Sylvia great to hear that will not even have to take Tamoxifen now. You must be over the moon. I wish you a long, happy and healthy life.

We've been to do the weekly shop, the prices just seem to go up every week, and some things have gone up by as much as a pound. If the prices keep on going up like they are I'm just wondering what we'll be able to afford to eat very soon.
You can tell from what's left on the shelves and how much people have in their trolley that people just can't afford to pay the prices.
Sorry about that.... moan over now!

Ann and Mo I'm not too keen on flavoured tea, I've tried it a few times when I've been at Jennie's and at Richard's. So I'll have to think about what else Ican have instead of tea.

Hope all our other friends on here are okay.

I'm just gouing to finish a card off now and then I'm going to watch The Jury....I didn't think I would get into it but I'm enjoying it so far.

Speak to you soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Huia, I used to drink Horlicks many years ago, not had it for a while. How about hot choco;ate Sallie, would you drink that. My after six drink is either G&T, sherry or tomato juice, then if I want anything else to drink it is water.

Joyce, good to see you on here, sorry you are still in pain and were not too good when in UK. naughty girl for flying when advised not to, good job the airline didn't know.

Caz, I had not seen that you had a fall but I was not on here for 3 days. Hope you are getting over it now.

Sylvia, great news not to have to take anything, well done, pleased for you.

Mo, chuckled at your remarks re the darts team moaning. Not worth going if you can't enjoy yourself is it? :-) :-)

Hi all,
Oooh look theres our Joyce, it's soooo good to see you posting lovely lady.
My word you are a naughty girl arn't you, doing what you are not supposed to. LOL, Rules were meant to be broken weren't they, but you MUST take care of yourself, and not overdo things.
It must have been lovely for you to see the new babies, and the rest of the family. Poor Jan must have been pulling his hair out, worrying about you though.

It's great to hear that our Caz's bloods and cancer are behaving themselves.
I just wish she could have more luck with her health.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS FOR CAZ)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Ann, I am out with the crazy gang tonight at darts. Much joy and laughter will be the order of the night.

I must go now girls, got to get myself ready, and these days it takes me hours to put the poly filler in the cracks on my face. ;-)

Love to all of you. Mo xxx

Huia Report 11 Nov 2011 09:11

I have had a busy day. I went to visit Phil first, but he didnt want to open his eyes so I left and went to Manukau to ask, in the shop where I bought the tent, a question about putting it up. BTW, the parts were incorrectly labelled, but I soon sussed that. I then went to Papakura and bought some extra tent pegs and a few other bits 'just in case I needed them.' Then I went to Clevedon and put the tent up. The man from the next site helped me with the last bits. It was mainly putting the actual tent over the frame as I wasnt tall enough and the man had trouble too until he thought of lowering the legs. I will be going to the show early tomorrow with the rest of my gear, so I will be off to bed very soon.

See you another day. (My son will be here when I get home tomorrow afternoon.)

Huia.

Hi girls, Joyce it's nice to see you on here, don't leave it so long next time though.
Sylvia it's good to see your news, I hope it stays like that.

Good innit! My blood shows no cancer, I had such a big grin on my face even the consultant was smiling. I have to take hormone tablets as a precaution, not Tamoxifen this time but I don't mind that.
Ann I didn't put it on the thread that I had fallen as I had to lie flat for a day or two, it would happen at that time, I was dying to meet them all, really looking forward to it.It would have been lovely to have had a good natter.
Mo I hope Roly's feeling better by now, must have been painful.
I don't like hot chocolate, I much prefer cocoa, must be a hangover from being young when my dad used to make it for us. I'm like Sally though, a tea freak.
Hope everyone else is ok and staying well.

Love Caz xx

Mo Hope you enjoyed your darts.

Sallie I hope you are getting rid of that cold and feel better.

Huia, Looks like a busy day for you tomorrow then, hope the tent stays up :-D

We have been to Cheltenham today for a look round. The bus was crowded with people going to the remembrance parade and also the races are on so a lot of men were going there. It was extremely cold which was a suprise as we had been promised some milder weather his weekend, I bought myself a new scarf in BHS, it was reduced from £7 to 4.50 then they had an extra discount on everything day so it actually cost me £3.90. A bargain as it is a nice light soft and warm scarf but not too thick. Some of mine are too bulky.

Hi all
xxx

Caz ...... so glad to hear your news! xxxx

Huia .... hope the day goes well.

