So fast Sallie it has put up your post twice :-D
I did think about calling in to the shop but we were not wanting to hang around because of the protest march that was due.

If you go to the help button at the top you will find support. Send a message on that. If you don't get anywhere with that put a message on the suggestions board with the title 'A question for Phil' then write out the problem you are having.

Sallie Report 30 Nov 2011 19:55

Ann just deleted one of the posts, I was in a bit of a rush so didn't realise that it had posted twice.

Thanks for letting me know how to go about contacting Phil, I think it might be best if I put it on the suggestions board so that I know he will see it.

Everyone else must have gone Christmas shopping again today Ann.

It was absolutely crowded in the Asda we go to, Lee Evans was there signing his new book. Alun said there were a couple of drivers arguing over a parking space.lol!! We didn't know Lee Evans was there so couldn't understand why the car park was so crowded when we arrived there, as it's usually pretty quiet on a Wednesday.

Mo in Kent Report 30 Nov 2011 20:16

Hi Sallie,Ann , Sylvia and Huia, and all our other friends when they look in.
Sallie, Lee Evans was up at Blue Water for a promotional afternnoon last week.
I dont know if he has released a new dvd or cd or a book even, but my daughters boyfriends daughter,(confusing I know) went up there to get his autograph. I am not a fan of his, I have to admit, and cant understand why a 14 year old would want his autograph.

I got the christmas decorations out of the shed today. The tree is up, and waiting to be decorated. But I wont be putting many other things up this year, they are nothing but dust collectors anyway. Cor dont I sound like mrs scrooge ( bah humbug ).
It took me ages to separate the branches of the flamin tree. When I packed it away last time, I must have scrunched it into the box, and boy oh boy, did it need some sorting out. lol :-(

The presents for the dinner table are now bought and wrapped. I just dont know what to get Roly. When I asked him what he wanted, I got a negative response. Perhaps he's not buying me one this year, boo hoo.

Hope to speak to you tomorrow. Love to all. Mo xxx

Huia Report 30 Nov 2011 20:29

Hello girls.

I have had 3 afternoons working in the hospice shop. On Tuesday the manager decided to have a half price sale on all clothes as we had so much. One young woman bought a wedding dress which we have had there for about a year priced at $60, so she got it for $30. Not sure how much that is in English pounds, maybe about 15. What a bargain. Presumably it had been worn only once.
Wednesday (yesterday) it was half price on clothes and books. I didnt have a helper behind the counter so was kept busy.

I must remember to get my Christmas Tree out to take to the hospice shop. I dont think I put it up last year.

Today I am going to visit Phil as it is about a week since I last went. I have been so busy.

Huia.

Good evening everyone
Well time is going far too fast. But I have written my Christmas cards now. I have a couple of cross stitch ones to finish then that will be one job done. I have a few gifts bought but others still to sort !! What to get being the biggest problem.
Like Mo when I asked my hubby what he would like, I usually get the answer nothing, rather difficult as it is his birthday on 22nd Dec too. But he really doesn't need much.
We went to Marlborough this morning. It was a lovely day and they have a street market today so a nice day to go. Mind there were a lot of children there. Must have had a lot of schools closed.

I'll try to get back soon

Sallie Report 2 Dec 2011 18:13

Hi Ann, hope you and T have a great weekend in Bristol. Is it Christmas shopping on Sunday and Monday morning, or is it all done? Hope you get some good weather for this time of the year.
Enjoy and take care!

I've had a busy day writing out quite a few Christmas cards, but still have a lot more to do.I hope to finish them all over the weekend.lol!!
Alun has a model railway show on Sunday so I will be on my own for the day.

Mo, I don't like Lee Evans very much either, although Jennie, Michael and Richard and their friends all think he's good. They went to see him in Nottingham a while back which I thought was a waste of money. It must be my age!!

Linda, hope you and your family are nearly finished sorting out your mum's house, it's such a tedious job.
Pleased that you enjoyed your day out at Marlborough. I've only ever been through there in the car but never stopped there.

Hope all the rest of our friends on here are all alright. It's been very quiet again over the last two days. I expect everyone is busy.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Sally and girls, not been on for a while because of the usual, it's been terrible. I haven't even bought/made my christmas cards yet, I'm going to have to get a move on with them or I will miss christmas altogether.
It's been freezing cold last few days, glad we have good central heating, it's been given out that we could have some snow over the weekend and there were a few flakes coming down this morning, winter is here.
Mo thanks for your christmas card it came this morning.

