Ooh! Barbra, I've not had a cheese and onion pie since my Mum made them. I'll have to give it a go even though I'm hopeless at making pastry :-D :-D :-D

maggiewinchester Report 13 May 2018 00:04

Buy it ready made, then :-D
(I can't make pastry either)

or cakes.
and I've just 'mastered' mince :-S
So, daughter & son in law (and 3 year old grand daughter) liked my cottage pie last week.
They're staying here next week - guess what they're getting for dinner?

No, I'm determined to make pastry. OH makes a lovely shortcrust pastry, as did my Mum, so I've been too lazy to master the knack, well not lazy, spoilt :-D :-D

Allan

Allan Report 13 May 2018 00:16

Now that does take me back, Maggie :-D

I used to take a packed lunch to school and my Mum tried different fillings in the sandwiches.

If I said I liked a particular filling I would have it for the next several lunches until I couldn't face it again :-( :-(

Then when I asked for a change my Mum would give me stare (or glare) and say in a hurt tone "but you said you liked it!" :-D :-D :-D

Parents! :-D :-D

Hmmm, reminds me, I made a lasagne a couple of weeks ago...will have to rummage through the freezer, to see if its there!

Allan

Allan Report 13 May 2018 00:30

You don't think that it has walked away, do you, Bob? ;-) :-D :-D

Someone need an onion I've got a spare bought one forgot I already had one...see we're all getting seniors moments.
Allan you have your little moans, we all need to now and then.
Maggie glad you called it cottage pie, the number of times I correct people calling it a shepherds pie and there's no lamb in it :-)
Allan secret to good pastry...cold hands and carefully measure the ingredients....my husband makes better pastry than me cold hands!...I make great cakes and biscuits though :-D

I said 'Parents' before, but how about Children?

You spend the first two or three years teaching them how to walk and talk, and the next fifteen years telling them to sit down and shut up! :-D :-D

Allan

Allan Report 13 May 2018 00:44

Caroline, I make nice one-pot meals and can do a roast at a push. Used to make reasonable cakes and was taught to bake/cook by my Mum :-D

We don't have many cakes now due to us both cutting down on sugar, or in my case avoiding it altogether.

We do indulge in Christmas puddings as we have a recipe for microwave ones which we cook in a batch and then have throughout the year :-D :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 May 2018 02:17

Hmm think I should follow your diet plan Allan.... :-(

Allan

Allan Report 13 May 2018 06:14

The only diet plan I have is to dye it blue, after all, all woads lead to Rome ;-) :-D :-D

Barbra

Barbra Report 13 May 2018 10:38

Allan

Allan Report 13 May 2018 12:03

Barbra, somehow OH breaks all the rules for pastry making, except to overwork it, and it turns out perfectly :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 May 2018 13:32

That's because she's an angel Allan sent from Heaven to keep you on the right track :-D

Allan

Allan Report 13 May 2018 13:46
