Sallie Report 26 Nov 2012 00:48

I'm very late tonight, I've had a busy couple of days trying to get myself organised making both special Christmas cards and birthday cards.

I came on here late last night, almost finished posting and I lost the whole lot......so maddening as I had almost finished writng it and it was too late to start again.

Alun is on holiday this week, so we are going up to see his sister and family one day and we are also going down to see Richard later in the week.

Jean, Alun said one way to get rid of slugs, is to put some beer into a small tin or container, they will go for the smell of it and will go up the side of the tin and fall into the beer and drown. They are horrible and slimy ....oh I hate the things.
Richard had a problem with them in the spare bedroom earlier in the year he just used salt to get rid of them. He has a ground floor flat, there are shrub and flower borders outside the bedroom windows and he had trouble after all the months of rain we all had.

I'll have to have a look at the craft programmes to see what I might be able to do with the GC. I really need to get some more of the bigger Spellbinders dies, but with them costing so much more than the regular sizes, I just have to buy them one or two at a time.

Mo, it hasn't been too bad here today, I was lucky enough to dry clothes out on the line today and yesterday, thank goodness. I think like most of the country we had a lot of heavy rain yesterday afternoon right through most of the night, so it was nice to see blue sky this morning and last a good few hours. We are lucky that we haven't had it so bad as some parts of the country.

Hello to all our friends on here, I hope you are all alright.

Well I'm off to bed now as it's way past my bedtime. Speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 29 Nov 2012 15:46

Oi saucy, I was at the head of the queue before you announced your great news.
Being your biggest fan, I had to be there to keep the rabble in check. And, I only charged them a fiver for your autograph, not the tenner you suggested. Ooops I presume you meant ten pounds, and not ahem...the ones that ladies wear, (or so I'm told )
Well done my love, you are such a clever kid, and I am proud to know you.
I expect to see you in front of Alan Sugar soon, with another great invention. MWAH
Love and hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 2 Dec 2012 22:13

Hi Ann, hope you have a safe journey home tomorrow. Alun and I went down to visit Richard on Wednesday and came home yesterday......we enjoyed a few days with him and Christie.

Mo, hope things are alright with you, Roly and family. Went to the Range with Jennie and Michael today, they bought Christmas pressies for their nieces and nephew. It was chaos there, so between that and being very cold, I was glad to get home.

Jean, how are things with you and the family? I hope that everyone's alright. We are going down to my brother's on Saturday and my sister-in-law and I are hoping to meet a few members off Shaun's thread in Abergavenny around lunch time, so looking forward to that.

Hello to all our absent friends on here. Hope you are all ok.

Hi, Sallie, how is the cardmaking doing with all your galavanting about (lucky you) I bet you wont have a lot of time to do any, I have stopped doing the cards for a while just three more orders then thats it, its too cold in the conservatory now even with the radiator full on and a small electric fire, I did do some rearranging in there yesterday, so things look a bit tidier now,I havent been out of the house for almost two weeks, I so hate winters. but tomorrow its time to get my hair permed always glad to have that done just cant manage it myself....
I have only got one chrissie present at the moment, not that we buy a lot, but it gets harder every year...D is the hardest to buy for, she has most gadgets and and cant have chocs or sweets, every time I ask its always " I have no idea"
but she doesnt want money either, so any ides?

Mo of course folk know we only have a bit of fun, well I know I do :-D :-D :-D
hope all is well with you and those you love, how is Roly? did you watch the darts on telly? not my cup of tea, but always think of you when I see they are on.... take care in the icy conditions, we have a skating rinnk right across the bottom the back D has got herself some shoes with studs in the heels, but still had to take care getting to her car, we think there is a leak somewhere near a neighbours house although we cant see anything, but there is always a big wet patch right down the back of the houses...
I am going to do some old fashioned baking , pies, scones tea loaf its a while since I did any so if I can stand long enough I will have a go....

waves~~~~~~~~~~ to everyone else hope all our friends are doing o.k. safe journey home Ann , love and hugs Jean xxx <3 <3

Hello everyone,
Sallie, I am really pleased with myself, all the presents are now bought, and wrapped, and hidden in the spare bedroom, so that nosey little people cant see them.
Today I have put a few decorations up, but the tree is not going to be put up till the weekend. We have got Lilly for three days this week, and the temptation of taking the baubles from it, may be to great for her.
Her mum and dad have put their tree up, and she is so fascinated by it, plus she has taken down the candy canes and eaten them already, little minx.

