Hi, everybody, well we have got two rooms habitable at last my little conservatory looks like a garage sale...lol.... anyone who calls I invite them to have a look to see if there is anything they could use ,so far got rid of three large cereal containers, now too big to fit in the drawers, several glass dishes of various sizes, bread bin, cutlery, why did I need 20 odd forks knives and spoons?several mugs, swing bin, had to get a slimline one, vases, small side plates dozens of them, I used them to make small pies and tarts....J is still there though !!!.....basin for the sink now too big...I still keep finding bits and pieces to get rid of....

Huia, how do you live with spiders and such like?I had heard that Oz has quite a few too. We have friends who used to live in the hills in Cyprus, and showed us a huge snake they had killed just before we went, she said it would have killed you if it had bitten anyone, how on earth can you live knowing that !! are you still singing too. wish I could have kept it up, but the breath gives out...

Sallie , how are you sweetie, we so miss you on here, did you manage to get the scrapbook finished? isnt it lovely when you have finished and look
through it finally.... have you done the christmas shopping yet , I cant get motivated yet, I made all those cards and thought I would have some over, only to find when I looked at my list I am short, need about six more..
do let us all know how you are getting on, we miss you lots....

Maz, How are you doing in the sunshine hope you dont get too burnt....hee...hee... (sour grapes ) I am sure you are having a great time,

Marie, where are you, how are your beautiful grandchildren, bet they are getting excited about Christmas, have you anything planned.. we have a Christmas Eve meal out planned , but usually its a quite time for us...

what I could do with is ideas of what to buy my friend, who has everything for the festive season, also D and J and my grandson who always gets designer stuff as pressies, this year he mentioned one of the pricey new digital cameras.....Nooooo.... dont think so, I must have bought him loads of cameras over the years, each one getting dearer every time, and of course there is moi to consider, what can I ask santa for? I do have a list but they wont look at it.... perhaps I do get a bit o.t.t.....

My one wish is that other lovely folk who are part of Genes, would come on here and chat with us, not that you lot are boring but it would be nice to have other folks ideas and news...

Has anyone heard how Grace got on with her dodgy stove, and how is Sue doing, and Mrs Grumpy who was one of the first to reply on this new thread, and Deanne, cooee calling you all,

off to have poached egg and beans on toasts for tea, made by he who should be obeyed, but never is. so speak late kiddlies....

love Jean xx

Hello our Jean.
Whats this then a new idea, poached on toast with beans. Lol you have totally confused me,I suspect you mean poached egg, If not,can I have the recipe please.
It's good to hear that you are getting straighter now. Just make sure you don't lose J and D under all the things you are giving away.
I could have done with a few of your knives and forks. I don't know whats been happening here. But since our son moved back home,I am forever
having to wash the cutlery up,where as before it would last us a few days,
before I turned the dishwasher on. Not now though. It's surprising having one extra in the house, how things seem build up twice as quick. Even though it's only one more person.
I cannot suggest what you should buy for christmas,as I am having the same problem.
Theres one thing for sure, the grandchildren wont be getting as much this year,as they have done in the past.
As with others, now that we are retired, the money does not go as far as it did before.
It's so lovely to hear from you Jean. I thought you had forgotten us. Not that I would let you,I would keep pestering you, till you answered me. Stubborn old me.
Sallie,my love how are you. We really do miss you, please hurry back to us,I miss our little chats.
Marie, how are things at your end off the world. Have you been suffering from the heat over there. I hope that the grandchildren, and your daughters are all well.
There has been no news at all, from Grace. I just hope that she has got her problems, from the move sorted out.
Debbie and family, how are you all. Are the children still enjoying their sport. Do the boys still do their fishing at this time off year.
Huia,hi there honey,hows you today.
A big hello to Liz.
I will wish you all cheerio for now. Speak to you all tommorrow.
Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I've not posted over the week--besides having a bad week, we've had a lot of trouble with the internet, so haven't been able to use the computer until very late last night. Thank you all for your concern, it's lovely to know that I have caring friends on here.

Today my friend Janet, actually managed to get me to go to Nottingham with her--we got there by quarter to nine so there wasn't too many people there to start with. I bought quite a few Christmas presents, so I feel as though I have achieved something today. Alun then picked us up about 12-30p.m. then went to H--e
Bar----s, and then called in to see Jennie and Michael on our way home.
Towards the end of our shopping trip in Nottingham, I could feel the panic starting, but with Janet's help I kept it under control, but I was glad to get in the car.

