22 Nov 2012 17:46

How stupid of me to think the machine would be repaired today....no the bearings have gone, and we need a new drum, soooo next Thursday is when it will be done.
He reckons I can still use it, and that it could last another six or seven weeks, but do I trust his judgement, and risk having a flood in my kitchen, hmm not sure.

I know what you mean about the cost of posting the cards Ann, it was the same for me.

Gammon steaks ,chips and peas for dinner, so byeee for now. Mo xxx

Sallie

Sallie Report 22 Nov 2012 21:20

Hello girls,

Mo, I don't think I would trust having the kitchen flooded, I'd rather wait a week and make sure, but then, I can be over cautious at times, or so I've been told by the family.lolol!!

My friend's husband bought a new Sat Nav today so came round so that Alun could register and update it on the computer for him....needless to say that they haven't got a computer. They had a problem with it as all the writing on it was either, German,French etc.....any language but English...... so it is being returned to the shop tomorrow.

Yes, it was a shock for Michael's mate to come home and find that his wife had left him for someone else, I feel so sorry for both him and their son......they rent the house they live in and she even took the rent book with her. I don't know why she needed that as well as their daughter and the two dogs.

Ann, I have thought the same as you about her taking the cowards way out and that one day she might realise she has made a big mistake. Only time will tell I suppose. I can't see that their daughter would have wanted to go, although her and her mum got on ok, she is also a daddy's girl so I'm sure she must be very upset about it all. Bless her, she's a lovely girl, reserved and a bit shy.

Well, I'm going to make myself a cuppa now, Alun is out at the club tonight and won't be home until almost eleven.

Mo, hope you and Roly enjoyed your gammon, peas and chips.

Speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oooh Sallie, I turned the washing machine on today, to wash the bedding. I was like a cat on a hot tin roof.
I watched over it all the time it was on, with lots of towels at the ready, just in case, but apart from it being extremely noisy, it was fine.
Don't think I will be using it very much now, before it gets repaired, it was so boring watching that washing going round and round in the drum, not nearly as good as watching the old goggle box. LOL
I remember when we first got our sat nav, we were supposed to be visiting our son in hospital, but it directed us to the creamatorium instead. We thought to ourselves," Thats a bit premature" our son was on the mend, not on his way out.
Did I tell you that our son has had his camera down the throat done, and he has got a Hiatus Hernia. Now he has to wait to hear how he is going to be treated for it.
The day he got diagnosed, we told him do not eat any spicy food, so what does he do, he takes his wife out for a meal the following night, to a Mexican Restuarant.
Sometimes I feel like we are talking to ourselves, when offering advice, so I think we should just save our breath dont you. ;-)
Hope to hear from you all later girls. Take care, love Mo xxx

Huia Report 23 Nov 2012 20:20

Mo, I discovered from the camera-down-the-throat that I have a hiatus hernia. I am not being treated for it. Phil had one for many years and used to take gaviscon tabs and later titralac tabs. His mother had had one and had an op but it didnt do any good apparently.

Huia

Huia Report 23 Nov 2012 20:23

On the other hand, my doc did prescribe some capsules to reduce the production of acid in the stomach, to try to stop my stupid cough, which she said was produced by the acid irritating the throat, so I suppose that is a cure for the h.h. It certainly has cured the cough to a large extent.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 23 Nov 2012 20:28

Thanks for that Huia, heres hoping that meds will work for my boy, he's not exactly the best of patients at the best of times, so after an operation he would be a nightmare. lol

JustJean Report 23 Nov 2012 21:10

Tell Roly he can join my hernia club , also Huia, its very elite we dont let riff raff in, I have had one for years and take tabs and watch what I ea,t eggs are a no no and spicy stuff, so he will be fine as long as he does what he is told....btw there is no charge for joining the club ;-) ;-) hows you doing hun , hope the cold has gone, and have you got me chrissie present yet, :-D :-D
big waves and hugs to everyone and hope you are all well , off to have a late tea, so bye for now...

Sallie Report 23 Nov 2012 23:04

Mo, so glad that you managed to get the washing done without any problems.... I'm sure I wouldn't have trusted it, but then I am a bit cowardly.lolol!! I hope you were able to get it dried on the line, I hate having to dry washing in the house, but I suppose it's now that time of year when we all have to dry it that way or tumble dry it.

