Hi everyone
xx

It was a lovely sunny day today ....................... although it had been forecast to rain!

Tess ....... after seeing what OH has gone through, I don't think I'd have the courage to have implants done!

Fortunately, I have pretty good teeth, despite being brought up during the war, with all its rationing!

Our large lottery was not won last Friday ...................

So this Friday it will be worth $50 million with 37 $1 million prizes.

we will, as always, buy our tickets on Friday afternoon!

Huia Report 12 Apr 2011 04:58

Sylvia, when our Lotto top prize gets over $30 million it has to be distributed. If the top numbers are not drawn then it goes down to the lower divisions. But last Saturday there were 2 people with the top numbers so they shared the $34 million, that was $17 million between them. More than enough I would so. Unfortunately I wasnt one of them :(((

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Apr 2011 05:11

Huia

This one is not allowed to go above $50 million ................. so if it isn't won, they increase the number of $1 million prizes.

I think $50 million is more than enough!!

Huia

Huia Report 12 Apr 2011 05:22

I quite agree. In fact our $34 million should be more than enough for most people, although having said that, I am sure I could easily use it, what with sharing with relatives, and I think I once promised Liz (the purple one) that if I won either I would come to visit her or I would help her to visit me, or possibly help her get her house finished. And of course there are some favourite charities that would benefit.

I can always dream, but it would be nice to win something, even if it is only $1000. I am well overdue to visit the dentist and I wouldnt mind a bit of special work done on my teeth.

Mo in Kent Report 12 Apr 2011 20:33

Good evening girls.
Sylvia, Huia, oh how we all wish we could win the lottery. We have never had a big win, I think the most we have had is about £20/ £30.
Roly does his numbers religiously every Wednesday, and Saturday. He even does the Euro lottery, and that has been an enormous amount of money at times, something like a hundred million euro's.
I keep telling him he is wasting his money, but his response is " you have to be in it to win it ".

I had some good news today. My grandaughter rang me, and she has passed her driving test, at her very first attempt. She is only 18, and she now wants a car. But apart from the expence of buying the vehicle, the insurance for someone her age is astronomical.
If she buys a car for lets say £1,000. her insurance would be double that.
She is such a lovely girl, and works very hard in her job, but I have no idea how she will ever be able to afford a vehicle.

I hope that Sallie, Jean ,Caz, and Joyce are on the mend, and that Ann is still enjoying her holiday.
Lets hope that Marie is not inundated with to many invitations, and gets a little time to get some rest and relaxation.
Tess, come back and see us when you are up to it love.

Bye for now my friends. Love Mo xxx

YorkshireCaz Report 13 Apr 2011 18:42

I'm here Huia, not been too well lately, it's the chemo that's making me feel rough, even my hair has started to come out. Then my fibro myalgia is bad and my back is playing up, why does it all come at once. As you can tell I am a bit fed up lately. I got two lovely bunches of flowers from my friends on here which cheered me up no end. Speaking to Joyce this morning and she says her feet have started to feel better so that's a good thing. She hasn't been out on her scooter yet and Jan says she hasn't to go out on the road on her own because she has no road sence, even though the village they live in is very quiet with not many cars about.
Sorry to go on but to say I am fed up is an understatement, hopefully I will be back to my normal self soon.

Love Caz xx

Hello everyone.

Now I don't know if I am going crazy, but I have got it written on my calender, that Jean is due to have her MRI Scan done tomorrow, and yet I am also sure that Jean said it was due to be done on Friday.
Please Jean, if you are looking in, will you let me know.
Wether it's tomorrow or Friday, you are in my prayers love, for a good outcome. As long as they can tell you what is causing the Vertigo, and cure it for you, it will be a blessing.

Caz, I do hope the symptoms of the chemo ease off soon. Have they said
that they will subside, as I remember your saying that it had never been this bad before.
I know the Firbro-Myalgia is something that has to be lived with, and that it is very very painful for you. But the other symptoms are making you feel worse arn't they love. Does the warmer weather help you at all Caz.
I know that it definately helps with my Arthritus, but the athritus is affecting my hands badly now. I am finding it difficult to grip things properly, and have now become a one fingered typist.
I spilt a cup of coffee everywhere yesterday, because I hadn't gripped it properly.

It's good to hear that Joyce's feet are staring to feel more comfortable.
Could Joyce ride on the footpath's by her home, instead of the road, on her scooter. The sooner she gets the hang of it, the more independant she will feel. And she will then be able to go and visit her friend that lives locally to her, for a nice chat.

Huia, no tsunami here, thank god, just freezing temperatures again today.
It's like being back to winter weather. In fact I have had to put the heating back on again, I have been that cold today.
Any more news on the dreaded Rats love.

I hope that our Sallie is feeling a little better, we do miss seeing her posting.
It's strange not hearing how her and Alun are faring. (((((HUGS))))) for Sallie.

And where has Sylvia got to, I miss hearing from her as well.
It's so nice to get news from over the waters, from Huia, Sylvia and Marie.

I will say bye bye for now girls. Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Ooops hi there Tess and Ann and anyone I may have missed.

