okay, I'll stick my hand up (and neck out) to organise a Brissie meet. How about Southbank? Great cafes and restaurants and at least one pub (The Brittania Inn), amazing markets on the weekend. Right next to the museum and art gallery. And there are always the river cats for a cruise up the river. And the lagoon for those crazy enough to go swimming. And there is always my favourite...............Dooleys. But they can tell too many tales, so perhaps not.

It's baaaaack!!!!! hey guess what?? I have a copy of a portrait of my GGGG Grandmother Georgiana Partridge, artist John Partidge. Since Georgianas father is named John, we assume he is the artist. A rellie in Perth has just found a London artist John Partridge from that era who was portrait artist to Queen Victoria. He was born in Glasgow (explains why I've been unable to his birth in London) and he and his family lived in Grosvenor Square. Georgiana married into the Steains family who were big in the London stock exchange, so it's quite possible I've found my 5x g grandfather. Woohoo!!!

Lewella

Lewella Report 13 Mar 2006 01:21

Good for you, Rebs. We might nearly be related!!!! My 5 x great grandmother's sister, Lucy Philpot, taught music to Queen Victoria! Lew Lew xxx

Unknown Report 13 Mar 2006 01:23

Related?? God help us. lol! Just had a look on the net, Partridge Art is a very prestigious emporium in Bond St. London. Hells Bells, I could have been hobnobbing with the elite! time I shook out and preened my Leo mane I think. I'm feeling very deprived at the moment. lol!!

Lewella

Lewella Report 13 Mar 2006 01:25

Hob nobbing is definitely up my alley. I have pretensions to live up to! Yes, the thought of you and I related is a bit scarey, but couldn't we do some damage!!! Iol, Lew Lew xxx

Afternoon wafflers I suppose you are all full from eating lunch are you? Mongrels.......I hope your chooks turn into emus and kick your dunny down! I am having a glass of juice and a lemonade ice block for MY lunch :((( Still.....I have tomorrow nights dinner to look forward to. My nephew has promised me some prawns and I might just wash them down with a glass of unwooded charddy :o))). The thought of that is the only thing that's keeping me going. Hi Rebs.....Lara is right about your husband and the shopping being a ploy. I have used the same tactics myself on occasion. Hence I have not made white sauce from scratch for some years ha ha. I have managed to understand your name changes in the 'corner' ....but....'purple monkey dishwasher' the mind boggles!! A Brissie meet up in June??? Yayyyy :o))) I'll be there! {Trifley runs out of room to get accommodation directory. Limps back, panting.} Rebs..... let me know if there is one pub better than another to stay in. I can give someone a lift from the Gold Coast if they need it. Just pm me and we'll organise things. Let me see....how much weight can I lose in 2 1/2 months????? {Trots off to look for calculater} Fred.... luv your accent too mate. It took me awhile to get used to it but it's fine now hee heee :o) Hi Sandra in the 'Gong. I bet our Pommie friends are wondering where the hell that is in Oz. They wont find it in any atlas ha ha. I know what you mean about the hot matches. I have sent off messages to a lot of people in the last 6 weeks and have only had 3 replys. One HM who has 3 of my hubby's rels hasn't answered the 4 messages I've sent ....most annoying :( The joys of climbing the 'tree'. SuzyQ ...hellooooo...where the bl***y hell are youoooo? Let me know if you are thinking of going to the meet in Brissie. Donna was the water going over the spillway at the Hinze? I haven't had a chance to go up there yet, perhaps after tomorrow. If there is a lot of water there perhaps we could send some up to Brisbane....stop Campbell Newman (Brissie Mayor) from whingeing so much. It's time I had some more fluids so I'll see y'all later. Big hugs and waves to all the other Wattlers. Our 'little group is getting so big it is hard to mention everyone. Have a great arvo' everyone. luv Trifley
