Good Morning all, we have just had a hairy moment a bus caught fire outside of the houseI saw smoke earlier but just thought it was car exhaust, then it suddenley got worse the back of the bus was well alight, so I got Jeff up and got the other neibours up too. it was what seemed awhile before the fire engines came, the big worry was if it exploded we are right on the busy A58 so we had to get out of the houses.... its out now but the road is closed both ways.....

I have been busy with the cards Sallie, so now I want to ahve a few days off from doing them, D is in America for two weeks so we can please ourselves were we go and what we eat ....lol....Jeff hasnt driven very far ,just locally , so he now feels he would like to venture further ... we had booked a holiday in Llandudno on the 17th Oct but was advised to cancel it as the consultant didnt expect Jeff to have done so well. so we may try later in the year, do a bit of christmas shopping, Great shops in LLandudno and of course Craftlands ....lol... I think the shop next door sells wool.... so better go and have a wash and some brekkie see you all later .

love to Sylvia, hope you are doing o.k.

Hello everyone.....here is the latest update from Sylvia:

Things are slowly getting better. I did create some worry in the hospital as my blood pressure would not come down.

It started at 183 just before the operation

reached over 200 on post-op

got as high as 227 on the ward late on Tuesday afternoon.

I did not have any other symptoms, such as headaches, etc, and felt pretty OK ............ having had very high bp before, I know how rotten it can make you feel!

They called in an internist, who prescribed another bp medication, but thought I should go home the next day as I might well feel better at home
........... with the caveat that I had to keep taking my own bp, and go to my own doctor or emergency if it did not come down.

Fortunately it is ................. highest now is 170, but it has been down in the 130s.

A Public Health nurse comes on Monday and Thursday to change the dressing, and will do any other necessary things, such as removing the staples.

Staple removal should be some time next week .... 7-10 days after the op,hopefully!

I am stapled up from here to eternity!

shouldn't fall apart any time soon!!

I see the surgeon on October 31st and will know then whether I will need any further treatment.

Sylvia is looking at the posts but finding typing understandably difficult at the moment.

Ooh thanks Cynthia, for keeping us up with all Sylvia's news.
It sounds like she has got a real good care package backing her up. Blood pressure is so unpredictable, and can be up or down from one minute to the next.
It's a good job that Sylvia doesn't suffer from white coat syndrome. ( where a patients blood pressure raises as soon as they see a doctor ).
Once the staples come out she will feel much more comfortable bless her.
Please send her our love and best wishes next time you speak to her.

Goodness me Jean, how frightening it must have been for you and your neighbours, when the bus caught fire.
It could have caused chaos had there been an explosion.
Would it be possible for you and Jeff, to get a coach down to Wales for a short break away. That way it would save the stress on Jeff, and give you both a well earned rest.

I hope everyone is well. Take care all. Love Mo xxx

I have a docs appointment at 11.45 today. I have had a 'tight' headache for a week or so now and even the heavy duty paracetamol plus codeine tabs havent made any difference so I thought I should get it checked out before Thursday. I just hope it is nothing to stop me going on my trip.

Hi Sylvia,

Oh what a lovely surprise, it's great hearing from you and to know that you are improving slowly. As Mo said no dancing round the dining room just yet or any other room, come to that. lol!!

Huia, hope that everything will go well for you at the doctors. It's best to get it checked out before you go on holiday.

At last I have got back into making cards, I've been busy making them all over the weekend.....so now Alun will have to take photos of them so that I can send them to Ann for her blog, if she won't mind doing them when she gets home.

Well, I'm ready for bed now, so goodnight to everyone.

I got the go-ahead for my holiday. I have to use a nasal spray for a few days before I go on the plane as it is a cold I have, plus a migraine headache. I can live with the headache. She did offer to prescribe some tabs for the migraine but it is not all that bad. I was just worried that I might have something horribly infectious like measles or meningitis. 3 more sleeps to go!

I hope Ann is still enjoying her holiday, and that she takes a peep in to say hello to us.

Sallie, I bet you are going like the clappers now, with your card making. Are you doing some for your brothers church this year, only I know they were very popular last year.

Sending loving wishes to Sylvia for a continued good recovery.

Hi Girls,

Sylvia, you are doing really well as it's only a week since you had the operation.....you certainly have plenty of good spirit and determination. It's lovely to hear from you and to know how you are getting on.

Jean, I'm sorry to hear about Caz having a kidney infection. I hope that the antibiotics will start to work and that she will soon feel better. Please would you pass on my love and get well wishes to her. I'm thinking about her.

Mo, yes I'm cracking on with card making now.....although I'm not making any for my brother's church this year. I have quite a few birthday cards to make as well as my Christmas cards, and I also have a desk calendar to make for my brother as part of his Christmas present from Jennie and Michael.
He loves meercats, so I'm making him one with meercats on...,, just hope he likes it.

Was it your last darts match tonight with that team? If so, I hope you won.

