Hi Girls,

Ann, thanks again for letting me know about the card. We again had trouble trying to send them and one of the cards just wouldn't send....for some reason Yahoo seemed very slow again.

I wonder why GR are doing the survey that's on top of General and Genealogy boards but not on any of the others. I hope they are not going to put the threads together. Some of them on Genealogy can't see any reason for having a General Chat thread, I just hope GR won't listen to those.

Even though some of the threads here on General are pretty slow at the moment a lot of people would be lost without it if GR took it off.

Huia, everytime you post you seem to have more and energy. Maybe now that you have had the last of the meetings you can unwind and relax a bit more.

Good to know that Phil was awake when you visited him yesterday. It must have been lovely for you.

We rang Alun's sister on Sunday night, she was telling us that her OH is becoming a lot more difficult now. If they go anywhere that he doesn't want to be he really shows it by shouting out in his mumbled way and banging on a the nearest table or chair that's nearest.

They are hoping to come down here next week, he's fine for a while after they arrive but when he's had enough and ready to go he becomes very aggitated.
I know Lynda feels awful about it but we are not bothered because we understand the situation. Just wish that we could change things for them both...but of course it's out of our hands.

Well I'm going to get on with some more cards now before we go and do the weekly shop later this afternoon.

Take care everyone.

Speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Sallie have yous een your cards on the blog and Annx's beadwork?
I am sorry to hear about your brother in law. Awful thing to suffer from isn't it? Alun's poor sister, it must be so hard to see the person you love become just a shell of the person they were.

Jude I am sorry to hear of your friend being so much worse. as you say the kindest thing now would be for it to end for her.

Huia, I wish I had half your energy.

Mo I am sure you were in there somewhere but don't want to trawl back again so ~~~~~~~~~~~ <3

Off now to write up some of the 150+ Christmas cards I have to send.

Mo in Kent Report 16 Nov 2011 16:32

Hi there everyone.
Ann you are making me feel so guilty. I MUST write my cards out that have got to go to Australia, and New Zealand very soon, or I will miss the postage date.
Does anyone know the last date for posting to these countries please.
I sometimes wish I could get get a stamping machine, that say " a merry christmas to you all" and then our names written on it as well. It would save a lot of writers cramp wouldn't it. lol
Knowing all you crafters, you will probably tell me that you can actually buy them.

It's good to hear from you again Jude, please come back and speak to us again soon.
Sorry to hear the sad news about your friend Jude. Alzheimers is awful for the people caring for the sufferers. Seeing the ones you love, go down hill is very upsetting.

Sallie, I hope that if Aluns sister does come up to you on Sunday, with her OH that he feels he can stay longer with you, so that Alun is able to have a good chat with his sister.
She must need the break as well bless her.
Oh by the way, how is your brother now love.

Huia, will you slow down a bit please, you are making me giddy with all this dashing around. It's not your computer clock thats running slow, it's your body clock trying to catch up with you love.

Hi Marie, didnt mean to ignore you honey. Hope things are good over in OZ.

Gotta go girls, I am in the middle of making a curry , ooooh yummy.
See you all later, love Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 16 Nov 2011 17:17

Sallie, could I ask you to post on the craft thread about the bead work, I don't thin Annx reads this thread. Thanks.

Done a few more cards Mo and yes you can buy happy christmas stamps in places like hobbycraft.

enjoy the curry. :-D

Huia

Huia Report 16 Nov 2011 19:56

I havent started thinking about Christmas cards, so mine could easily be late arriving. Sorry about that, anybody who is expecting one from me before Christmas.

I hope my current 'energy' will last, but I doubt if it will. At least I am losing a little bit of weight but the trouble is that I sometimes splurge on the wrong food when I am out.

Must go downstairs now to make some more stakes for signs.

Huia.

Sallie

Sallie Report 16 Nov 2011 22:19

Hi again,

Ann, yes as soon as I finish on here I'll write on the craft thread about Annx's beading work.

