Mo in Kent Report 5 Apr 2011 20:07

Hello my lovelies.

Sallie, you must be my good luck charm, we won last night 5-1 but lost the pairs 2-1.
We played our little socks off, unlike last week, where absolutely nothing went right.
Next week is another hard match,another of our bogus teams that we normally play abysmally against.
There are only two games left for this season, then we go into the knockouts.
As we lost the pairs last night, it looks like we wont be getting a trophy for being runners up, but we will end up as being third in the league.

Raindrops keep falling on your head, Huia. Thats the song thats been running through my brain since I read your posting.
I hope the rain has now stopped.

How did you get on at the dentists Sylvia. Oh lord I can't remember what
you said about the physio, I'm sure you said you had to go for that as well.

I hope the weather forecasters are right, and that tomorrow is going to be a better day. It's been like another winters day today.
I met my friends for coffee this morning, and cor was it cold. I was happy to get back home again.

Lets hope that Ann and T are enjoying better weather than us.

I hope that all our friends who have been under the weather, are feeling a little better today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Caz, Joyce, Marie,Tess and not forgetting our lovely Jean.
Bye for now girls love to all. Mo xxx
Huia
Huia Report 5 Apr 2011 21:46
Yesterday, it was only occasional heavy showers, with sunshine in between. There was a tornado took a roof off a warehouse at Papatoetoe (not very far from the airport). Nobody hurt, though. They had one in that area a few years ago in similar weather. Today is sunny at present but it was very cold last night, and still is. I dont know what the weather will bring as I missed the forecast on the TV. Anyway I am not planning to go anywhere.
I found more rat or mouse droppings in the toilet and bathroom yesterday morning and this morning there were a couple in the bathroom, and there was a small ball of wool in the middle of the lounge floor, so I suppose they are looking for stuff to line their nests. I am wondering if it is safe to put down some poison I bought. It says there is no secondary poisoning, so presumbably that means that the cat is safe if she eats a dead or dying rat. I might just set some out today.
Huia.
Hi Mo and everyone
Sallie .... do hope Jennie is OK
Huia ..................... I guess it is that time of year when the rodents want to get inside, away from the cold. But, poor you, to have to keep dealing with them.
Had a good visit to the dentitst on Monday ........ just the 6 month check up and cleaning, no other work needed. But it was pouring with rain. I have to take 2 buses to get there, and there is no shelter at either bus stop, so I got very wet!
Tuesday was physio .................. and my "treat", lunch at the nearby Japanese cafe.
Sallie Report 6 Apr 2011 15:12
Hi Ladies,
I'm wondering how Caz got on at the hospital today, I hope eveything went well for her.
Sylvia, the bus stops that you have there, sounds about as good as we have here.lol!. People that live on a main bus route are lucky as there's a bus shelter at every stop, but we only have one on the bus route that I use, the bus is usually late and sometimes it doesn't turn up at all.
Jennie went to the hospital this morning for her usual check up with the IBD nurse, the nurse seems to think that not only does Jennie have Crohn's Disease, but she also suffers from Irritable Bowel Syndrome too, so she is booking an appointment with the dietician for her.
Mo, pleased to hear that you won on Monday night. Well done to you and your team. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you''' win again next week.
Well, I'd better go and start getting ready for doing the weekly shop. I hate doing it more each week.lol!
I'll pop on again later, hopefully we might have heard something from Caz
by then.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Mo in Kent Report 6 Apr 2011 17:57
Hello everyone.
Still no news about Caz , oh how I wish we had something good to celebrate for a change, so fingers crossed everyone.
Huia, you poor thing, those dreaded rats are such a *loody nuisance.
Just when you thought they had gone as well. I seriously think it's time for a rat catcher now my love. The little blighters are leading you a merry dance.
You are so much braver than me, I think I would be sitting up all night, hammer in hand, waiting to bash their br.....s in, no I musn't say that.
What a pity they didn't strangle themselves, with the ball of wool. Sorry girls, but poor Huia has suffered for so long with these little devils.
Sylvia, are you trying to make us jealous, having a Japanese lunch, well........ you have succeeded you uhmmmm monkey, for want of a better word than a swear word.
Good to hear you have still got nice healthy teeth. I am dreading my next check up, as I know full well she is going to want me to have a crown done, but I will only have it done if the finances allow.
Sallie, poor Jennie. As if it's not enough for her to have the Crohns, she then starts with IBS.
IBS is bad enough on it's own,let alone having to suffer with the both of them.
I dare say she had to watch her diet previous to this diagnosis. But getting to know what we can and can't eat is a real nuisance, speaking from my own experiences, but believe me, you do get to know what your gut will or wont tolerate.