Huia, pleased to hear that you headaches were nothing too worrying and that you are able to go on holiday as planned. Hope you have a great time
and that you'll also get some good weather. Take care and enjoy.

Well, I'm off to bed now, so will speak to you all again tomorrow.
Thinking of all our friends on here and hoping that all is well with them.

My goodness Sallie, you were posting late last night.
Yes last night was my last game for that league, we lost as per normal lol.
Not upset about it though I have to admit, I can now get back to normal.
I am still playing two nights a week though, thats Mondays and Thursdays, it's more fun in those leagues.
Like your brother, I love the Meercats adverts on the t.v, I find them so funny but cuddly.

Cooee Jean, lovely to see you posting. How the devil are you both doing.?

Sylvia, take it slowly please, dont try to type with three fingers just yet, or you will fall off the chair.
It's so lovely to hear from you.
I hope you enjoyed the visit from your sister in law, and that she didn't talk the legs of you.

Get well soon Caz, drink plenty to flush it out of your system love.

Hi Girls,

Yes Mo I was late posting last night as I had a card I wanted to finish off
first.
Earlier in the evening we got a call from Jennie asking if we could go over there to try and catch a big spider, as Michael was in work, Jennie is terrified of them. So that held my card making up a bit....... of course there was no sign of the spider by the time we got there.lol!! I rang her at ten to see if she had seen it again, she hadn't, but Michael had just arrived home from work so she had him searching for it as soon as he stepped over the doorstep.lol!!
Both Alun and I think that their dog Jay had caught it and eaten it while Jennie sat in the kitchen waiting for us to arrive...she was too frightened to sit in the living room.

Went to Derby this morning, as I needed a few bits and pieces for my cards. It was quite nice there, the weather was lovely and it wasn't too busy. So I had some lunch there in my favourite tea room, just a sandwich and a cuppa but I enjoyed it.

Sorry you lost last night, but as you said, never mind it was the last match for them and you still have the other leagues that you play in, which sound a lot nicer. Good luck with your matches for them.

Caz, hope you are feeling a bit better today. I'm thinking about you and hoping that you will be a lot better soon.

Jennie had a kidney infection quite a few years ago, when she was in year 7 of the secondary school, she was in a good bit of pain and felt really poorly with it.

Jean, how are things with you? Alright I hope. Are you still busy doing more cards.
My problem is that once I start making them I forget about everything else.lol!!! So I thought I'd post on here before I make a start, or otherwise I'll be posting late again tonight.

Sylvia, hope everything is still going along alright for you, and that each day gets easier for you. Thinking about you.

Ann, I can't remember when you are due home from holiday, although I'm sure it's within the next couple of days. Looking forward to hearing from you and hearing all about your holiday. Take care and have a safe journey home.

I haven't heard from Dutch for quite a few days so hope that she's okay.

Huia, take care and enjoy your holiday. Wishing you a safe journey.

I'm not sure if Marie has already gone to the family reunion. Hope it all goes well for her, as she has put a lot of time and effort into arranging it all.

Betty we haven't heard from you for a while, hope all is well with you. Take care.

Chain of love and good wishes for Sylvia and Caz. We're all thinking about you both.

Oh darn it I missed Sallie again, coooe lovey.

Spiders dont worry me at all, I suppose it was being bought up in a country that had great big spiders and beetles, also snakes and other creepy crawlies.
My cat used to love chasing them round, so the chances are that Jennies dog did get it.
Mind you at this time of year we do tend to get lots of spiders in the houses dont we.
Some people say that conkers keep them at bay, but I have never tried it, so cant guarantee it working.
Well I am orft now, so speak to you tomorrow girls.
Love to all. Mo xxx

Good evening all.

One more sleep to go! I havent packed my things yet. This afternoon I will be taking the cat in to my friend in Papakura - if I can get her into the carry cage. I might finish up in hospital with multiple lacerations. :-|

Better get moving, you probably wont hear from me again until after I get back.

Hi all
xxx

Caz ........ hope you are beginning to feel better as the antibiotics take effect.

1 week progress report .......

Things are gradually improving.

I still have an untold number of staples in an incredibly long incision, and a drain. Hopefully, the drain will be removed on Thursday, and then I can have a SHOWER on Friday :-D

If not, then I will have to wait until Monday ......... and have the first celebratory shower on Tuesday

I have made an appointment with my hairdresser for this afternoon to get my hair WASHED. Oh JOY! :-)

I still have to keep my left arm close against my body, to provide some support ................. and also as a reminder NOT to make many movements!

BUT ... I can now move my left forearm and hand with more ease and without causing too much discomfort, so I can ....................... now type with 3 fingers .......... one of which is on my left hand!

I went out yesterday for the first time ...... for afternoon coffee. The coffee shop owners gave me a free latte. as a welcome back.

This has not been the most enjoyable time, but we're getting there!

Thank you everyone for your support, good wishes, and the chain of support.
