Hi girls, it's laughable really about the radiators, the ladies get off the shopper bus with their coats and hats on and put the radiators on as they pass to their flats, so really there is no need for them on. When they go down to the comunity room they have cardigans on so they must think they need the heating on, it is always turned on full as well.
Talking about babies crawling, I can't remember my daughter crawling, she stood up in the bath one night, the big one, and walked from top to bottom then turned and grinned at me and MiL. That was it there was no stopping her from then on, she was all over the place, the two boys were a lot slower to walk.
My back is very bad today and my leg won't hold me up so I'm off to bed where I can't fall.

Love Caz xx

AnninGlos Report 7 Jun 2011 11:33

Caz, do you think the ladies think the radiators in the hall affect their flats?

Sorry that your back is bad today, just take it easy and try not to walk around too much. :-) :-)

Jean, GOOD LUCK to Debra with her exams today and tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that she will do really well in them.

Caz, you made me chuckle telling us about the ladies in their hats and coats turning the radiators on as they come in through the main front door.
I think it's a case of, 'we are paying for this heating in with our rent, so lets make sure we use it'. I know a couple of people like that unfortunately, out to get what they think is their 'fair dues'. and never mind anyone else.

I hope your back will be a bit easier after your afternoon rest. Take care.

Ann, before we came up here to live, like you I didn't have a clue where the East Midlands were. It includes Lincolnshire which I forgot about yesterday ( slap on wrist) as well as Nottinghamshire , Derbyshire .and Leicestershire..

Sylvia, you are going to visit your family on the day of my birthday. Are you going by train or flying this time?

You and hubby will certainly see a big difference in MJ this time. They grow up so quickly and we 'older ones' wonder where the time as gone to.

I'll look in again later on. Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

I suppose Is hould know where it is Sallie seeing that my ancestors, or some of them, came from Derbyshire.

Sallie Report 7 Jun 2011 14:22

Ann, I suppose you could say that, but over the years the county boundaries in Britain have changed so much, it isn't always easy to work out. Not sure either, how long the four counties together have been classed or known as the E, Midlands.

Hi all
xxx

very late today ...... I had physio today (Tuesday), and it always seems to mean I'm out and about all day!

It was a very strange day weatherwise .................. chilly and grey when I left the house, raining hard when I got off the second bus, so it was a very good job that I'd put on a windproof, waterproof, hooded jacket!

By the time I came out from physio, the sun was shining but it was cool.

By the time I'd met up with OH at the coffee shop, it was so warm that I took my jacket off and carried it!!

Sallie ..... we're flying over there, but we are coming home by train.

We wouldn't normally travel in July ............... July and August are the height of the tourist season, and not only are the planes and trains full, they're also about twice as expensive as in the winter.

However, we have been members of a Canadian association for well over 40 years, and they are having their annual meeting with about 5 other societies in Halifax beginning July 16 ............ so we decided to bite the bullet! We'll have a week with the family before the meeting, and then have the last evening with them before staying in the hotel near the train station .............. the coference got a very cheap rate at a very expensive hotel so we are going to take advantage of that for one night. The other 5 nights of the conference we'll be staying in a university residence. Haven't done that for years :-D

It isn't actually the tourists I dislike on the train ........ it's the tour guides! We've come across some horrors in previous years.

You know .... "I'm the leader of the group and we should get special preference for xxxxxx" attitude. I have very sharp elbows for when that happens!

take care everyone

Hi Girls,

Jean, I've just read your post about Jeff.....wonderful news. I'm so pleased and happy for you all.

Things seemed to be a little bit easier for Jennie last night, I just hope they will continue that way from now on. Thanks for the hugs for both of us.

Mo, like Jean I'm hoping that things are alright with you.... you've not been your usual chatty self on here lately.

Have you started knitting the scarves you said you were going to make as Christmas pressies?

Sylvia, it looks as though you are going to have very enjoyable time for the most of July. Oh, how I envy you the train journey home....Alun would give his right arm to be able to do that.

The weather is a bit funny here too, it doesn't seem to know what it's going to do... that's all I know is, that it isn't as warm as it should be for this time of the year.

