Take care.

Huia Report 26 Oct 2011 23:05

Well, the missing form arrived today. There are 2 postmarks on the envelope, the first for the 19th, and the other for the 26th (yesterday). It was sent by fast post!!! I hate to think how long it would have taken by ordinary mail. My speech at the conference will probably be about the terrible mail 'service' we get these days.

Huia.

Just thought I'd keep this thread nudged up for Mo. Not sure if her and Roly are due home today or tomorrow.

Alun and I are off to London tomorrow to visit Richard and Christie, so I'm hoping we'll get some dry weather for the journey......I hate travelling on the motorway in the rain.

Going to make some more cards now, but I might look in again later.

Hope everyone is OK.

Speak soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi girls, I haven't been on for a while but I'm still around. It has been a typical November day here, dark and foggy, can't see the moors over the valley for the first time this year, winter is on it's way.
The nurse came this afternoon to give me my flu jab, woke me from a lovely sleep, I don't sleep much during the night with pain so like an afternoon nap.
Anyone know when Marie will be back?
Sylvia glad you are getting back on your feet now, won't be long before you are back to your normal routine.
Huia I hope you enjoy your trip to Dunedin and that your speech will go ok, you will have to tell us all about it when you come back.

Love Caz x

Sallie Report 27 Oct 2011 22:57

Just a quick look in before I get ready for bed as we have an early start tomorrow.

Caz, it's lovely to hear from you as we miss you when you aren't able to post. Hope you are feeling better than you've been lately.

It's been a wet and miserable day here. I went to Derby for a few things that I needed to get but I didn't stay there very long, I was glad to get home out of the rain.

Well I'll say goodnight to you all now. Speak to you soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello folks
I haven't been on this site for a very long time. For a while I had problems logging on and then I had a spell of feeling down after my husband died, However tonight I've been back for a little while and wading through loads of not so hot matches.
Nice to see some names I recognise from ages ago.

Hello Sue, how lovely to see you back. I am sorry to hear that you have had such a sad time. Please now keep chatting to us. Are you still keeping up with the engraving?

Sue in Somerset

Sue in Somerset Report 28 Oct 2011 09:40

Hello :)
Yes I am still engraving. I'm now an Associate Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers and I have work in 4 galleries. So it sounds good even if there aren't many people buying luxury items at the moment.

I'm full of plans to get back into doing my family history and intend to pop in here much more often. It was good to see familiar faces and I hope to chat more.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 29 Oct 2011 15:10

Coooeeee girls, the daft old bat is back, just in time for Halloween.
Oooh it's so nice to be back home again, back in my own bed,and routine.
My poor feet, I have had blisters upon blisters on my toes, all that walking, has fair worn me out. Talk about being out of shape, physical excercise didn't come into it. lol
Some rotten so and so, had stolen the cable for the trams further up the line from us, and every time we waited for a tram they turned up full to bursting, so we had to walk.
One day, we were waiting, and a lady said she had been waiting since 9.45a.m, and this was at 11.15a.m, and she said that every one had been full. Bless her, she was unable to walk very far, so she was waiting in the hopes that there would be enough room for just one more passenger on one of them, so that she could get down to the town.
Our weather was very good, no rain at all during the day, but they told us it had rained during the night, but I was sound asleep and never heard it. I slept like a log, from sheer exhaustion, but my bed at home is the best.
We were unable to get into the Ice show, as the run had finished. Now we could not understand this, because whenever we go up to Blackpool, it is always around my birthday, and it has always been on before.
We didn't get to the Circus either, because now you have to pay a lot more to go in, you cant just go into the Tower and into the ballroom and pay the extra for the circus, you have to pay a larger amount altogether, they dont separate it.
And by golly, you should have seen the queues waiting to buy tickets.
That was the only problem, it was half term, and the whole town was heaving with people.
But all in all, it was great.
The only thing was, the journey back, took us 8 hours. We got stuck in traffic on the M1, the M25 and hit the Queen Elizabeth bridge at the wrong time, it took us an hour to get over it.
Today I have managed to catch up on all the washing. How can two adults make so much washing over a five day period. :-(
It is so nice to read back on all your posts. Sylvia....such good news from you my love, keep up the good work, and forbid your hubby getting on any ladders of any kind in future.
Hi Sue, lovely to have you back amongst our happy brood, keep popping in and seeing us.

Well girls, I must away, and get the washing in, before it decides to rain on it.
Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Oooh by the way, I believe Marie said she would be back by the 28th of the month.
And dont forget to alter those clocks tonight girls, for those of us in the U.K that is. An extra hour in bed, huh, thats a laugh ,our body clocks still wake us up at the same time don't they.
Byeee. xxx

Mo lovely to see you back and to hear that you had a great time. I think it's nice to go away but it's always nice to get back to your own home and bed. As the saying goes, 'There's no place like home'.

Pleased to hear that the weather was good too....shame about the problem with the trams, there are some rotten people about to steal the cable liike that. Anyway, hope your feet get better each day, Mo.

We enjoyed our time with Richard and Christie, it was nice to see them both.
They are hoping to come up to see us all next month, if their funds allow.

Sue, lovely to see you back with us, as the others have said hope you keep popping to see us.... we all missed you when you left
Really sorry to hear about your husband, I can only imagine how difficult it has been for you. As you know we are all here for you, so anytime you are feeling down and need someone to talk to, you know where to find us all.

Good to hear that you are still doing your engraving and that it's all going well for you.

Caz, Jean, Sylvia, Ann and Tess hope things are okay with you all. Huia, hope you enjoyed your weekend in Dunedin and that all went well with your speech.

Take care all of you. Speak to you soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xx

Hi Marie, it's great to see you back, we all missed you. So pleased to hear that your family reunion went well. I wasn't sure when you were due home.

I hear from Dutch, she's not too good at the moment, one of one of her legs is very swollen., so it's very painful. She doesn't come on GR very much now, but I'm hoping that she will soon start coming on again.

Both Alun and I are okay, thank you. Hope your family are all okay too.

I'll speak to you soon.

Hi all
xxx

Nice to see everyone coming back.

Sue .... I love that piece in your avatar!

I went to see the surgeon this morning ......... only had to wait 15 minutes past the appointment time

She went through the pathology report ................ everything is clear, although I did apparently have both pre-cancerous and "atypical cells" of lobular cancer spread throughout the tissue

so da*n good job it was found so early.

AND bloomin' lucky that I opted for the mastectomy!!

I have been referred automatically to the Cancer Agency to see a radiation specialist ......... but the surgeon sees no need for me to have any further treatment. But the radiation guy makes the final decision ......... and she said he is a very practical guy.

so it looks like I won't have to have any radiation ....... we'll know more next Monday when I go to the Cancer Agency.

But it felt like a load of my shoulders this morning :-D :-D :-D
