Mo in Kent Report 4 Dec 2012 19:34

Hi there Sylvia, sorry I forgot you were away love.
What a shame about R, life is a real Bu**er at times isn't it.
My lord, thats one heck of a journey that you are both undertaking Sylvia, 6 days.
I presume you take plenty of things to keep you entertained during the journey.
And I know how much you both enjoy the return journey, especially new years eve on the train,it must be a real thrill mixing with a variety of people, who you don't know from Adam. I know I would love it personally.
How old is your little man now? Our grandaughter will be two in January, and that time has flown by.
We had her today, and had such great fun, lets hope she is in such high spitits tomorrow again. Mind you, we are both feeling shattered now, so goodness only knows how we will feel by tomorrow night lol
Must make myself a nice hot drink now, as I am really cold at the moment, despite having the heating on.
Bye bye girls, love and hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 4 Dec 2012 22:31

Oh Sylvia, both Alun and I would love to do that train journey, it must be wonderful to travel all that way by train.

I'm sure you can't wait to see your grandson again and especially with it being Christmas time.

Mo, I've nearly finished buying pressies, just one or two smal things to get now. Janet and I went to Derby today and managed to get a few more things, so I will have to pack them now. Tonight I am writing the Christmas cards so that I can post them tomorrow.

I can't get over that Lilly will be two in January, it doesn't seem that long since she was born. I hope that she is alright now, with no more problems.

Jean, I just have three special cards left to make now, what with having to make birthday cards for November and December and travelling about the country, it's a case of trying to squeeze all the other things that need doing in between.lol!!

To be honest I am fed up of seeing all the Christmas card stuff about, I shall be glad when it's all put away.

Ann, I'm looking forward to going down to Wales on the weekend. It will be great to meet Sandie, Ann, and hopefully Jean in Abergavenny and of course it will be lovely to meet Jude again.

Huia, when is your sister having her hair shaved? Sorry if I've missed you telling us that she has had it done already.

Well I must go and finish write the cards now, so will speak tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

I know it's late, but I have just popped on with a message for Sallie.
Sallie if you look at Huia's avatar, she and her sister are on it following her sisters recent haircut.
Or maybe it's on Face Book that I have seen it, oh dear, I have taken my sleeping tablet, and my mind is going to sleep.
So I am off to my bed now, love Mo xxx

Huia Report 5 Dec 2012 05:55

Yes, I have the photo of me with my sister after she had her hair cut a week ago, as my avatar, Mo and Sallie.

Thanks Mo and Huia, I don't know why I didn't see the photo. I must have my eyes half closed quite a bit of the time just lately. Speak to you all later on today.

Mo thank you for the card, it arrived just now.

Sallie, looks like you are going to have a good meet.

sylvia, I think I have said before how much I'd love to do that rail journey.

Just finished decorating the Christmas tree, and realised that there is a box left up in the roof which T will have to get after golf. :-D

Sallie Report 5 Dec 2012 13:05

Well done on finishing your tree. I haven't even thought about starting mine yet, but after this weekend I will have more time, well hopefully.lol!!!

Coo love a duck that was quick Ann, I thought the cards would take days in arriving, hence the reason for an earlier posting. I just hope that I have got everyones addresses right.

Well girls, we had snow first thing this morning, but thank goodness it didn't lay.
Little Lilly's face was a picture when she saw it,never having seen it before. I had to open the net curtains on the patio doors, so that she could watch it falling.
We then took her to a large shopping centre close to us, and watching her face, looking at all the huge christmas decoraions, was a picture to behold, It's appreciating christmas for the first time, through a childs eyes, we were really choked up with emotion.
I can't wait to see her unwrapping her presents on christmas morning.

I hope you are all well, and coping whatever the weather conditions near you are like.
Take care, love Mo xxx

.Hi, Mo thank you for the lovely card, I have managed to get nearly all mine done and shut the craft room door, with it being mostly glass it gets very cold in the winter even with the radiator on and a small electric heater, boiling in summer when we get some, your trip out with Lily sounds lovely, memories to enjoy always...our littlie next door will be the same no doubt, so we will get to hear all about it. Just had a homemade cheese and onion pie with chips and peas, followed by a thick slice of my homemade Belgium Tea loaf with buuter on it,mmmmm..... its been a while since i di any home baking so tomorrow I hope to make Mary Berrys scones always come out well, another old recipe.