It is Remembrance Day here, big services at all the cenotaphs and memorial parks across the country. It is also a Statutory holiday.

It was pouring with rain all morning ................. yet the numbers in attendance are still increasing. More and more young people are attending, and young families are taking their children to the services.

Nice to see.

The rain stopped about noon ......... but we have just had thunder, a hailstorm, and a cloud burst! All in the space of about 10 minutes!!

We also have a wind warning for later this afternoon.

Take care everyone

Lol Sylvia, when I clicked to the last post on the thread all I saw was you saying 'errrr the wind has arrived'. It wasn't until I scrolled down that I realised you were not referring to an unfortunate personal experience :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D I hope the wind didn't do any damage.

Caz, sorry I was not ignoring you but you jumped in while I was posting and I missed you. Not had cocoa for years but do remember that I used to like it as a child. I do like hot chocolate though, I think it is richer than cocoa.

Ann

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Ferry traffic up and down the coast has been halted as it is too dangerous for the ships to dock or leave dock.

Tanker ships are also having problems keeping under way ......... please God, no accidents or groundings with them

Lots of trees blown down, especially in the city just across the river from us (about 2 miles away) and many people without power in that city.

There are also apparently trees down around the university.

It was quite amazing .................. I sat here and watched about 80-90% of the leaves on our big old cherry tree blown off within a space of about 10 minutes :-0 It was still almost fully covered with leaves until that moment.

Sallie ...... hope you feel much better tomorrow.

Here we go again, I lost my last post, so I will make this very short.
I hope everyone is o.k, and that Sallie is feeling a lot better today, and getting over her cold/flu bug.

Sylvia, what a shame losing all the cherry tree leaves like that,I do hope the winds have lessened now, and that you are both safe and not been blown away with the gale force winds.

I hope to be able to get back and speak to you tomorrow, if not it means that my laptop needs to see the doctor again.
My CAPS LOCK button keeps sticking and not releasing itself, then the darned lappy keeps freezing.
I have done a defrag, so I am not sure what else to do with it.
Bye for now my friends, I will return as soon as is possible.
Love to all. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 12 Nov 2011 21:03

Hi Everyone,

Thank you Ann and Sylvia, I'm feeling better today than I've been for the last couple of days, the cold is slowly going, thank goodness.

Alun and I have been to Meadowhall, Sheffield today, so that we could get some Christmas presents. We bought for quite a few people, so I will have to put on my thinking cap now on what to buy for the rest of them.

Sylvia, hope the high winds didn't cause too much damage and disruption there, and that there were no accidents. It must be very frightening for you all.

Caz, like you I love my cup of tea and also prefer cocoa to hot chocalate.
Jennie loves the hot chocolate from Starbucks, but it is too sickly for me so I just stick to their tea which is really nice.

Huia, hope the show went well for you and that your son arrived safely.

Ann, I looked at scarves today in BHS and M&S to give as Christmas presents, but all the ones I looked at although thick were from £18-£22, which I thought was a lot to give for a scarf.

I wonder where our Mo is today. Maybe she's babysitting Lilly.
Mo if you are looking in, I hope Roly is feeling better.

Hope all is well with Jean, Marie, Tess and Joyce.

Well ladies I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Sallie, weeeell I bought myself a silver evening scarf from Poundland Thursday, and it is good quality too. But I have noticed that scarves in all the main shops except BHS were around £15. BHS did have quite a few for £6-£7.

Sylvia, I hope the gale force winds have dropped now. I do hate strong winds.

Mo, hope you get the lappy fixed or it fixes itself.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Nov 2011 05:07

Hi all
xxx

The wind dropped, but well over 30,000 people were without power for many hours ...... the main problem was on Vancouver Island, so I am hoping that our friends are OK.

The rain poured down again today ..... it really was a miserable November Day in Vancouver!

I went downtown for some retail therapy ................. I found several of those open fronted knit cardigan/vests that have been so popular for the last year.

I've discovered that one that I bought in the summer is great .... it provides just the right amount of warmth, and also provides some "camouflage" ..... so I splurged and bought 4 of them, in different colours and styles (and by different makers). They all either have no sleeves or very short sleeves.

They were ALL on sale! Two of them were less than half price.

............... but I'm not about to tell OH how much I did pay ;-)

Never mind, it didn't come out of the housekeeping .............. I have a little account of my own.

Hope all is well with you

Do you mean like waistcoats? Or gilets? I have several I wear around the house.
