Hello everyone, sorry I havent been on for a while,I have not been too well, old age stuff really....but things drag you down sometimes, anyway hope things improve soon....at least Jeff is doing well and doesnt get quite as tired as before...so he is back as my carerer.....lol... although he doesnt know that yet.!!! well he has had a lot of time off. recently....
Mo I do pray that Roly will get some relief from the pain that in itself drags you down so lots of hugs for you both (((((((((((((( x )))))))))))))))
Sallie glad to hear you are doing the cards, they can be a lifesaver, my bolt hole I call it.... but I must do some culling of all the stuff I have accumulated, I could open as a craft shop....lol....so I am being very good and not buying anymore , well not for a day or two...lol...
much love to our friends across the water. I still read what you are all up to. and you all seem to live very full lives...good on you ....
a few weeks ago I read this thread right from the first day and it was lovely going back over the years , like when Sallie joined us and what Debbie and her family used to be involved , bet the boys are really grown up now... sad that we dont hear from others that were always adding, so you see Mo, it is worth keeping going with it all..you never know maybe one or two and even some newcomers may just pop on to say hello...so onwards and upwards. take care all of you and dont get the winter blues or in some cases the winter blacks...... I hate
winter......never mind soon be Christmas, and on that happy note I will say by for now keep smiling share a few every day

Hi Girls,

Oooh it is nice to see hear from you all. This has been a lonely thread for quite a while now but as you all say we don't want Mo to delete. So Mo we'll all have to try and post on here a bit more than we have done lately.

Sylvia, hope things are going along well for you. Also hope that your family are all well.

Ann, glad to hear that you and T enjoyed your weekend with your daughter and her family. It's lovely to see them all especially when you don't live near enough to them to see them all more often.

Jean, hope you will soon start to feel better. As the saying goes,'old age doesn't come by itself'.lolol!! I think most of us on here know how you feel.
Pleased to hear that Jeff is improving and able to do a bit more than he has been able to for a long while. I hope all is well with Debra too.

I've been to Derby this morning, had to go to one of the craft shops there so that I could get some more paper I needed.Again I spent more than I had intended to on a few bits and bobs. I also bought a couple of Christmas presents from another shop, so don't feel so bad about buying more stashlol!!
I keep saying that I'm not going to do anymore cards to save money and so that the dining room will be a lot tidier, but I still keep doing them.

Mo, hope Roly is feeling a bit better than he was yesterday afternoon.

Do you have a darts match tonight? If you have hope you and your team will win.

I wonder where Huia is...she's usually about. Hope things are not too bad with Phil.

Caz, if you are looking in, I hope you are feeling a little bit better today. I will be thinking about you.

Hope things are okay with Tess and Betty.

Like Jean I also looked back on the thread last week, it was lovely, we all had so much to say then, it was really chatty thread. I wonder if Sue will look in again, it was nice hearing from her.

Well girls I must do the ironing now so that I can get on with the card making....mustn't make the cards first or the ironing won't get done.lol!!
I might look in again later on. Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello all. I am still here, but very busy. I went to a Gilbert and Sullivan concert on Sunday afternoon and yesterday was working in the hospice shop. I am up early today as I have to go to Bombay to meet a man with my billboards and presumably help him to put them up so will probably be out most of the day.

Time to go and get dressed now.

Huia.

Mo in Kent Report 7 Nov 2011 19:43

Huia, I presume the Bombay you are referring to is not the Bombay in India.
Thats one heck of a long way to go to meet a man. lol ;-)

Sallie, yes love I have got a darts match tonight, I don't know how we will fare, but it's a night out, and it's better than staying in night after night.

It's so nice to hear from you again my friends, it's been very quiet on here lately.
I know that when the winter months arrive in the good old U.K we tend to close our curtains, and sit in front of our fires and hibernate.
But I love to hear from you all, and I know for sure our Jean does.

As has been said earlier, a lot of our friends seem to have vanished from the face of the earth.
I do often wonder how Debbie and her young family are doing as well Jean. The youngsters used to get up to such fun, and it was good to read about their adventures.

I will take your advice Sylvia, and leave the thread where it is for now.
I hope you are still progressing well my dear.
How is young M.J doing. Will you be seeing him over the christmas period?

