Sallie, as long as you recognise that you are depressed and do something about it like talking to people, I find that helps. Dont ever hold it in and let it get too deep to climb out.

Hi all
xxx

we're having some lovely weather here ....... chilly nights, down to 2 or 3C, but the days are sunny and warm.

Had a bit of a nasty surprise on Tuesday

.................. OH went to the dentist for almost the last treatment of all this teeth work he has been having done. I think he has one more visit, possibly 2. They gave him an accounting of everything that had been done, amounts paid, etc .............. and a statement for the remaining amount of money

.................... it was for $30,000! That's somewhere about £12,000

And that brings the total we've paid to about 50% more than the original estimate said.

There also may be some more to pay following on the true last visit.

I went into meltdown 'cos I just couldn't see where the money was going to come from ........ without having us really draw in our belts.

Anyway, we've scraped the money together by maxing out a line of credit at the bank ........... but it's a good job that I have already paid for the tickets to go to see J&M in July, or we might have had to change our minds about going. It'll take us a long time (3 years) to pay off the line of credit.

BUT OH wanted to have it done, wouldn't have listened to me if I'd said "no". He did say that he was extremely surprised when they gave the statement to him ..... and was very worried about my reaction!

but the old black dog was certainly on my shoulder for a couple of days!

I was 15 mins late getting to visit Phil today and he had his eyes shut. He did open them briefly a couple of times. When I left I went looking for a dressy pair of trousers. The first place had some that didnt come quite up to my waist, and one pair would have had to have a foot or more chopped off the legs. I finished up buying a pair that was a bit on the loose side and needs the legs turned up about an inch or so. It was expensive at $159 and I wish now I hadnt bought it. I went to another shop and found the perfect fit, so bought 2 pairs at $49 each. Ah well, the first pair will do for washing the floor! At least I will look a bit more dressy when I go to the class reunion tomorrow than if I wore my fleecy track suit pants.

((((((((((((((((((((((BIG BIG HUGS FOR CAZ))))))))))))))))))))
Life is such a bu**er at times, and poor Caz,Joyce and our Jean have been through so much.
Holding you close to my heart Caz.

My god Sylvia, were your OH's teeth covered in gold.
No wonder you were so shocked, I know I would have fainted at that price.
Why the heck didn't they stop at the amount they quoted him.
Did they tell him that the price was was going up, or just assume he would pay the bill anyway.
Could you appeal against the costs, with them having doubled the amount.
I am just glad we have got a NHS dentist and don't have to pay for private treatment.

Huia, as Quinsgran has said, why don't you take the expensive trousers back and get a refund, or a credit note at least, rather than using them as
a floor cloth.
You will look very smart in your new trousers though, and no doubt more comfortable than wearing a skirt.
Enjoy yourself at the reunion, and let us know how it all goes love.

Hello Quinsgran, it's nice to see you posting, please come back and have a chat with us all sometimes.
We are friendly, caring people, who like to have a chat nearly every day, to update each other on whats occuring in our lives.

Well girls, I have been very busy again today.
Apart from getting all the weekly shopping in, I have painted all the garden furniture. It is going to need another coat though, as the varnish seems to have thinned, and has not covered properly. Oh well never mind, it will give me something to do on another fine day.

Bye for now my friends, speak to you soon. Love Mo xxx

Hi all
xxx

Mo

The increase was due to the extra work they had to do. OH's teeth have always needed a lot of work ...... we used to joke about sending the dentist on expensive holidays.

I think almost every tooth was crowned, so this dentist really didn't know what might be found when he removed each crown. There were also several root canals to be done

He now has a combination of implants, small bridges (2 teeth), and crowns .............. almost all in porcelain.

His other choice at the start of all this was dentures .................... basically everything that could be done had already been done and it was becoming obvious that crowns had to be removed, but there wouldn't be enough tooth left to replace the crown.

Unfortunately, implants are counted as cosmetic surgery by our insurance company, so very little of the work was covered to any extent.

We just didn't think that the final cost was going to be that high.

Mind you, he was determined to have it done, saying he couldn't face dentures.

I think the lesson I would now give to anyone thinking of having implants is to be aware that the cost of treatment may be much higher than the estimate.

Huia Report 8 Apr 2011 20:57

Yes, Sylvia, an estimate is just that. Now if he had been given a quote he really could object.

Re my expensive trousers, I wasnt really intending to use them for washing the floor. Maybe on Monday I will go back and see if I can change them for something else, a nice top or jacket.