Sallie Report 6 Dec 2012 21:03

Mo and Ann thank you both for your Christmas cards.......I posted all my cards yesterday, so hope you'll get within the next day or two.

Mo, I can just imagine Lilly's face when she seen the Christmas lights in the shopping centre......oh that's a lovely age, they are all so full of wonder, but they can be very tiring for us golden oldies.lolol!!!

Jean, I was going to do some baking this week but up to now I haven't been able to find the time to do it. Hopefully after the next few days I will be able to get it done. You have just reminded me that I use to make a Belgium loaf a good few years back.....I think my cousin gave me the recipe but I don't know where it is now, I'll have to search for it.

I went up to town this morning, got a few more presents and after going to the bakers and butchers, I came home with it being so cold. It was nice to get back to a nice warm house and a hot cuppa.

Hope everyone else is alright. Take care.

Ann ............... I do indeed remember you saying that you would like to do the train trip :-D

it was a drizzly day here, but quite warm.

we are madly trying to get our cards done, ready to put them in the post by Tuesday. We really do not want to take any with us on the train to finish ................ we're still sending out 100 or more cards, most with letters.

I had to go to the Eye Care Clinic at the hospital this morning (ie, Thursday) to see a retinal specialist ........................

and the eye exam went really well :-D :-D

They took digital photos of below the surface of the retina, not just of the surface.

It tells the specialist what is going on below the surface ......................

.............. I was absolutely fascinated looking at the pictures on the computer.

Anyway, he found nothing wrong .............. but says it would not be a bad idea to go back every year or 2 years for them to do updates.

I also had a glaucoma test, with 3 different eye drops .................... it took about 3 hours for my eyes to get back to normal!

It really is getting manic around here!

take care everyone

Sylvia, good news about your eyes, I am always glad that my eyes are usually o.k. when I have my Glaucoma check up they did tell me I have early signs of cataracts, but they could take years to fully cover the eye, its awful icy conditions here very slippy so I am staying put although we should be going to the dentist before christmas....yuk....I have had a phone call from the doctors to go and have some blood taken, when i had my flu jab she said I need my bloods chaecked , but it was such a while ago I forgot it, now I am wondering why the are doing it, J didnt have to go.... hope your epic journey turns out to be a pleasant one and asafe one take care .....

Sallie is the Belgium cake/Loaf done in a saucepan,? look on a thread that Scozz has put up she tells how she makes a simular one in the microwave , I wonder if the recipe I use would do that way . have a read see what you think.....
note the time I am up doing this message I have been up since 3.45 its stupid hot burning legs and itchy skin on my hips cramp in both legs,so may a blood check may show why, its driving me mad.... I will go back to bed once himself is up and usually I have a nice sleep, well off to have another cuppa, sees you all later

love Jean xx

AnninGlos Report 7 Dec 2012 09:25

Jean I have a yearly blood check as the doctors have a Healthy heart annual check for people on various meds. But when you have the test, ask what they are checking (ours check everything) and also mention your itchy legs to the nurse in case it can be checked in the blood test.

Hello my lovelies.
It's great to come on here and read all your news.
Firstly, thank you for the card Ann. I had to giggle when Roly picked it up from the doormat, he said hmmm this one is for you, but you had him good and proper, when he saw both our names written inside. LOL
I don't know if he thinks I have got a secret admirer or what.

Sallie, your card arrived today as well my love, so thank you. The mail seems to be getting through pretty quickly at the moment.
I just wish that you all had not been talking about cake making though, I have got to wait till 8.30 tonight to eat.
I am going to the golf club with the girls from darts, for our christmas meal, and Roly has just got himself a kebab, and the talk of cake, and the smell of his food is making me feel really hungry.

Sylvia, thank goodness all went well with the retinal specialist.
It's wonderful what they can detect now with photographic retinopathy. I dont like it when they puff air into the eye. Even though you are expecting it, it still makes you jump. and blink your eyes.
And the drops they put in, yuk, it nearly always stings doesn't it.
Only a few days left before your departure. Even though you will be looking forwards to it, it's managing to fit in, all the things that need doing before you leave.

Jean, I am such a goodie two shoes, I had my dental check up a few weeks ago, and...I had to starve myself for my blood test this morning. All done now thank goodness, just need to wait ten days for the results.

