Mo, thanks, I just put the thread up then tried to monitor it to keep it friendly (ish) But I had to leave them to play while I was watching strictly and the last bit of the X Factor.

I was not at all surprised that Leila got through but did wonder if there was any fixing going on!!!

Mo in Kent Report 14 Nov 2009 22:18

It's been such a shame to see some very good dancers go out Ann.
Surely the public, are not so narrow minded that they vote for their favourite
star, rather than judge their dancing. But perhaps they do,who knows.
But we will never know thats for sure. I do agree, that it seems to be fixed.

AnninGlos Report 15 Nov 2009 09:34

Mo I am sure the public vote for their favourite, otherwise Zoe would not have gone out before Phil or Ricky Groves.

Jean, how annoying to break you Lladro ornament, they are not cheap either. Can it be mended so you can still look at it? I am not minimilist either, love ornaments around me, drives T mad!!! He wont dust, leaves that to me.

JustJean

JustJean Report 15 Nov 2009 13:39

Ann, cant be mended, its a large figure and the head is broken now a piece is missing, think it might be in the vac, which has had the bag emptied, so looks like its gone.... not too worry its not that importent, and there is always more to choose from... nice excuse to buy another one...lol...

Hi everybody.
I am in my element, ITV 4 is showing the darts, now thats just my cup of tea.
And tonights the night for "I'm a celebrity get me out of here", I know I know
how sad am I,but I must be a sadist as I love to see the challenges, that they have to do. Especially the eating ones, yuk. I watch through my fingers, heaving my stomach up.
I have to go upstairs and watch it on the T.V up there,as Roly will not watch it.
He says that I would be more entertained,if I used his binoculars and watched the neighbours.
Oh can you imagine it,someone would call the police, and I would be arrested as a peeping tom. LOL
I hope you are all well. I am getting a bit concerned,as we have not heard from Sallie in a while.I hope she is o.k. If we have no news of her by tommorrow,I will pm her.
Enjoy xfactor tonight Ann.
Love to you all. Mo xxx

I think Sallie might be very busy with her scrap book, I believe she had to get it finished by a certain date for a birthday. However, I hope that is the reason we have not seen her and that she is OK.

Jean, just sent you 2 pages of the scrap book of Westonbirt.

Mo enjoy the darts, like watching grass grow to me I'm afraid but then I can't play. And Celebrity Ooooh no!!! can't bear it. Isn't it strange how we all like such different programmes. I suppose just as well or we'd only have one channel to watch!!!

Just realised that Country file is on at 6pm not 7 this evening, been bumped for Dr Who.

Ann, the pages are great,I love the black and white ones quite dramatic, are the leaves real or fake, I would love some , leaves are a lovely adornment.
you are so lucky being able to get to such lovely places, we have to drive miles to find anything like westonbrit... thanks for sending them....

AnninGlos Report 15 Nov 2009 21:20

Hi Jean, glad you liked them. On the black and white page the leaves are artificial, on the colour page the leaves bottom left are all pressed from my garden about 5 years ago when I was into pressing flowers, I had to be so careful with them as they are very fragile.

Sallie

Sallie Report 16 Nov 2009 20:49

Hello Everyone,

I'm back! Last week was one of those weeks, I'm afraid. I've been busy trying to get the scrapbook done, almost finished now, thank goodness.
We've had a minor problem, to do with a family friend and on top of that I've haven't had a very good week with depression. Sorry I haven't
been on the computer, I hope that now things are back to normal, I'll be on each day.

Ann, thanks for the information about the punches, as soon as I get my head around it, I will post on your Scrapbooking thread. Hope your OH foot is better.

Jean, thatnk you for your e-mail, the cards you've made look really lovely.
So pleased that you and J enjoyed your holiday in Llandudno, and that the weather wasn't too bad for you. Glad that your kitchen is finished apart for the painting--it will be nice when it's all finished.

Mo, if I'm right, you usually go to darts on a Monday night, hope your team will win tonight. Hope you and Roly have been enjoying the darts on the TV. My uncle always loved watching darts when they were on the TV, I always think about him when the darts are on.

Marie, I'm hoping to go out with my friend on Saturday morning, to do a bit of Christmas shopping. I've only bought a few presents so far, so will have to get a move on. With not wanting to go out on my own, because of this depression, I am way behind. It's good to hear that Barbara and Sebastion are doing so well with their exams and courses, all the best to both of them.

Huia, how is everything with you? I hope that your eyes are a lot better.
Hope the choir practice is still going well and that you are enjoying them.

Marilyn, hope you are enjoying your holiday in Florida. As you probably know, the weather here in the UK is horrible. I bet you aren't missing our weather. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Thinking of Debbie, Liz, Sue, and Grace, I hope all is well with you all.