I'll answer all your pm's to me, over the next couple of days. Thank you all again for thinking and caring about me.

Nearly forgot to say that I still haven't heard anything from the therapist, it was six weeks yesterday since I first seen him. Not sure if I should ring him or not, hopefully I'll hear from him this week.

Love and best wishes to you all. Sallie.xxx

Jean you little cheat, you added the eggs later. Naughty girl.
Sallie it is SOOOOO good to hear from you love. We have missed you.
It's high time that the therapist contacted you. You have coped so well considering.
Please let today be the begginning,of your road to recovery to good health.
I will pray for you.
Going in the shops,on a busy day like today, was very brave of you. And buying christmas presents. Can you give Jean and I some advice,on what to buy.
In my case,it's for a nine year old boy. My grandson, even his dad cant suggest what to get him. We never know what he is into at any one time.
Roly and I are not buying for each other this year.
P.M me if you should ever feel the need love.
Take care, lots of love Mo xxx

With our Grandchildren we have always asked them to make out a list and given them a top price. That way they get what theyw ant. The three eldest boys now have cash because they can then put it all together and buy something bigger with the money but we also buy a couple of little things, that may be jokey like very strong horseradish sauce or chillie sauce or a jar of olives, they all like their food and like to cook, even the 17 year old, that they like those sort of presents. When they were 9 it was computer games and books etc.

Jean Deanna is on the depressions and anxieties thread a lot.

Sallie glad you managed to get some Christmas shopping. I am now puzzling as to the word search you provided. H--e Bar----s Nope, can't work it out!!!!

Sallie Report 21 Nov 2009 22:03

Hi Mo,

I'm sorry but could you send me your e-mail addy again please, we seem to have lost it when we had the problems with the internet. I didn't want to go shopping today, but with Janet's gentle persuasion, I gave in to going.
We went for a cuppa and a muffin, about half way through our shopping, which was lovely. I don't know when I'm likely to go again, the only thing I know is that I can't go on my own.

I really wish I would hear from the therapist, the time is going on and I don't seem to be getting very far at all.

One of the problems this Christmas, is not knowing what to buy for a few people. I usually find something to buy for Chloe, but this year it's difficult to know what to get. Like your grandson's Dad, even her Mum doesn't know what to get her.

I'll say goodnight now and speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xx

Hi all, sorry I don't get on here much, am snowed under with emails again, I hear from lots of my friends who are unconnected with gr so can't leave a general message and they get worried if I take too long to reply!!

Am still waiting for this massive dose of Vitamin D to kick in, will be so disappointed if I don't feel some good effects, but if it stops my hair falling out will be something I suppose.

Got the things moved from my friend's garage yesterday before she moves on Monday, I will miss having her a couple of doors away as she is such a nice person. We will keep in touch but it's not the same as having her there if I want to chat with someone and she could tell me things and talk over her problems, she is divorced and only two out of her three children visit her and keep in touch. She is going to live with her Mum for the while, as she isn't very well at all, and the maybe buy somewhere else or rent somewhere.

O.h. will be on lates this coming week from Mon to Thursday so I can have some phone calls and watch what I want on tv, and will start on my Christmas cards too, so I don't get all behind. Hope I will get the chance to come on here more in the afternoons too.

take care all, glad to hear you are getting straight Jean, I know I have cupboards full of things at my house and also have lots more in storage, so will have to prune them all down at some point.

Good to hear others like the old staple, beans on toast with poached eggs, apparently it counts as a very well balanced meal!