Well my loves, I am going to have a quick cuppa, then run my bath.....No Jean, I am not taking the bath out for a run, I am putting water in it, to wash me body, and yes I know, theres plenty of body to wash between me spare tyres. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Bye for now, speak to you tomorrow. Love Mo xxx

Hello to all my friends on Genes Reunited.
I have read the last 5 pages, you are all so busy with Xmas cards and presents, I am still not finished with Birthdays for the year the last one on the 19th Dec., I am now only able to buy for the younger Grandchildren, it is just to costly to buy for all the family.

I will be visiting my Son Michael in Castlemain ,Victoria for Xmas, I am looking forward to seeing him and also the grandchildren.
I have written a few cards, but like the last few years I cant muster the enthusiasm for Xmas not since the break up of the family, it just makes me feel sad.

I received a phone call at 3 am on Thursday morning my daughter was in agony I rushed over to her home she was on the floor and was in so much pain the Ambulance arrived and they took her to hospital she was admitted and many tests done they ruled out gall bladder but she did have a urinary tract infection, they gave her antibiotics by injection and through the drip she has been with me.
Kathleen has been looking after Emily and Abigail their father arrived down this morning and will have them for the weekend.

Barbara has gone home to rest she is very tired and sore, she should be well by Monday I hope ,as she is a day care mother and she needs the money, when she has to cancel she does not get paid.

Kathleen had a setback a week ago she had a seizure the 1st. in a long while, she thinks that it was because she was very tired.

Our weather has been very nice lately but we need rain as the wind had dried all the lawns and we have had to use a lot of water to keep the garden going.

Mo I received your card thank you very much, how ever you did not give me your address, could you send it to me , Please.
I must close as I am very hungry and i have not eaten since breakfast.

I wish you all the best and hope you all have a wonderful Xmas and Health and Happiness for the year to come.

<3 <3 <3 Love Marie <3 :-D

A very Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year Sylvia.
Have a safe journey, and enjoy yourselves with the family. Speak to you when you get back love.

Hi the Marie, I will p.m my address to you in a minute love.
I do hope Barbara is feeling a little better now, and that Kathleen doesn't have another set back this side of Christmas.

Like you, I have another birthday within the family before christmas. My grandaughter will be 20 on the 23rd of December, and she will become a mother in February.

Does your son Michael live very far from you. I bet you will have a wonderful christmas.
Will you have a BBQ or a traditional xmas dinner?
My cousin over there, always have a BBQ, as she says it's far to hot to cook a full meal inside the house.
She was telling me how hot it had been over there, when she rang me last week. And was hoping for rain last Wednesday, as it was very dry everwhere.

Well girls, the meal last Friday was lovely. Traditional xmas fare. But the evening was spoilt by having a disco, rather than live music.
By eleven p.m, most of us had gone home, as we couldn't stand the racket.
The darts team have already booked for next year, but it's for a date when there will be a band playing, and we can get up and dance the night away, rather than be deafened. lol

Take care girls, love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi girls,

Wishing you and your family A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A EVERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to
Sylvia. Have a safe journey and enjoy your Christmas with your family.

Marie, I hope that Barbara is feeling a lot better by now and that Kathleen is alright now and that she doesn't suffer any more setbacks for a very long time.

Wishing you and your family A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Hope that you will have a safe journey and that you will have a lovely time with your son and his family.

Mp, pleased that you enjoyed the Christmas meal on Friday......shame about the disco being too loud, I bet you couldn't even hear yourself think. With it being too loud it spoils what would be a great night out.

Jean, I can't remember boiling the ingredients for the Belgium Loaf, as it's such a long time since I made it. I know someone gave me a recipe for a boiled fruit cake, but feel sure it wasn't the Belgium Loaf.

Thank you for your lovely card, it arrived this morning. I have a few more cards to post, they are already written,so will post them in the morning.

Huia, hope you are alright, it seems a while since I last ' spoke' to you.

Are you going anywhere for Christmas or are you at home?
Hope things aren't too bad with Phil at the moment.

We had a nice time at the Abergavenny meet on Saturday, lovelly food and great company.

It was lovely to meet more of the GR members......it's nice to be able to put a face to them when chatting on the threads.

Well I must go now got a few things to do, so will speak to you all soon.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx
