Hi all
xxx

Huia ... do hope your knee feels better today.

i agree with Caz, always feel so stupid when I fall .............. as I did last year after I'd got off the bus!

Linda ..... hope things are improving with your parents.

Sallie ... do hope Jennie is improving

OH is picking up the chainsaw this afternoon ............. he had to take it into the repair place because it wouldn't start.

He also had to take the car and trailer into the garage ............. the trailer indicator lights wouldn't work after he hitched it up. Years ago, he tried to correct a similar problem with our old car ...... couldn't get the trailer lights to work, and eventually took it to "our" garage man. Response was "why don't you stick to what you can do very well, and leave it up to us to do car stuff?"!!

The problem this time turned out to be a car problem ............ the "module" was not working and needed replacing. $350 later .....................

We're going to take my computer into the GoGo Geek hospital in a couple of hours for its annual check-up ........... they'll do it while we are away.

I'm not sure whether we will get back early enough on Tuesday to pick it up or whether I'll have to wait until Wednesday

Take care everyone

Morning all
Thanks for the thoughts for my parents. I didn't get any updates yesterday as I was away on a day trip to France. I think today will be decision day as to whether Dad needs a further operation or can go home. And dendant upon that as to whether Mum is well enough to go back to respite and eventually back home if Dad is well enough to care for her himself. I will keep you updated.

It is very wet here today, not far from Ascot so Ladies Day isn't looking good.

Think we might get a bit more decorating done today as I don't think we will get much gardening done LOL

Have a good day everyone

I am wondering if my rotten cold might be a new version of fllu. It certainly feels that way. I have spent most of the day sleeping and will probably go to bed soon, though I dont know if I will get to sleep after all the sleep I have had today. I could be on here in the wee small hours again!

Ah well, I dont have to go anywhere tomorrow. I cancelled my appointment with the H.A. people as I just felt so woozy. I have another appointment for next week.

Huia, all that trouble just to get a man to pick you up. I will have to try it sometime.

I hope that your knee stops giving you pain soon.
Perhaps you are having trouble hearing, even with the aids, because of you cold/flu, maybe you are "bunged up" in the ear, nose, throat region.
Good idea though to take the phones with you when you go for your appointment. I hope that you feel up to going for the rearranged one next week.

Linda, I hope that you enjoyed your day trip in France and were able to leave your troubles behind.
Am sending your parents healing vibes.
Hope that the decorating goes well.

Sylvia, gosh! $350! I hope that you computer does well at the computer hospital. Will keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't get MRSA or any other super bug.

Sallie, if you were living at my house when you were making the casserole, you would have had an excuse for not putting in the stock.
My water was off earlier in the day, it had gorn! Luckily it is back again now, so I am about to drink my second cup of Chai.
I hope that Jennie regains her appetite and that her appointment is helpful.
Jean, glad to hear that the flowers are still looking good and that Jeff is improving. Will be reading Cazz's thread later.

My new specs. should be ready early next week. I need to sort out stuff to take to the charity shops nearby. Then I will have less junk in the way here.

I fell asleep quickly when i went to be, although it was a restless sleep as I had to keep blowing my nose, and a helicopter landed down the road somewhere. I hope nobody had a medical emergency, although I suspect it would be for that. I woke half an hour ago and couldnt get back to sleep so I have had a drink of horlicks and am playing on here for a while.

Good evening girls.
Tess, were they doing repairs to the mains near you, when your water went off.
It surely can't be because of a water shortage, not with all the rain we have had lately.
I know they were talking about imposing a hose pipe ban not so long ago. I wonder if it will still be put in place.

Linda, my friends daughter is doing security duty at ascot this week. She was in the royal box yesterday.
I'm a typical goggle box watcher, when someone I know will be on the screen, but I never ever spot them.
I hope mum and dad are still improving. Is there any news on what is going to be happening with them yet.

Huia, that helicopter landing not far away from you, was responding to an emergency call, someone had heard you blowing your nose, and thought you were calling for help. ;-)
I hope you are feeling a bit better now. Things always get worse at night don't they, especially when laying down.
You take care of yourself love.

Jean, fabulous news about Jeff,god bless him, he is made of very strong stuff.
I hope you Debra and Steven, can get a bit more rest now, knowing he is on the road to recovery.

Take care everyone, love and best wishes Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Caz, if you're looking in, I hope that there was an improvement in Phil's condition when you visited him tonight. Let's hope that he won't be in hospital very long and that he'll soon be home with you.

Hope that you are managing to cope on your own, it must be very difficult for you. Thinking about both of you, and sending love and positive thoughts.

Jean, so pleased to know that Jeff is doing so well and hope that it won't be too long before he is home.

Tess, I wish I had had that excuse when I did the casserole...... unfortunately, I only have my age as an excuse.lol!!

Anyway I hope that you haven't had anymore trouble with the water being turned off, since then.

I was speaking to Joyce earlier this afternoon, her doctor sent her to the hospital for a chest xray this morning, she will get the result tomorrow.
So let's hope that the result will be alright.

Jennie, went to see the IBD nurse this afternoon, she is sending Jennie an appointment with the Consultant for next Thursday, as she is very concerned about her. I must say that Jennie looks awful, and still has little or no appetite. She also had the usual blood tests that she has when she goes to the clinic, and if there is a problem with the results the nurse will ring Jennie tomorrow. So, I just hope and pray that she will be alright....... Qh well, we shall have to wait see.

Linda, hope that your mum and dad are a bit better, and that things will get sorted for them very soon.

Mo, if you are playing in a darts match tonight, hope your team will win.

Huia, hope you managed to get back to sleep after your mug of Horlicks.

~~~~~~~to all our other friends on here.
Thinking about you all, Take care.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Hi girls, thank you for your comments and thoughts for Philip, I went to see him last night and he looks better, he will be in over the weekend but I won't be able to go see him as I have no one to take me. I can't use a taxi as I have to have someone with me all the time as I am so unstable on my feet and crutches, can't use my wheelchair with fibro in my arms. I am missing him and the flat feels empty so I am hoping he can come home soon, but only if he is better. I am managing to muddle through but if I didn't have my sister nearby I would be stuck.
Hello everyone.
We have just come back from our grandsons birthday party. He thinks it's great as he is now 11 years old.
He's so excited as he goes up to the senior school in September. My son took him out this morning to buy him some new clothes for his birthday. He is such a lovely child, I dread to think how much he will change when he goes to what we class as the big school.
At our ages, we all know that children do change drastically, in a very short time. I just wish I could wrap him up in bubble wrap, and let him stay as he is now.
Marie, I wouldn't blame anyone for not getting on a plane, with all that Volcanic ash hanging around.
Are you having a holiday this year Marie?. We are going up country to Blackpool in October, to Jeans neck of the woods. But the way things are, Jean will probably be away on holiday by then. Especially if Jeff continues to improve the way he is.
Caz I hope that Phil is continuing to improve. And that you are managing to cope on your own.
Sallie, I am fed up of this site, like you I am cheesed of with writing out long posts, and then they vanish before I get a chance to send them.
I have got a raging sore throat, streaming nose and headache at the moment. There is a viral infection going around this area, and it feels like I may be going to suffer with it. Oh boy, just what I needed.
Take care girls. Love to you all. Mo xxx
I am so sorry Mo, you must have caught it from me! I am coming right now though. I might visit Phil today and do some shopping then when I come home I might have a shower and wash my hair. I havent done it since I went down with this bug.
I have started a new blogspot, buildinghunuadams, with photos Phil took many many years ago, in fact in the early 50s. I had found another man had a website on the building of the Wairoa Dam which is just down the road for us. I emailed him some of Phil's photos, which he has now included, but decided to get photos of the other dams onto a blog. There are 5 dams in these hills and Phil was involved with the building of 4 of them and took hundreds of photos.
Better get on with my breakfast.
Hello ladies, we are home. Got home at 12.45. One load of washing done and also most of the unpacking. But I had to have a rest so have spent an hour catching up with e mails and GR.
We had a lovely time. Sunday 12th was wet and also Monday morning, so we went to the craft shop (Paper Warehouse), and Lakeland and had lunch in Mo******s. Tuesday was glorious so we had a freedom of the Lake ticket and went from lakeside to Ambleside and back enjoying the beautiful scenery. The boats were full, mainly with coach loads of japanese tourists.
Wednesday we met friends for lunch then drove round to Brantwood (John Ruskin's house) in Coniston, another nice sunny day.
Thursday was fairly bright but cloudy, a few sunny periods. We Walked a mile or so at Elterwater, then drove into the Langdales where we had a picnic lunch, then walked another short way to take photos of surrounding hills and fells, then drove to Rydal water and walked about another mile to Grasmere Lake and took more photos. Had a lovely day. Friday we went to Arnside, it was a bit showery but no real rain, then we drove to Fellfoot on Windermere and it was sunny. Our daughter and her husband joined us friday evening and Saturday we all went out to Cartmel and grange over Sands finishing up eating our lunch at Bradsea, near Ulverston sitting by the sea (which was in, it is usually mud) in the sun, even eating an ice cream. We then went and looked round the local Budhist community grounds which are lovely and were able to see the temple they have built which is wonderful.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were all sunny evenings when we sat outside at the bar by the river with a glass of wine.
Saturday evening daughter treated us out to a meal for Fahter's day.
It was drizzly rain when we left at 0915 this morning but soon dried and it was dry all the ay home.
It has been quite cold all week though, not really flaming June, except for Tuesday.
Ann, good to see home and to know you had a good week, even though the weather wasn't what we should be getting in June. Still, I suppose it's typical British weather.lol!!
Mo, I've seen the photos of your two babies, they are both gorgeous little girls.
How is your granddaughter's boyfriend now? I hope he has recovered from the "flare up" and is back home again.
I'm going to have a shower now, so I might look in again a bit later on.
Good morning all, nice and bright here so far but the usual rain forecast for later. I ought to be getting on with finishing the unpacking instead of being on here but I am still catching up with things.
Jean, I will pop over to Caz's thread to read about Jeff. Hopefully he will be improved enough to go away in October but, as you say, one day at a time.
Mau, hope your cold gets better soon. Annoying to have a cold in the summer. Although, as it is more like winter maybe that explains it!!!
Sallie, yes our holiday weather was very typically British weather. And, if I am honest, in the 25 years we have had that time share apartment, we have only had three or four weeks when the weather has been good. It is usually colder and wetter than we think it should be.
Hello all.
I bought a new pair of tramping (hiking) boots at the hospice shop. I dont think they have been worn for more than a few metres by the look of them, just like new. They cost me $20, a very good buy, as they fitted me perfectly. Most unusual. I usually have trouble finding anything that feels comfy. They will be great to take when I go to the Chatham Islands next Sept/Oct.