Ann, you will be delighted to know, " we have had beautiful weather today "
so warm in fact that I had to take my coat of, whilst I was in town. LOL
I actually sat in the glorious sunshine, in the back garden for a while this afternoon. It doesn't take much to please me does it.
I will pop back later girls. Love Mo xxx
Hi all
sorry about making you jealous!! But it really is a very nice, small place. We have loads of them around Vancouver.
Sallie ... sorry to that Jennie might also have IBS. It's a nuisance!
Like Mo, I also suffer from it ........... but I have the diarrhoea form.
I've learnt that I have to keep the amount of clear liquid that I drink down to below 1½ litres a day. I don't seem to have too many other reactions to food ............... at least not ones that I can identifiy!
BUT I have found that stress is very important for me. I seem to get an attack in the morning of every time that we are going to travel ........... whether ti is the ferry to the Island, driving up to the cabin, or a plane trip!
Take care everyone
Hi Sylvia.
I suffer with the complete opposite to you, but then it has gone from one extreme to the other over the years.
There are times that I am not aware that I am worrying about something, and it flares up, and it's not till after,I realise that I had been worrying about
the most futile things.
It was like when baby Lilly was rushed into hospital, when she stopped breathing.
It didn't dawn on me till days later what had caused my abdominal pains.
I have to drink as much water as I can stomach, as well as tea and coffee.
But dare not eat certain foods, for fear of a flare up.
This is such a worry, still no news from Caz.
Night Night God bless one and all. Love Mo xxx
Huia
Huia Report 6 Apr 2011 21:38
I put down some of the rat poison last night, in the kitchen and bathroom. It hasnt been touched and no droppings anywhere.
Mo, I dont want to pay somebody to do what I can do myself. Being in the country there are sure to always be rats and mice around, so I would be forever paying out. What I really need is a young cat who is a keen ratter/mouser. Chloe was good when we first got her, but she seems to have lost interest now.
Today is cold and it is supposed to be showery again, I think, but tomorrow (when I will visit Phil) and Saturday when I go to a class reunion are supposed to be fine. I hope it will be warm on Saturday so I can wear my summer clothes as my warm trousers are not very 'flash'. But I will wear them anyway if it is cold as I prefer comfort to being flash.
Hi Girls,
Thank you for your concern and best wishes for Jennie. She has been telling the IBD nurse for a while about the problems she's been having, but it seems that she hasn't taken much notice of what Jennie has told her, until today. Not sure when she'll get to see the dietician, but I don't think it will be too long.
Sylvia, I know what you mean about stress causing problems, Jennie usually finds that when she is anxious or worried about something, her Crohn's tend to play up..... if she has a bad cold, it's the same.
I was hoping that we might have heard from Caz, I hope everything was alright for her at the hospital.
If you're looking in Caz, I'm thinking about you and sending you lots of hugs and positive thoughts.
Mo, has your son gone up to Scotland yet? I'm sure you'll miss your lovely granddaughter while she's away. Never mind, you can give her some extra cuddles and kisses when they get home, it will be somrthing to look forward to.
I had a quick phone call from Joyce last night, to let us know that it is deffinitely gout in her other foot and not a broken toe, as some of us thought it might have been.
Huia, could you get someone in to try and get rid of the rat or mouse you are having problems with. Perhaps they might be able to find how they are getting in and block it up so that no more can get in. Anyway, good luck with getting rid of them once and for all.
Ann, glad to hear that it has brightened and warmed up a bit for you and T.
Hope it will continue that way, at least for the time you're there.
Jean, I hope you are feeling a bit better. Thanks for letting us know about Caz.......just hoping that it went well at the hospital for her.
It can't be too long now before your appointment at the hospital, sorry I can't remember the date you told us.....it's due to my age, I'm afraid.
Tess and Marie thinking of you both, and hope all is well with the two of you.
I'll speak to you all tomorrow. Take care everyone.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Wouldnt you know it? Just because I laid rat poison on the kitchen and bathroom floors last night, the cat decided to come in tonight, so I had to hurriedly shut doors so she couldnt get at them or the rat traps. I eventually put the poison back into its container and put the traps out of her reach and now she has gone outside again. She had come in because when I opened the front door to give her some food she felt the warm air from the fire I had lit, and it is a cold wind outside, plus some rain. I might put some poison down again now she is out, and take it up again in the morning.