I can't belive that our little Lilly is nearly ten months old, time goes so quickly.
I am really looking forward to her opening her first christmas presents.
And no doubt she will be more interested in the wrapping, rather than the gifts themselves.

Well my lovelies, I must away and get ready. So take care one and all.
Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Sallie Report 7 Nov 2011 20:13

Good luck for tonight Mo. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Will Lilly and her mum and dad be with you on Christmas Day or at least for part of it? As you say Mo, the time goes so quickly and I think the older I get the quicker it goes.

Huia, I too was hoping that you didn't have to go all the way to Bombay in India to meet a man.lolol!! Anyway hope the meeting went okay.

Well ladies I'll say goodnight now, will speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Jean just seen your post, agree this site is a pain in the neck. Last week we had problems for days and days and now we have more problems. I think it's about time GR sorted it out once and for all, it isn't any wonder that some members can't be bothered to post anymore. Sorry I had to have another moan about GR.

Hi girls, I haven't been on here for a while as I haven't been too well. Please don't take this thread off Mo, it's a way of keeping in touch with our friends who all post on it. It's my favourite thread, I never have any news of my own being housebound but I love to hear everyone elses.
Can't write more but please leave it on Mo.

Hi Mo and everyone
xxxx

I'M CLEAR !!!!!!

:-D :-D :-D :-D

I saw the radiologist at the BC Cancer Agency this morning ....... he said I did not need radiation treatment because the cancer was so very small.

It was only 2 mm in diameter

BUT .....................

because the cancer was invasive, and there were cells in the breast tissue, there is a very slight chance (2-5%) that a cancer cell may have got into the blood, so I am going on a course of tamoxifen for 5 years.

I go back to see the radiologist in 3 months to check whether it is working, whether there are any side effects, etc etc.

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes, and positive thinking! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

It seems I am "special" (blows on fingernails, and shines them on sweater :-D )

They very rarely get anyone at the Cancer Agency with a cancer so small ............... so there are no records, reports or analyses for them to consult on the risk of taking or not taking tamoxifen.

So it was very much a case of tossing the balls in the air and guessing whether the benefit would outweigh taking another drug or the known side effects .............. which include hot flashes (again!!!)

It seems that tamoxifen reduces the risk of recurrence by about 50% ..... so a 10% chance of recurrence would be reduced to about 5%

In my case, a risk rate of 2-5% means that the reduction would be to 1-2½%

Belts and braces comes to mind!!

Anyway, we are over the moon ................ and get back to normal life, whatever "normal" is!

I am so pleased for you Sylvia. Best wishes for a long and happy life.

No, girls, I did not go to India. Bombay is just a few miles south of here. We talk of Aucklanders being 'north of the Bombay Hills'. The men I met had my billboards with my name on. We put up 2 double sided ones, that is to say, in a v shape. We were going to put up another couple at Waiuku but we ran out of timber as we needed to try to stop the others from falling over. The Waiuku site is not really suitable anyway for the large billboards so I might talk the landowner into just having a 'fence' sign which is smaller, and just promotes the party. I can put the large ones elsewhere if I can get some helpers.

We have a site booked for the Clevedon A & P show this weekend. Now I need to find somebody to help me put up the gazebo thing I bought. It can be set up on Friday but if I dont get any helpers then, I will have to wait until the others arrive on Sat. morning. I dont have too many helpers in this neck of the woods. :-(

Time to start thinking about dinner.

Huia.

Hi Girls,

At last I've managed to get onto this thread. I tried getting on here this morning but the site was so slow and when I finally managed to get on to General Chat I could only get on to the first page, every other page I only got blank pages.

Sylvia I know I've already told you on your thread, but just want to say again how happy I am for you and your family with your good news.
I'm sure you must be on cloud nine.

Huia, hope you can get some helpers to put up the rest of the billboards and the gazebo on Friday as it will save you time on Saturday morning.

Caz, nice to see you posting, don't worry if you haven't any news to tell us, we love to hear from you and to know how things are with you.

Mo, how did you and your team get on last night? I hope you beat the other team.
Hope the antibiotics are working for Roly and he is feeling better.

I have an appointment with the doctor at 4-30pm....I shall be glad to talk to him because each time I take a tablet I start to feel more down. The trouble is I don't want to take one but know I have to, so I'm hoping he will come up with a solution.