Huia, that 'look in' was short, sharp and sweet.lol!! I hope you are alright and that all was well with Phil when you last visited him.

Well I have a few chores to do now before we go and do the weekly shopping.

~~~~~~~~~to all our friends on here. and hope that all is well with everyone.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Caz, hope all went well for you today, sorry I didn't realise that you were going, until Joyce rang me earlier on. Also hope that your back and legs are feeling a bit better. I'll speak to you later. Take care.
Joyce rang me this afternoon, she's still in bed and sounds awful, she's not feeling very good at all. She has an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, so let us hope that he can give her something to take for it.
Jan, is also poorly, but has struggled into work, when he should be at home.
Speak to you all soon.
Ye Ha, good news at last about Jeff. I am so, so pleased he is showing signs of being on the up and up.
It must be such a relief Jean for you all.(((((((((HUGS))))))))))
How did Debra's exams go, do you know. How does she think it went.?
We are on our way out very shortly, going for a meal with the family, for our grandaughters birthday.
Both of our babies will be there tonight, so I am hoping to get someone to take a photo, of myself with them both.
I will then forward it on to you.
Caz, I hope that things went o.k for you today.
Poor Joyce is still suffering I see, bless her, it's about time something turned out right for her.
Sallie, I have been very lazy, and not started on the scarves yet. It's been a bit to hot and sticky to do them.
Sylvia, it's sods law, that if the day starts out bad in the morning, that it will turn nice by the afternoon.
It's typical for us all, going out wrapped up in the morning, only to be sweating and swearing by dinner time. lol
Oh this darned site, it posted before I had finished typing.
I was going to say that I am envious of your train journey again. Will it be snowing again this time when you come home.?
Well girls, I must go now, as our meal is at 6.00p.m, and it's now 5.00 p.m
Hopefully I will be back tonight to let you know how it went.
Love to you all. Mo xxx
Sallie I didn't go I had a bad fall in the bathroom so Philip had to ring and cancel it, I was all ready to set off and had just brushed my teeth so whether it was reaching up to put my brush back that knocked me off balance I don't know. I hurt my hip badly so had to spend the day in bed, got a lovely bruise.
Can't sit so must go.
Expensive day for me today. Car went for its MOT (My car). MOT woas free because I had it serviced. Then I had a door fixed which wasn't working on the central locking - £91 for the solenoid plus labour £150 altogether. total with full service oil change etc £365.
We always go to the same garage and they are pretty genuine but the bit that always gets me is "screen wash 50p"
And then there is the £50 VAT on top which makes it up to the £365.
Mo in Kent Report 8 Jun 2011 22:00
Oh my word I didn't realise that this darned site had posted twice earlier.
Sorry Ann, I didn't mean for it to sound like I was shouting. LOL
Good grief Ann, that was in a way an expensive MOT. Ours is due next month, and I am dreading it.
We always take it to our local F*rd dealership, and every time they tell us the brakes need doing. Well my son in law is a mechanic, and he always checks the car afterwards, and nine out of ten times there is plenty of meat left on the pads, and they don't need doing.
It's even worse when a woman takes a car in for it's MOT, they seem to think they can get away with blue murder.
Well we had a lovely meal, there were 15 of us there, thats including the two babies.
The only thing wrong was that the service was atrocious. We waited sooo long for the main meal, and then I had to go and search for the waitress to order desserts.
Well they never got a tip this time, thats for certain. Every other time we have been to this restuarant, we have had good service, but not tonight.
I only had Gammon Steak, new potato's and peas, couldn't be bothered with a dessert though, I was to full up.
I will say good night god bless,speak to you all tomorrow. Love Mo xxx
AnninGlos Report 8 Jun 2011 22:26
Glad you enjoyed your meal Mo. But bad service is really annoying isn't it.
the thing is the car passed its MOT no problem, it was the service and fixing the door that was expensive.
Good morning girls, when you get on here.
I went to the library in town today and did a bit of research for a member of GR, then looked around some shops and had lunch, then went to visit Phil. Not quite as good as last week, but at least he was awake and talking a bit.
I have had my dinner and washed the dishes, so can relax now before bed.