I've had a brak from making cards today and decided to get on with some more of my brother's desk calendar that I'm making as part of his Christmas present. I'm making one with a different photo of a meerkat for each month as he loves them , so I just hope he'll like the calendar.
When I've done a few pages of it, I'll put some on your blog, Ann.

Mo, I still have all my cards to write and although I've bought most of the presents I still have quite a few to get and of course wrap them all up. Both jobs that I always enjoyed doing when I was younger but feel it's a bit of a chore as I've got older.

I was speaking to my brother and sister-in-law on Monday night they are both fine thank you. John seems to be enjoying his life as a vicar and getting on OK.
Alun and I are hoping to go to see and them within the next month so that we can take their Christmas presents down for them. It's almost a year since we've down to see them,so I'm looking forward to going.

Sorry Mo not sure when the final posting dates are, I must look in Post Office when I go there next.

How is Lilly and your granddaughter's baby getting on? I'm sure they are growing really fast.

Huia, you really are very busy, I'm sure your energy will last long enough to finish what you have to do. Good luck with everything.

Jude, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope that she doesn't linger too long, for both her sake and her family and friends.

As you say Alzheimers is such a horrible disease for both the sufferer and their family. My brother-in-law's brother also suffers from it, although it's a different kind to what Alan has. We didn't realise until Lynda told that are different kinds of the disease.

Well I'll say goodnight to everyone now and will speak to you tomorrow.

Love and best wishes, Sallie.xxx

There you go posting dates.

Sallie the calendar sounds nice so I look forward to seeing a few pages on the blog.

Dutch your family does seem to be having a bad time with illnesses doesn't it. Don't worry about letting it all out on here, it must be difficult not having anyone there to talk to and we are here to listen. Sorry you are still in pain, wish they could do something for that. <3

Sallie Report 17 Nov 2011 10:31

Hi Ann thanks for putting all the ' last posting' dates on here, I must start to write my cards so that I can get them sent. The trouble is I'm either busy making the cards and calendar and then out trying to buy Christmas presents I don't seem to have time to write the cards. I just don't know where the time is going.

Dutch, good to hear from you, as you know we all love to see all our friends on here.
I'm really sorry to hear about Jan's cousin. Is there any treatment that they can give him that would get rid of the cancer or at least extend his life and make him more comfortable?

It sounds as though there isn't much more that they can do for Jan's aunt, lets hope that she can be kept as comfortable as possible and that she doesn't linger and suffer too long.

How is your card making going? Hope you are managing to make at least a few cards, even though you are in a quite a bit of pain.

I wonder where Jean is...I expect she's still busy making her cards.
Hope all is well with her, Jeff and Debra.

Oh I'd forgotten, it maybe be that she is off line for a few days until all their computer system is sorted.

Mo, are you out playing in a darts match tonight? Good kuck, hope you and your team will have a good win. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

How are things with Roly and the kidney infection he had? I hope it has all cleared up for him by now.

Ooooh it looks as though it's brightening up here, blue sky starting to come out...it was very grey, dark and cloudy earlier on, so let's hope it stays bright now.

I'm going to make myself a cuppa now, so will pop in again later on.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 17 Nov 2011 19:02

Good evening all.
Oh Joyce, I am sorry to hear of your bad news. Why do these things always come in waves, and swamp us with sorrow.
Stay strong love, for both yourself and Jan.

Ann thanks very much for finding the posting dates for us. I am sure it will come in very handy for those of us who have friends and family across the sea.

Sallie, yes my friend I do have darts tonight. Apparantly the team who we are playing tonight, are real heavy drinkers. This should prove interesting, for I am a non drinker, but quite a few of our team do enjoy a tipple, but they are saying that the opposition tonight are worse than them. lol ;-)
I should take my camera with me, to capture all the escapades, but I am always wary of my bag being stolen whilst I am playing, so I dont think I will bother.
Roly seems a lot better thank you. At least this time the surgery have not rung to say that the urine sample showed the kidney infection, so god willing it will have cleared up.