Hi all
xx

sorry Mo ... it's tax time here. We have to get all out bits of paper together and get them filed by the end of the month. I always leave it to the last minute! We do have an accountant who does the actual filing, but we still have to find all those bits ................ receipts for charity donations, emdical receipts, T4s (receipts that show how much you have been paid in salary or pension), etc etc. The medical receipts is the worse one ...... and that is my responsibility! OH does all the rest.

re the lottery ......... we won $1000 (ca £400 or so) a few weeks ago, and that is the largest amount we have won in all the years we've been buying the tickets. We buy 3 a week ....... one is drawn on both Saturday and Wednesday, and the other only on a Friday. We always play the same numbers.

You'd think they would have come up for a big win at least once wouldn't you? lol!!

take care everyone

Caz .... so sorry to hear you are feeling so rotten. (((xxx)))

Hi all, writing this while T watches football, cooked in tonight for a change. Lovely sunny day today and hot as well so we lazes around here after a short walk down for coffee and a read of the D Mail (provided free in the local restaurant).

Caz, so sorry you are feeling rough from the chemo, I hope the effects ease soon as it is obviously dragging you down.

Pleased to hear that the pain is easing in Joyce's feet. Trouble is, if she doesn't get any practice on her scooter she wont acquire road sense.

Caz, I do feel for you with all your problems, not that I can really know what it is like for you. It makes my small problems seem silly.

Mo, the rats havent been in for a few nights now. I dont know if it is the fact that the cat has now been coming inside at night, or the fact that I had a go at blocking off what I am sure is their means of access. The only trouble is that with the cat in I now have to leave the door to the basement partly open so she can go out if she wants to in the night. I did buy a litter tray and filled it with litter but she thought it was just a bed and tried lying in it.

My best wishes to all the other old crocs and not-so-old crocs and others who are not having the troubles that the crocs are having.

Thanks Jean, I have got the message now, over and out.

Hi Sylvia. I am so relieved we don't need to do tax returns. Well on what little pensions we get, there is no need thank goodness.
I can't even gift aid my charity donations any more, as we don't pay tax, and that has really cheesed me off, as I feel the charities should get the whole of the monies, and not a part of it.

Thank goodness the rats have not appeared recently Huia. Maybe the cat is doing her duty now,and protecting you from them.
It's very hard to get an older cat to adapt to a litter tray, when they have got used to going outside for their toilets. We had that problem with our Misty.

Hi there Ann. It's pleasing to hear that you are now getting decent weather.
More than I can say for here today, it's been really cold.
I bet it was nice to have a home made meal for a change, I love to eat out, but love to have a proper roast dinner at home.

Night Night all. Love Mo xxx

Good evening ladies.

Marie, Ooooooh I do hope you win that lotto, it would be great to meet you.
Do lots and lots of tickets, with all different numbers, damn the expense girl.
If I thought it would help, I would offer to go out singing on the street corners, to raise the money for your lotto funds, but the only money that would bring in, is if they paid me to get rid of me.
Couldn't you just see me,stood there with a hat at my feet, singing at the top of my voice, frightening all the local cats away, and the police there moving me on. I don't think that will happen somehow do you.
I hope your grandsons party goes of well, and that no trouble arises from it,thats the last thing they need.

Sallie, it's good to hear from you love.
I hope whatever problems you have faced, are soon dealt with, coz we miss you honey.

Sallie Report 14 Apr 2011 22:01

Hi Girls,

It's been one of those weeks here, with a few things happening My friend's. brother died in the early hours of Monday morning, so have spent some time with her over the last couple of days.

Yesterday Jennie had to go into hospital with what we all thought was another flare up, but it turns out that she's got a water infection so is on antibiotics.....the thing is, she didn't have any of the usual symptoms, she was just in awful pain. She's home now, thank goodness, still in some pain but not as bad as it was yesterday.

There's been a couple of other small probs, but they are also sorted out now.
I seem to have spent so much time on the phone this week, I haven't had much time to make cards or come on here.lol!

Jean, good luck for tomorrow, hope it will all be sorted out for you soon.
I will be thinking about you.

Marie, yes ' the Black Dog is on my shoulder ' is what Winstone Churchill used to say when he was depressed. Although I feel so much better now, I still get the odd day when I feel down, but even that is nothing like it was.

Ann, pleased to hear that you are having some good weather now.
Hope T enjoyed the football last night. Alun was hoping to watch it, but we were at the hospital with Jennie, so he missed it.

Mo, well done to your granddaughter on passing her driving test first time. The cost of car insurance is terrible, especially when they first start driving.

Richard pays his car insurance by direct debit each month, but they had taken it out today, a day early, so he wasn't happy about that.....it's Christie's birthday today and as it was his day off he was going to take her out somewhere to celebrate, but it will have to wait until he gets paid tomorrow. It's nice to have the convenience of a car, but as we all know it's the cost of having it, that isn't so good.lolol!!

Huia, I hope you have finally got rid of the rats. Let's hope that the cat will keep them away.

Caz, if you are looking in , I hope you are feeling a little bit better. When do you go for you next hospital appointment?

I heard from Joyce this evening, she sounded a bit brighter than she's been for a while. As Caz has said, Joyce's feet have gone down quite a bit, so let's hope that she won't get anymore problems with gout.

Sylvia and Tess hope you are both OK.

Well, I'll speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

I am still feeling at odds with everything so not on the computer much, but think of you all with great fondness very often.

Huia, I did get £84 on the lottery on the Saturday before Mother's Day, on my late Mum's numbers so maybe things will work their way up to a bigger win. If so I will just take off, and won't pack much as I can buy and discard things if I am filthy rich lol