Our cat Chloe slept indoors last night. I bought a litter tray and stuff to put in it yesterday. I dont know if she used it. The rats or mice used the bathroom floor, though. Not just droppings, a reddish puddle. I wonder if it is a female, or if it has some sort of health problem. Anybody know about such things?

I must go, I have quite a few things to do before I head off to Pukekohe for the reunion.

Most rat poisons include a blood thinner (which is what warfarin is). That causes internal bleeding ..... which shows by reddish urine

so ............ it looks as though at least one of the rats ate some of the stuff you put down.

We have to put down poison at the cbain because we get what are called wood rats getting in. Thye are a native speciaes, and in no way related to the Norwegian rats, which is what you get in cities, etc.

IF we have an invader during the winter, then we find that reddish urine.

Mo in Kent Report 8 Apr 2011 22:33

Huia, please be very careful with the rats urine. As it can cause Wields Disease.
I had to google for the spelling of it LOL.
And according to the site I was looking at, the rats also carry fleas.
As Sylvia said, it does appear that one or more of the rats have eaten the poison. Well lets hope so anyway love. I hope you manage to find them if they do die, or otherwise they will small the house out.

Sylvia, I can appreciate how your OH feels about dentures, Roly got his dentures in January, and will not wear them, as he says they are uncomfortable.
The darned things are sitting in a glass staring at me every time I go into the bathroom.
And I moaned about them costing him £200.00. I wont complain any more believe me.

Night girls. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 9 Apr 2011 06:21

The rats must have found some of the bait we put down several years ago before we got our cat as they have not touched the current bait (I have counted the lumps put out) and it contains no anticoagulant rodenticides. I see 'the acive ingredient is 940g/Kg powdered corncob in the form if a pellet'. 'Droppings will change from black to blonde indicating that rodents demise is now imminent.' I hope it works.

Jean, is your appointment at 9.00a.m or 9.00p.m. It must be a.m if it's all going to be over by lunch time.
Are you trying to confuse me again, you know it doesn't take much dont you. LOL
It's nice to hear that you had a good time at the 70th tea party. It's nice to meet up with friends you have not seen in a while.

We have had a lazy day today, after all the work we have done in the garden over the last few days, we deserved it.

It's been another glorious day here in Kent, but lets hope and pray, that this is not going to be like last year, when we had a few nice days in April, and then the weather changed for the worst, and we didn't get a proper summer at all.

Well girls, I will love you and leave you for now.
Take care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Sylvia, that dental bill is unbelievable. having said that, if all that work was done here it would be about the same as I would have to be done privately I'm sure.

Huia good luck again with the vermin. And hope you changed your trousers.

Jean will think of you on Friday and hope they can solve the head conundrum.

Sadly I see the weather at home is set to turn cooler next week. Ours here varies, yesterday was lovely sunny and hot, today cloudy and warm with bursts of sun.

Hope all our poorly friends will soon feel better.

Hello to you all,
I just lost the lot, so once more, I see Jean is a little better but Caz is having a bad time with the Chemo, and Dutch has gout ,No Joy in their lives or their Husbands lives it must be hard for them also.
Sending good Vibes to the three of you.

The Hayward Reunion is in Mackay QLD on Sat.1 st & Sun 2 nd of October.
I have spent the last Week on the computer looking up dates , and trying to find Hayward relatives in NSW. also trying to find some reasonable
Accomodation In Mackay for myself as I will need to be there on the thursday which means I need a bed for 3 night's and the cheapest I have found so far is $135.00 a night & it doesn't include breakfast so $135 by 3 = $405 + my Air Fare over $700 plus Meals, a lot of money.

I am trying to live on the smell of an oily rag to save some money.

I must be off I need to go and sit for awhile then have a nice cuppa and my night pills I will watch a little TV to try and switch the mind off the family research.
Love & Hugs to everyone. Almost forgot,
Quinsgran, I hope you put your head in again it is always nice to have a newcomer. Welcome** Wistles and Cheer's** from one and all.
Love from over the POND Marie.

Will be busy again over the next few days. Will try to get back t chat soon.
Sylvia, if I win on the lottery orpremiun bond, I shall treat myself to implants. Other than that I will just have to keep going round with gaps in the teeth.

Jean, caz, Joyce, Sallie and anyone else who i not well at the moment, thinking of you all, hoping you will soon feel better.

Hi to Quinsgran, hope that you continue to "visit".

Mo in Kent, my hair used to be very dark brown/black. It is now mainly white, with a little area of brown at the back.
