Hi all

Mo I am pleased that your son is out of hospital, that is the second case of that I've heard of and the last one was a friend in her 80s who was also visiting Scotland. Coincidence? She seems to have made a full recovery.

I didn't say the cream is not working, I said it is too soon to see if it has worked, it is about a month after using the cream before you can tell. However, one patch looks more hopeful than others I think.

Sallie I am sorry to hear about Jennie, I hope the hospital can set her on the road to recovery. Crohns is such a horrible disease isn't it?

To-day is the last day of Summer and to-morrow Autumn she says, what the hell happened to Summer no doubt it will be a cold wet winter as well , never mind next Summer could be a drought but I shouldnt complain they are starving in Africa all those poor little mites.
Hi Sylvia it is nice to hear from you I hope you are well.

Hi Mo, It is great to hear that your son is out of Hospital I am sure he will do the right thing as a Heart Attack is a frightening thing it takes awhile to get over the fright.

Happy anniversary Mo Hope you are having a lovely day.

Marie daughter had radio therapy not chemo, quite a lot of difference there, RT is not so debilitating thank goodness, although in its way bad enough.

Jean enjoy yourselves. While the cat is away :-D :-D

Hello all,

Mo, is there any more news about your son....how did he get on at the hospital yesterday. Hope they can sort out his problem with medication.

Jean, hope you and Jeff have a nice few days on your own. As you say, as we get older we swap role play with our children.lol!!

Glad to hear that you are getting on with your card making.
I haven't done any at all since last week...we seem to have spent a lot of time at the hospital with Jennie. She's not only suffered a small flare up of Crohn's, she's had a water infection, a high temperature and heart rate, and a very swollen and painful right knee. We took her to A&E on Sunday evening, after being there for five hours they kept her in.
After tests and xrays it looks as though a virus is the cause of her problem. Her temperature is still up and down, and after draining the fluid off her knee three times, they were able give her a steroid injection into it, so it's feels a bit easier. At least now she can move about on crutches instead of having to use a wheelchair.
As some people that suffer from Crohn's can also suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Jennie is now under a Consultant Rheumatologist at the hospital, she will be given an appoitment and also has to go for physiotherapy on her knee as it has become very stiff.

Marie nice to hear from you again, sorry that the summer weather hasn't been too good for you all. I'm looking forward to the longer days here and hope that our summer weather will be good.
Hope all is well with your family.

Sylvia, lovely to hear from you. Hope hubby's results of his colonoscopy were good. Also hope that all is going along okay for you.

How is your grandson getting along these days? He must be coming up to two now, but I might have it wrong. Anyway, I hope that he and his mum and dad are all well.

Caz, hope you are feeling a little bit better than you've been lately.
Thinking about you.

Linda, haven't spoken to you for a while, hope all is well with you and your family. I expect your grandson is coming along well by now.

Joyce, hope you and Jan are both alright.

Ann, hope all is well with you and your daughter.

Huia, hope you are alright. Are you still working in the Hospice Shop?

Well girls I must go now, have a few things to do before going to the hospital to visit Jennie.

Speak to you all soon

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 29 Feb 2012 15:48

Hello girls,
Many thanks for the lovely cards, Jean, Ann and Joyce, and thank you all for the anniversary wishes.
We were going to go out for a meal tonight, but we are both so full of this cold, that we have changed the booking for Saturday instead.

Our son saw the specialist yesterday, and had the echo cardiogramme done
It shows that his heart is mis-shapen, and has what they describe as a thread going through the top part of the heart.
The specialist in Scotland is sending all the information down to Jason's doctor here, and he is to see a heart specialist as soon as possible.
He is allowed to drive, but take lots of rest breaks in the journey.
I am still hoping that someone who is attending the funeral, will offer drive them home next week.
He is still having little niggly pains, but not as bad as they were, thank the good lord.

Ooh isn't it lovely to hear from Sylvia and Marie again. We do miss their postings, as we do Huia's.
It would be nice to hear from Joyce and Caz, to see how they are both doing as well.