Jean, I made the stupid mistake of telling Roly that the darts were on, on Saturday.
Guess who had to sit through it for two whole days, yes moi. O.k I do like to play and watch darts, but for goodness sake, two days of it. That will teach me to keep my trap shut wont it. lol
You could make a fortune, if you started using that ice rink at the bottom of your garden for public use. If you charged a pound per person to use it, that would cover your winter fuel charges. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I do hope you are all taking care out there sweetheart, especially D. The last thing you need is any broken bones this side of christmas. Or at any time really.
I'm sorry I can't suggest what you could get for D for xmas, apart from some sort of clothing, like a nice jumper or cardigan.

Well done Huia, I shall take a look on FB later at your photo's.

Have a safe journey home Ann.

Thats all for now girls, take care, love to all. Mo xxx

Home again safely, despite traffic hold up on the A34 due we think to an accident on the M25 and trucks diverting to the A34, then traffic congestion in Gloucester due to an accident on an adjoining road and traffic backed up from that across our route. stopped at the big garden centre in Burford for coffee and a look round, lots of nice things there to look at, quite expensive things too.

Jean, doe D like smellies: Nice bath/shower cream, perfume, moisture cream. Or does she read? Books, book vouchers, Amazon voucher (if she has a kindle she can use a voucher for books on that). Warm tight, socks, sweater, scarf, gloves. Make up. Jewellery. Ornaments for her room. Does she collect anything?

Sallie glad you had a good weekend and hope you enjoy your trip to Wales next weekend.

Huia, well done, a good result again.

Hi Mo, I had to smile when you said get D a cardy or jumper :-D if you knew her you would know what I mean when i tell you , she likes funky , purple hair and tops with glitter and slogans on. rareley wears a coat, and likes anything wacky and funny, she wont ever act her age I fear, our little one next door adores her as will her grandson when he arrives they will have such fun together :-D :-D
Just ordered her a eeyore big mug as one of the pressies....loves maths any sort of number games, so I will look for a difficult puzzle for her too should keep her quiet for a few mins....lol...she is 50 next year so another headache doesnt do parties, so we try and send her away often ;-) ;-) ;-)

I know what you mean about trapped watching their sport on telly, D likes footy too so I usually escape tom my craft room, cant do with them both shout at the television......

time for a coffee me thinks back later....take care love Jean xx

Hi there Ann, good to hear you got home safetly. That M25 is a nightmare waiting to happen isn't it, there are always accidents on there.
Poor Roly has got to take friends up to Gatwick airport at 4.00a.m, and he has to go up the M25. That motorway really does scare the pants off me at the best of times, and I just hope and pray that Roly doesn't fall asleep going and coming back at that early hour.
I wish he hadn't agreed to take them if I am honest.

Jean, D sounds like a girl after me own heart. I love to wear my legging and a long jumper, to cover my BTM, oooh so comfy.
But I can't do without my coat, brrr I am such a chilly mortal.
I wouldn't go as far as purple hair now, but I did have that colour back in the late 60's, also I had pink hair and of course, when a colour went wrong at one time, green. lol

Must go and get my bath and get ready for darts. Bye for now. Love Mo xxx

Hi Mo
xx

and everyone
xxx

We got back from our little trip late on Friday afternoon ................... it was a good trip, but wet! It rained almost the whole time. We stayed in the house on the lot next door ............ so had to walk through the forest 2 or 3 times a day.

Poor R though is deteriorating ............... he is on a 3rd lot of drugs that is "hoped might help him". The other 2 didn't work for various reasons. This one seems to send him out into outer space at times. I think they might take him off it soon ......... he will be seeing one doctor this week, and another one next week.

On Saturday night, OH and I went out for dinner to our very favourite restaurant, and had a lovely meal. That was our treat, and beginning of Christmas for us ...............

.......... we leave Tuesday next week to get the train to our daughter's house. We are working hard to get everything ready!!

I have all the presents, though not wrapped. Won't do that until we get over there.

OH made the Christmas puddings last month ............. we have to take one small one with us.

I have done the draft Christmas letter, OH is checking it.

We have the Christmas cards .......... and hope to get the card signed, letter into card, envelope addressed, sealed and posted before we leave. It is quite a marathon to do it ........... we send out over 100 cards.

OH is busy making Quince jelly to give out as Christmas presents to workmates and others ............... he figures we need 50 - 60 jars!

I'm still trying to catch up on threads on GR

The train journey will take us 6 full days ................... we leave Vancouver at 8:30 pm on the 11th. Arrive in Toronto at 9:30 am on the 15th. Take another train to Montreal, arriving at about 3 pm. Then we have to stay the night in Montreal, and take a train at about 6:30 pm on the 16th, arriving in Halifax at about 5 pm on Monday the 17th.

Then we return on the train, leaving Halifax on December 28, and arriving in Vancouver on January 2nd. New Year will be "somewhere on the Prairies", between Saskatoon and the Alberta border.

It will be fun!

Take care everyone