take care all, catch up with you on Monday if not before

love

Mo in Kent Report 22 Nov 2009 18:06

Evening everyone,I'm back.
We have had the grandchildren here for the day.
I have been busy doing Word Searches, and Spot the Difference, with the youngest. She is six,and she has thoroughly enjoyed herself, getting me searching for her. Thats in between cooking dinner, and doing tea for them.
But I am not compaining,as I only see them once a fortnight.
I got them a Lucky Bag each,do you remember them. The only thing is,how much they have gone up in price, since mine were small. I believe
we used to pay £1.00 for them, but they are now priced at £2.00,and they still have thesame rubbish in them they have always had. I won't be getting them in a hurry again. I thought after all this time they would have improved them somewhat.
I hope the vitamin D helps Liz. Do you take it by tablet form,or injection.
It's always a shame when you lose a good neighbour. You are never sure who is going to replace them, they could be the neighbours from hell.
I spoke to my daughter today. She had to go and see her specialist on Friday. They took more xraysof all her joints, and asked her,was she aware that she has got a broken toe.
As she has got rheumatoid arthritus, she told them that she is in so much pain, that she would not have known,if she had broken her leg,let alone her toe.
Once again they have upped her medication, and given her another steroid injection.
I do feel for her,as if she has to give her job up,she will be so upset.
She has worked very hard to get to this point in her life. And at 44 she really wants to continue,so that she will get a full pension, when she retires.
But,what will be,will be.
I hope you all have had a good day.
It's been awful here again, rain and gale force winds.
Take care everyone. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hello All,

Hope the weather is better where you are, than it is here--it's wet, windy and gone much colder, best place is to be is at home with the heating on.

Mo, I didn't receive an e-mail Christmas card off you, it probably got lost in the system somewhere.

Ann, I hadn't heard of Home Sense, I should think that it's the same kind of shop as Home Bargains.

Liz, you are not the only one that hasn't done any cards ready for Christmas, I didn't even buy mine until yesterday. I'll have to try and make a start writing them.

Jean, sounds as though the house is getting back into order, it will be good to have it nice for Christmas.

Jennie was a bit upset this morning, a shelf that was put up about about five weeks ago ( one of those shelves from Ikea, where it looks as though it hasn't got any brackets ) just fell off the wall, and all her Betty Boop figures smashed to bits. A few of them were limited editions, and cost quite a bit more money, so she won't be able to replace them.

Hope you are all okay!

Speak to you all later.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 22 Nov 2009 18:22

Oh Sallie, what a shame all Jennies, Betty Boo ornaments. Can you claim on the house insurance for them.
I know they are a special edition, but it will enable her to buy some others,
and unfortunately,to start again.
That shelf should not have come away from the wall like that.
Mind you,if Roly had put it up,it probably would have done. LOL
I will send you the card as soon as I close on here,so watch out for it.
I hope you are feeling a little better today. Take care off yourself. Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 22 Nov 2009 18:30

Just seen your message Mo! Sorry to hear about your daughter, lets hope that she can carry on working until retirement, so that she gets a full pension. You are right about the lucky bags Mo, they've still got the same rubbish in them, the only difference is that they are double the price, to what they use to be.

So, pleased that you had a lovely day with your grandchildren, it's great to have them stay for the day.

I'm going to make us some tea now, I sure Alun is beginning to think that we are not having any today.

Mo, thank you for your e-mail card, it's really lovely. I love labradors, we had a golden lab years ago, she was such a beautiful dog, so loving and gentle. We had to have her put to sleep when Richard was three, and just weeks before Jennie was born. She had cancer for the last year of her life, she was thirteen and a half. I'd love another labrador, but I think that both Alun and I are getting too old for another dog.

Mo in Kent Report 22 Nov 2009 19:31

What do you mean, getting to old for a dog Sallie. Think off all the exercise you would get. And how much company they give you, also they don't answer you back.
I am so glad you liked the card,it is lovely isn't it.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Nov 2009 22:07

Poor Jennie, besides the fact that Betty Boop figurines are very collectable and possibly worth a bit, it is upsetting if you have spent time building a collection to have it wiped out like that. Did every one of them smash? I can only echo Mo and suggest checking her contents insurance, although sometimes things that are of some value have to be named separately.

Sallie

Sallie Report 23 Nov 2009 16:44

Hi Everyone,

Just dropped in to see how you all are.Thank you Mo and Ann for the advice on the insurance, I'll be speaking to Jennie later on, so I'll let her know. Ann the only think that didn't break was the perpetual calendar that Alun and I bought her last Christmas, that was on a different wall, so that was saved.

I'm trying to get the scrapbook finished, I'm getting there, but very slowly.

Still waiting for the therapist to get in touch, I gave the place a ring today as I thought that a letter might have got lost in the post. James (the therapist ) wasn't in today, so the lady I spoke to checked to see if he had tried to get in touch with me, but he hasn't even sent a letter. So I'm hoping he will be in touch soon.

Hope you are all alright. Speak to you later!