Speak to you all soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx

AnninGlos Report 16 Nov 2009 21:14

Good to see you on here Sallie, sorry you have had a not very good week. Plenty of time to do your Christmas shopping yet, no hassle. It sounds as though the scrap book has put you under a bit of pressure. Sorry I didn't realise that you suffered with depression, miserable for you. Maybe you will feel better once the scrapbook is finished.

Sallie

Sallie Report 16 Nov 2009 21:45

Ann, yes I've suffered from it for ten, nearly eleven years. For quite a few months now, I've been frightened to go out on my own so have to rely on someone to go with me--and while I'm out I just want to get home as soon as possible. Scrapbooking as been the only thing that as kept me going over the last couple of weeks. I'm not too good with computers, but as soon as I can get Alun to do it, I'm going to send Jean some pictures of a few of the scrap pages I have done. Just wondered if you like to see them too?

Speak to you soon.

Love, Sallie.xx

AnninGlos Report 16 Nov 2009 21:53

I would love to see them Sallie. It sounds like you are suffering from agorophobia, have you tried asking for counselling, it really is restricting if it takes hold. I have a friend who suffers with it.

JustJean Report 16 Nov 2009 22:54

Hello, Sallie. look forward to your pages , we are still trying to get the house in order,so havent done any scrapping for a while but hope to start soon... sorry to hear you suffer from depression, I was like that when I was about 30, couldnt go into shops or go to friends homes... still get small panic attacks after all this time, but not a worry now.... that was why I started with the card making, loved the way you could get totally absorbed in it...life saver.....so you carry on love, and enjoy your crafting.....do only what you want to do, there is always time to stop and rest , till the urge to start again comes.
glad you liked the cards, I really got carried away, did far too many, I dont even send many....lol.... so I will give them away for someone else to use....
but I loved it and am still looking to start buying more craft stuff, J is looking a bit worried, his remark was" your not starting all this again are you?"but I will only do scrapping ....will keep you in my prayers, Sallie,we are all here if you just want to chat......

love Jean xx

I have just been looking at my 'card', MO. It is great.

Sallie, I always reckon it helps to talk about things rather than bottling them up, so please do come on here to talk or PM/email friends when you are feeling down. We all care about each other, as I have found this year.

Huia.

Deborah Report 17 Nov 2009 11:23

Hi Girls, it's taken me so long to read all the posts I will have to have a lie down! How is everyone? There has been so much talk on here I wouldn't really know where to start. Glad Jean you had a good holiday, Huia take care of your self when answering the door, Sallie, my thoughts are with you. How is your daughter?

We are an Island swathed in Swine Flu now, unfortunately. It was contained for so long but now the Half Term break is over and children are all back at school after their holidays, there has been a massive increase in cases and we are now officially experiencing a "Severe Outbreak", based mainly in children.

Having said that though, the authorities have been very quick to get things sorted. They started vaccinating people a few weeks back, those in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Health Workers & all with underlying Health Problems (diabetes, asthma etc). Now they are offering the vaccination to 16,000 children under the age of 16. The Primary Schools were all done last week and the Secondary ones yesterday & today. All pre-school age will be next week. It is hoped to have at least 50% of the population vaccinated by Christmas, so a huge push from the Health Authorities here.

All of my 4 have had the vaccination, and Matthew is on Tamiflu as a girl in his class has it. There's nothing we can do other than be sensible and wait for the vaccine to kick in which takes 10-14 days. At least we aren't having to pay for any of this. The authorities here budgeted very well for this all and every home today has received more leaflets & info as well as a thermometer, so we can check temperatures. My thermometer has been working overtime recently, keeping an eye on everyone.

Anyway, we are all well, keeping busy and out of mischief. The eldest boys are doing a lot of Running and football and Luke & Sophie are still enjoying their football.

Counting down now till Christmas, which I find very hard at the moment. We have amazing weather, whoever heard of it being 18ยบ in the middle of November?. Sorry if any of you are having the storms we have heard about on the news. I hope you are all ok.

I will be back on here before you know it to keep up with the gossip. Best wishes to you all.

Mo I haven't had anything from you but that is possibly because you don't have my e mail address.
Jean if you have too many cards, do you have a favourite charity shop, maybe they would like them, or do you have anyone you can sell them to and give the profit to charity?
Mo a draw is better than losing so well done.
Sallie please PM me if you feel down and want a chat.

Debbie, at least they are on the ball with the vaccinations. Unless your children are asthmatic or bronchial I don't thinkt here is anything to worry about, it seems to have been no worse than ordinary flu. I am surprised that they are giving tamiflu when they have not even got it, the tamiflu itself affects some children by giving them nightmares. I assume it is still around here but we hear very little about it now.