Hi girls, I am so sorry I didn't come on last night but I was so tired and my legs had packed up so I went to bed early. Jean told me this morning you had all been asking about me and I was surprised by it, thank you for caring. I went for my usual visit to cancer doc before I collect my chemo, it was my favourite woman doctor and she asked a lot of questions about things I never associated with chemo, pins and needles and blood shot eyes etc, so I am a lot wiser now. She also sent me for an ultra sound because my leg is swollen and she wanted to rule out thrombosis, luckily it's not. OH went to pick my chemo tablets up while I sat in the sun, it was lovely, all the walking round hospital has made my back worse and it is so painful again so I can't sit for long at computer. I spoke to Joyce yesterday and she is very down, she has gout in both feet now and they are very swollen, what with the pain from her back and legs and now this she can't do much at all and has to stay in bed. I don't suppose you will see this Joyce but I am thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way.
Hi Girls.
Caz, pleased to hear from you and to know that things were alright for you at the hospital yesterday. It was good that you seen your favourite doctor, and that she explained a lot of things to you, and that she have ruled out thrombosis.
Marie, glad to hear that your leg is getting better. You really have been busy with doing the cards for the Hayward reubion. When is the reunion going to take place?
Tess, hope your meal out at the Lebonese Restaurant tonight. I don't know what kind of food you have there, but hope you'll enjoy it.
I've not been too good today, suffering a bit from ' the old black dog ' , something has upset me, but I'll be OK. so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.
Mo in Kent Report 7 Apr 2011 21:33
O.k Sallie, so whats this "the old black dog" then. This is a new saying to me, but it sounds like you are feeling down honey, is that it.
Don't forget, I am here should you want a chat. Keep your chin up my lovely.
Oooh Tess, you are so lucky going to all these different restuarants, and trying out other countries foods.
You must let us know what you had, and how it tasted.
I keep forgetting, you are going into your winter season now, arn't you Marie.
Just as we are starting to get some warmth, over here, you are going in the opposite direction, with chilly weather.
It sounds like you are making good progress with your reunion. Like Sallie, I am wondering when it is to be held.
Caz, it's so good to hear from you love.
We were starting to get a bit concerned, when there was no news.
It unbelieveable, that the symptoms from your chemo tablets, was not explained to you before now.
At least that way, you would have know what to expect.
Some of your problems that you have been having, could possibly be put down to the meds.
Thank the lord it was not a thrombosis in your leg. You will have to make sure you get as much rest as you possibly can, with your leg elevated, if you can. I know it's not very easy for you honey, but know that we are all thinking and praying for you.
Poor Joyce, gout is a very painful condition. No wonder she is feeling so down, not being able to get around as she would like, must be such a pain in the BTM for her.
She would normally love to be on here, or doing her card making.
How is Jan now, is he back at work yet.
It must have been very hard for the two of them, when they were both unwell at the same time.
Huia, poor old puss. She was probably wondering what the heck was going on around her.
You can imagine her thinking to herself. "huh she wanted me in, and now I am, she's shoving me out again."
Have you caught any of the dreaded beasties yet love.
Over here we have the Cats Protection League, who are always looking for good homes for cats, or kittens. Do you have anything like that over there.
Perhaps if you do, you could ask them for a good mouser or in your case a
ratter.
We have had two cats from the league, and both had been neutered before we got them.
Roly wants us to get another one from them, but I am still unsure.
No cat or kitten, will ever replace my Misty.
I have been a busy bee today. I have painted the back gate, inside and out, and painted one side of the garden fences.
We have got to replace two panels, so I will wait till we change them to do the end of the garden.
I suppose we are lucky in that we only have two fences to maintain.
But believe me my friends, I am well and truly cream crackered now.
I wonder if Ann and T are still having a good time. I bet they are. But just think girls, we have got glorious weather here, so no jealous outbursts coming from me today. LOL
((((((((((((((HUGS FOR OUR JEAN)))))))))))))))) I hope you are still o.k my lovely. Not long now till your hospital appointment.
I hope all is well with Sylvia, coooe Sylv's (((((HUGS FOR YA))))))))
Well girls, I am orft to my bed, coz I is shattered.
Night Night God bless one and all.
Mo, before you report me to the SPCA for cruelty, I did NOT shove her outside! It was her decision after being in for an hour. She came in again this morning. I gave her some food in the kitchen and she went out again of her own accord afterwards. She has probably gone to a warm spot in the sun for the day, when once the mowing man has finished.
I will be visiting Phil this afternoon, but I leave here before lunch, have my lunch in Papakura and then go to visit at 1pm when he has finished his lunch. He is more alert after lunch.