It's a dark and damp day here, I had to put the light on to make some cards this morning.

Well girls, I'll speak to you all later, that's if I can get back on here.

Take care.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Coooeee everyone.

Sylvia, I can't tell you just how pleeeeezzzzeeeddd I am for you love. This has been a hard battle won on your part, so just keep up the good work, and keep the enemy at bay.

Huia, we will all give you a hand at getting that Gazebo up for you. If wishes were dreams, it would already be up and waiting for you when you get there.
Just remember when you start to erect it, that we are all watching, and laughing when the wind gets up, and blows it down again. ;-) ;-) ;-)
You know I am only kidding you love, dont you. Good luck with it.

Sallie will be in with her doctor at the moment, lets hope he gives her something to help her, bless her this has gone on long enough.
Sallie, Lilly is supposed to be coming to us christmas day, along with her mum and dad, and my other daughter and grandaughter. Then in the evening the whole family will be here, apart from one daughter and her girls.
It's a long story, but suffice to say, we dont like her new partner, and dont want him here upsetting the family over the christmas period.

Caz, I am going to leave the thread up honey. I realise that it is nice to have a few friendly people that we can all chat to, without there being any nastiness.
I hope you start to feel better soon love.

Well Jean my lovely friend, we lost at darts last night. I was sincerely glad to get home, what a miserable lot they all were.
I felt like doing someone a damage, with all the moaning that was going on.
I don't think I will bother to play for them next season, even if it means me retiring from the monday night league.
Lifes to short to have to sit and listen to what was going on last night.

Must go and start some dinner for my patient, bless him he's a lot better today. It's the coughing and sneezing thats getting him down now. All together now ahhhhhhhhh.
Bye for now my friends. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Just a quick look in before I make the dinner The doctor has taken me off the tablets completely now, as I was on a low enough dose to safely come off them. I am happy about that as I was feeling worse on the day and the next day after taking them. Isn't it strange that the tablets can have the reverse effect of what they are suppose to do.

Mo.sorry you lost last night. By what you say they sound a right miserable lot and I don't blame you for not wanting to play for them next season.

Ann, it's nice to see Julia back on the threads. Thanks for letting me know as I hadn't seen her thread.
Hope your card making is going well. I still have a lot more to make and also the desk calendar to do for my brother.

Well girls, I must make the dinner now, might look in again later on.

Love, Sallie.xxx

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2011 17:33

Sallie, glad you are off the tablets, obviously the psychological effect of taking them was worse than the physical effect of not taking them. I have more or less finished the cards now (170+) might make a few more as I have all the bits out and they will do for next year. Trouble is, once I start it is addictive.

Sallie

Sallie Report 8 Nov 2011 20:56

Well here I am again.
Ann you have done well making all those cards. At the moment I have a few to make for special birthdays, a 50th and a 21st, so I'm doing a few art deco ones, as they both like that sort of thing. Like you Ann, once I start doing them I become addicted and don't want to do anything else.

Mo it sounds as though you are going to have plenty of company over Christmas. It will be great to have Lilly there for her Christmas.
Shame about your one daughter and her daughters but as you say you don't want any trouble or bad feeling over Christmas because of her new partner.

Doctor suggested that I don't drink tea after 6-00pm after I told him that some nights I can't 'switch off ' and get to sleep. I don't know how I'm going to manage that as I love my cuppa.lol!!

Speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi everyone

A further development is that ........... I will not even be taking Tamoxifen!!

I got a phone call about 6 pm on Tuesday evening, from the doctor I saw on Monday.

Because of the very low risk that I've got, he had consulted with an oncologist. The oncologist thought my risk rate was close to 5%, rather than the 10% Voduc had been working on when making his suggestions.

Oncologist then worked out that I would get 1-2% benefit from taking tamoxifen, balanced against a 1% increased risk of blood clot and 1% increased risk of uterine cancer ..... plus the hot flashes.

Basically the risks are almost outweighing the benefit in my case.

Both of them decided that they would be comfortable if I decided not to take tamoxifen.

So that is what I have decided.

My treatment now is 6 monthly physical examinations by my GP.

:-D :-D :-D