Well girls, Gammon Steaks, Jacket spuds, peas and pinneapple for dinner tonight, and guess who's cooking, yes me. So I had better get my skates on, and get the preparations sorted.
Take care, and love to all. Mo xxx

I hope you have had a happy anniversary today, Mo. How many anniversaries is that, 10?

I was going to visit Phil today, but instead I have decided to let off some flea bombs in the house. I have to cover over all dishes and bench surfaces, and switch off all power including the fridge (and of course the computer), set the bombs off and get out for 2 hours then come back and air the house. I will make a lunch to take outside with me. I might take my external hard drive as well, just in case! I am rather nervous about the procedure but I must get rid of these pesky fleas.

Huia.

Mo in Kent Report 29 Feb 2012 22:14

Hello Huia,
My goodness 10 years of marriage, no it's 48 years. But in leap year terms it's only 12 years. Fancy us getting married on February 29th 1964, and my not realising it was a leap year. I blame it on my age, as I was only 17 at the time and very naive lol.
Oh for goodness sake the blasted fleas are back as well as the rats Huia. It must be the rats bringing them back inside again.
Is your cat still not coming into the house? I know it vanished the last time the rats invaded you. Poor puss must be afraid of them, bless it.
I do hope the flea bombs work this time, and eradicate them for you love.
Love to you Mo xxx

Huia

Huia Report 29 Feb 2012 22:56

Mo, I think flea eggs can remain dormant until the weather is right for them, so they would probably have been here all winter, but I think the flea bombs are supposed to kill off the eggs too. I dont think the rats are coming inside this summer as I have blocked off the way I think they were coming into the living part of the house. They certainly havent been eating the soap and candles, anyway.

Huia who still hasnt set off the bombs but is going to after covering up the table and kitchen bench. And turning off the computer and fridge.

Morning ladies
I hope all those who have been unwell are feeling a little better. And family members struggling with health issues too.

My own family are all well. The baby is doing well, but still a bit jaundiced the hospital said he might remain like it whilst fully breast fed just something that can happen? He is gaining weight though and very content. Our daughter is blooming, she will be a good Mum, I am sure. Always had babies around, being the eldest of three then me childminding for 24 years too.

Weather miserable here very foggy and rain forecast for the weekend. Glad we got some gardening done two days ago.

Hope Huia has gotten rid of all her unwelcome "guests" and that the smoke bomb did no damage and that the computer is OK too. How is Phil? Went to see my MUm last week with lots of pictures of her great grandson, she seemed pleased but a littl quiet. She has been asking my brother when she can go back home, but never mentioned it to me, just saying it is taking a long time to sell the flat. She is in the best care for her but so very hard when they want to look after themselves, and none of the family can look after her 24/7.

Have a great day

I haven't been on here for a while for obviously reasons, as Joyce said the cast is coming off next week, thank goodness. My ankle still hurts though so I am not sure if it's healing but as Joyce reminded me i have cancer in my bones so maybe that's holding the healing back, I will have an x/ray next week before I see the doctor so it should show up how things are.
I'm bored out of my skull, there's only so much reading I can do and the last time I went out was to the hospital when I broke it, not that there is anywhere I want to go.
I shall go for another cuppa and my tablets now.

Love Carole xx

Huia Report 1 Mar 2012 20:41

Well I think the bombs worked. I didnt notice any fleas getting onto my bare feet and legs when I got up this morning. I wandered around for a while just to see if there were any, but it is so cold today that I now have my trousers and socks on (plus t shirt and 2 sweatshirts of course).

I did notice yesterday that there were a couple of dead cockroaches on the back porch. I presume they inhaled the gas and managed to crawl under the back door before dying. I gather the stuff also kills spiders and moths, so I am going to have a lot of bodies to sweep up. I did have another rat to dispose of this morning.

All this wild life is keeping me busy, so I must get on and do other things.

Huia.

Sallie, today going to and from the craft fair we went through Tirley and on the way home we came back a different way and passed near Forthampton. Tirley is almost just a main road village except that now there are lots of new estates spreading out from the main road, not many old houses or cottages in sight. Forthampton is way out in the country.