Jude thank you for the Link, it will be a help to some of out friends.
I hope your hair turned out as you wanted it to.

Must go now girls, take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Hi girls just a short message so you don't forget me, lol. Joyce sorry about your legs but there is nothing else you can do is there, I will ring you on Sat. I had my hairdresser this morning and she has done a very good job, sometimes it is not to my liking but this morning it's lovely, don't know why I'm bothered as I don't go out much.
Jeans computer is being sorted out but she will be back with us soon.
Ann the last posting dates will come in very handy, thanks for that. I haven't even started on making my cards, must make a start soon.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

Hi all

Joyce .... so sorry ot hear that you have so mnay problems.

Caz ........ you like having your hair done because it makes you feel a little better when your hair is clean and neat.

I know I definitely did for the first 3 weeks after my op, when my hairdresser was washing and blow drying it for me.

Just one point re the UK posting dates

The dates for posting are for seamail

...................... we get most of our cards from England by the first week in December, because people have obeyed those dates.

BUT Royal Mail sends them airmail :-D

The earliest we've received a card was around the 10 November ......... which was just after when I think RM issued the posting guidelines that year :-D :-D :-D

We do not have seamail, or any cheaper rate, over here ................. so we tend to ignore posting dates! We're going to pay the same in November as we will on December 20!

Take care everyone

Caz As if we could forget you. But we do like to see your ok so like to see you on here. I am sure that your hair looks lovely and you obviously feel better for it.

Mo, Hope the darts went ok and the drinking was after the match and not before or they wouldn't have been able to see the board.

Sylvia, thanks for that, I did realise but it is true the post office don't say I always send mine early to get them out of the way.

All cards written and stamped, just the ones that need letters in to finish off now. And I had made too many cards so will have some ready for next year :-D :-D

Sallie Report 17 Nov 2011 22:47

Hi Girls,

I'm late tonight, been busy doing the calendar, I've only just got to put 2012 on each page and then it's finished. It's the first I've made a calendar, so hope my brother likes it.

Caz, lovely to hear from you, as Ann said we would never forget you.
Glad to hear that you like your hair....I'm pleased to know that there is someone like me, it's always hit and miss when I go to the hairdressers on whether I like it or not. Still, like Sylvia said, we all feel better when our hair is clean and tidy.

Thanks for letting us know about Jean, hope she'll be back with us very soon.

Sylvia, thanks for the extra information, I thought that all overseas mail now went by air. So much for my knowledge.lolol!!

Mo, glad to hear that Roly is better, I know how poorly he must have felt because of Jennie having had a kidney infection when she 10 she was really poorly, bless her.

Hope the other team remained sober enough to play tonight, it's a wonder they are able throw the darts straight if they are all heavy drinkers.lol!

Ann, I feel envious that you are so organised, I still have to write all my cards and of course wrap the presents that I have bought so far. I'm hoping that I can do most of it over the weekend.

As soon as Alun takes the photos of the calendar pages I'll send them on to you.

Jude, thanks for the link from your friends daughter, I'm sure it will be of help to quite a few people.

Well ladies, I'll say goodnight to you all now, will speak to you all tomorrow.Take care.

Love and best wishes, Sallie.xxx

Good evening everyone
Or should I say have a good night as I have just seen what the time is !!!
I have been looking through old photos of my Dad's and seeing what ones I can share with some cousins. I am custodian of them now, my siblings aren't too interested at the moment. But I will need to get rid of the many flower pictures and those of people and places that I don't know. Mum seldom wrote info on the backs. There are many albums that only my parents knew where and when they were taken.
This evening I have managed to type my Christmas letter and added some photos as well this year. Quite an achievement, under the cicumstances. But I now have about 100 cards to write. Not all have the letter thank goodness. I have made about 30 cards this year, much more basic than our creative friends here I'm afraid.
Have a good weekend my friends. I might be up to my neck in cards and stamps.