My mother had a hiatus hernia for years, she was prescribed Tagamet tablets from being diagnosed with it......they certainly worked for her. Let's hope that whatever the medication he is given will work well for him too.

I had to chuckle at the tale of your Sat Nav directing you to the crematorium instead of the hospital, it was just as well that your son was a lot better.lol!!

Jean, hope you enjoyed your late tea. Also hope that you, J, D and
family are all well.

Huia, has your sister had her head shaved yet? Sorry can't remember what date you told us she was having it done.

Well, I'll say goodnight now so will speak to you tomorrow. Take care everyone.

Good evening ladies, how are we all today, well I hope.

Well I can see my son will be in his element, having all you lovely gals spoiling him when he joins your Hernia club. I am sure he will be thrilled to know he is in such an elite club.
I bet our Jean would make him do as he's told, and not eat the foods that he knows he shouldn't, but does.

And Jean, hush now, Santa is listening, and he wont bring you any presents, if you continue being naughty, and asking for presents...tut tut, you should know better.
So if he doesn't leave my pressie at your house on christmas eve, you will know why.
My cold seems to be at it's worst first thing of a morning. When I get up, my nose is streaming, and then the sneezing takes over, yuk nasty, especially when I am trying to prepare my breakfast. Not a pretty sight believe me.

Sallie, we laugh about the SatNav situation now, but at the time we were really cheesed off, as it was getting close to the visiting ending, and we had had quite a journey to get there in the first place, let alone being lost by the darned thing.

Right, it's time for my dinner now, sweet and sour chicken, and rice.
So bye for now girls, take care. Mo xxx

Whoops, clanger time, I must write 100 times read carefully ;-) ;-) ;-) sorry Roly wont be joining us in our elite club , but maybe a bit of young blood will be just the" injection " we need Huia :-D :-D
well my super duper leader of the gang, I hope you colds and sneezes will not affect the well oiled running of this thread, so keep you mask on !!! we have been smitten with colds too, D has had a reacurring one, but she soldiers on , what a trooper.... so stay put hun and keep warm hot toddys are good so its ok. to open the bottle of 5 star liquer I sent you 26 years ago.. go on you know you want to... my legs are smarting where Mo has whacked them, just for asking about my christmas gift, so learnt my lesson :-( :-( :-(

To change the subject... Sallie have you had a look on the craft channels at the Grand Calibur videos, they are great, loads of new ideas which I will have a go at with my Big Shot, its not the pro one... but its o.k. J has said he would buy me the Grand one if I want it, so I am thinking about it, there is an offer onC/C at the moment, tempting......I have just one more order to finish then shall take Anns advice and put the christmas stuff away....and have a rest, hope yours is coming along on time.... take care and dont overdue it...love to Jennie <3

another subject for your perusal and hopefully advice.....we have slugs in the kitchen :-0 :-0 J got a couple of tiny ones and now I have got a couple of bigger ones, I googled "slugs in the house" and was amazed at all the replies it appears its a common occurance, but not one I want!!! they look as though they are coming in from under the plinths at the bottom of the units...I scattered salt along the edges until we get a better solution, so its a look out you pesky critters we are coming to get YOU......
so if you have any thoughts on the matter I wait with bated breath ;-) ;-) ;-)
time for my second cuppa of the day take care and check you house dont want THEM getting to you...

Mo in Kent Report 25 Nov 2012 17:16

Jean, that boot leg licker you sent me 26 years ago, has gone. It evaporated into thin air honey, so I think you were HAD when you bought it.
The salesperson didnt by any chance go by the name of AL did he, cos it's AL gone now. Or perhaps it was Al Capone ;-) ;-) ;-)
To be honest, I thought that salt would have been the solution to the slugs. The only other solution would be to get something from Wil*o's, but most of them are for ouside use.
We bought some that was safe around animals, to use in our garden, but have never had cause to use it inside the home.
Yuk nasty slimey thing arn't they, I would rather see a snail than a slug any day.

Still another wet ,windy day today, I do hope it has been better in your neck of the woods.

No fresh news to tell you I am afraid, but keep yer chins up girls, it might be better tomorrow.
Love to you all, Mo xxx
