Lol Sallie if I take my aid out I can't hear a thing on the phone!!!

Sallie

Sallie Report 30 May 2011 14:26

Ann, my left ear is not as bad as my right. You've now got me wondering how I'll manage if and when I lose my hearing completely in that ear, as I can hardly hear anything in my right ear. Surely there must be something out there that we can have to help us.

I thought that I would be able to use the phone, so I didn't ask anything about it when I had my hearing aid last Thursday.

Love Sallie.xx

You need to try, some phones I find better than others. We have 5 receivers on our main phone here, a couple I can hear the rest I can't. You can get special phones if you go on line to places that sell all sorts of things for the disabled.

Sallie

Sallie Report 30 May 2011 17:15

Ann, as you said I need to try different phones, as it's a bit of a pain having to pull my hearing aid out before being able to answer the phone.

I've e-mailed you the photos of my cards, so hope that you'll receive them OK.

Mo, hope things are alright with you. Do you have a darts match tonight?

If you have, I hope your team will win.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sallie your photos are on the blog. Lovely cards as usual. How do you post the easel cards, they look all strange shapes, do the collapse flat?

Sallie

Sallie Report 30 May 2011 17:32

Ann, thank you. Yes they collapse flat, although some of the people I send them to sometimes have a problem knowing how to open them,
I think they're frightened of breaking them. Bless them! I'll have to start putting instructions in the envelope on how to open them, lol!!

Huia Report 30 May 2011 23:03

I had a phone call this morning to tell me that my appointment for this afternoon had to be cancelled as the woman is sick. I now have an appointment for next Wednesday.

Sallie, I have a speaker button on my landline phone, if I press that when somebody rings (or before I ring them) I dont have to pick up the handpiece. The other person sounds very clear to me. I just have to remember to be facing the phone when I speak, otherwise they cannot catch what I say. At least with the handpiece I can turn every which way while talking. And some people find that I sound as if I am in a tunnel when I am talking on the speaker phone.

Hello to you all,
I have finally managed to get contact with this thread, I seem to be having all sort's of trouble but then so do other people.
I am so pleased to hear that Jeff is making some small progress, I hope it continues <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 thinking and praying for Jeff, Jean and family.

Hearing aid's I have been wearing one for several years now I find it comfortable on it's own, but if I have my glasses on all day my ear get's a bit sore, mine is automatic it adjust to the noise around me, I have it in my left ear as I only have partial hearing in that ear, my right ear is not as bad so when answering the phone I use it. I also have an attachment for the phone (which came with the aid) however I have never used it, but may have to if my right ear gets any worse.
I also have a button on the phone to make it louder which I always use.

It does take some time to get used to the adjustment I forget that I have mine in and have gotten into the shower with it on also into the pool at the Gym.
Because they are expensive I went and had it added to my content's insurance as I would not be able to find the money to replace it.

Our Government has a very good scheme in place for Senior Citizen's
The hearing test is free each year if needed & they supplement a certain amount towards the cost of the aid, so when I got mine I went for one that was able to do more things like the automatic adjustment.

I must go as I am making soup for the family , they are down at West Mead Hospital as Victoria is having x-rays and such on her leg and also her back to rule out if the pain is from the the Kidney's or the back.
My Love to you all ,
Marie

Hi Marie,

Lovely to hear from you. Like you, I had a lot of trouble with GR last week, besides the trouble that most people were having, I also had trouble with my account .....anyway it's all sorted now, thank goodness and hopefully stays that way.lolol!!

Like you I have very little hearing in my right ear, but my left ear is not so bad, so I can answer the phone using that ear...but wonder how I'll manage when my left ear gets worse. Oh well, it's no good worrying about it, I suppose it will get sorted when and if that happens.

I hope all will go well at the hospital for Victoria and that all the x-rays will be clear.

Jean, if you are looking in, I hope Jeff is still continuing to improve. Thinking about you all.

I have to go and get the ironing done now, so I'll speak to you all later.

Sallie Report 31 May 2011 12:42

Hi Ann, I've only just looked at your photo blog (instead of doing the ironing) and had no trouble getting on to it.

You certainly are a very good photographer, all your photos look as though they have been taken by a professional. They are all beautiful.
Well done.

Hello Everyone,

I've just read an update from Jean. Jeff has had a setback, he has fluid on his lungs, he has a stent in to drain the fluid, and the doctors are also going to try something else. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to Jean, Jeff and the family.

Speak to you all soon. Sallie.xxx

Good evening girls. It's little ol me, did ya miss me, NO, what do you mean No.

I received a p.m from Jean earlier, telling me of Jeff's setback. I can't belive how much poor Jeff, and also Jean, D+S are going through at the moment.
So come on girls, lets hold their hands, and keep them strong.

You will never believe what happened to us today. We went shopping in a local town, and found ourselves a nice parking spot,in a disabled bay where we had never been before.
Off we go, get our shopping, and venture back to the car, only to find we had got a parking ticket.
What said Roly, how can we get a ticket in a disabled parking space.
On reading the ticket, he discovered he had parked where people with trolleys were allowed to cross.
Stupid fool, had misread the markings on the road, and had parked on the walk way hatchings.
This is the first time ever, in the whole of his life that Roly has ever got a parking ticket.
Talk about his feeling as sick as a parrot, and a right idiot to boot, he is now kicking himself.
A £50.00 fine, or if he pays immediately it goes down to £25.00. It's ready to go in the post tomorrow, we are not waiting the 14 days they say you can have to pay it.
That was a very expensive shopping trip, I think I will go on my own next time, and spend the extra £25.00 on myself. LOL

Oooh I have just noticed the emoticons are not working again, oh blow it, will they ever get this site right again.

Well girls, I will say bye for now, take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

That was and expensive shopping trip that you went on today.....I'm not surprised that poor Roly is as sick as a parrot.lol!! Bless him!

Well I finally got the got the ironing done, yipeeeee!

Joyce rang me early this afternoon, she has an appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning so that she can find out if she has kidney problems, as the doctor at the airport think she might have. So let's hope that there won't be.

Thinking of Jean, Jeff and family. Sending you all love and positive thoughts.

oops Mo, an expensive shopping trip. Good job it was R and not you that parked!! Yes I wish they would get the emoticons sorted, just as we've got used to them they stop working :-D Or is it only the heart?

Huia

Huia Report 31 May 2011 22:37

I have emoticons now, which I didnt before, but I understand that there are a couple which are 'broken', the heart is one and I think the other is the wink. No, it is probably 'bored'. :-\

Let us see if it worked.