Love Caz xx

Sallie Report 2 Dec 2011 21:17

Hi Caz, nice to see you posting but sorry to hear that you haven't been too good with the usual problem. Don't worry about it if you can't send Christmas cards, I'm sure that everyone you send them to will fully understand why.

It's freezing here too, we went out this evening for a few things and I was glad to get home....never use to mind the winter but as I've got older I don't like it at all and just want to stay in in the warm.

I hope we don't have any snow, Alun's sister and brother-in-law are up in their place in Scotland and I think they are planning to go home to Ilkley sometime over the weekend.

I will pm you if and when I can send one ...I'm beginning to think that I won't be able to again.lol!!

Take care and stay warm.

Speak to you soon.

Not Christmas shopping no Sallie, that is all done. Just a look round different shops.

Mo thank you for the card, almost the first through the letter box but Joyce beat you!!!

Caz, so sorry you are still struggling. We must all pray for a miracle. As Sallie says, please don't worry about cards, we all understand if you are in too much pain to make them. <3 <3 <3

Good morning to whoever is looking in. Quite a nice morning here for early December, dry with a nice blue sky.

I'm not feeling too good at the moment got another cold and because of a few minor family probs during the last I'm afraid 'my old black dog ' has returned. Never mind I've beaten it a few times and I will again.

I have a few things to keep me occupied over the weekend...I shall be glad when all the Christmas cards are done, I didn't realise I have so many to send. I also have to write a letter to my cousin in Bromley to put in with her card.... writing letters isn't one of my favourite chores.lol!!

Mo haven't seen you about for a couple of days, I hope all is well with both you and Roly.

Did you have a darts match on Thursday? If so. hope you and your team won.

Well I'd better get on with some of the jobs I have to do, so will look in again later today.

Hello everybody.

I was going to visit my sister over on the other side of Auckland Harbour today but there is work being done on the Newmarket viaduct this side of the harbour, and the advice is to stay away from it until midday today. I dont fancy taking a detour through the city to try to find the harbour bridge, so I have postponed my visit. I will make my Christmas cards and envelopes instead.

Hello everyone,
Sorry to have been on the missing list since the 30th of November, but I have been having big problems again with this blessed laptop.
If I go missing again, it will be because this flippin things has gone to see the doctor to get mended.
We pay enough insurance each month for it, like private medical insurance, that I dont see why it and myself should suffer for much longer. ;-)

Caz and Sallie, I am sorry to hear that you have both been suffering again. There is enough pressure with Christmas sneaking up on us so fast, that other ailments should now give us a break. Keep trying to smile my friends.

Ann, I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend, and have come home refreshed ready for the onslaught of christmas.
How was your brother in law. I do hope he wasn't to confused whilst you and T were there.

Well, the presents are all bought, the decorations are up, the excitement is growing in the grandchildren, the parents are now sweating and swearing, and hoping that the pennies stretch to what they have left to buy.
We thought it was bad when our children were small, trying to buy suitable presents for them, but these days the children expect so much from their parents, and more fool the parents, they put themselves in debt till the following christmas, just to keep the children happy.

Huia, I hope you got all your cards and envelopes made, without any interuptions.
Will you be visiting Phil on christmas day, and are they holding a party for the residents again this year, where Phil is residing.

I must go now girls, please take good care of yourselves.
Love and best wishes to one and all. Mo xxx

Hi Mo, sorry to hear that your lappy is playing up again, let's hope that it will be OK from now on.

I'm feeling better today apart from another cold and I think I might have a touch of pleurisy, so will just have to see how it goes over the next couple of days.

Jennie and I went along to the Model Railway Club's mini show this afternoon, although it was more of an open day to try and get some new members than a show. I think they spoke to a few people that are interested in joining. Although Michael is no longer a member he always helps them out if the club have something special on

I went back to Jennie's for a while afterwards, until Alun picked me up after they had finished.

Well I have managed to get a good bit organised with all the Christmas cards and presents, now only have the last couple of presents to get for the ones that I haven't a clue on what to get for them. Richard is one of them, my neice and Gracie are the others.

It's very cold here today, I'm just glad to be at home in the warm.

Mo, Ann I'm sure doesn't get home until tomorrow afternoon, they went to Bristol yesterday for two days. I hope they are having agood weekend and that the weather is a bit warmer for them there than it is here.

Huia, it seems as though no matter where we live there is always some roadworks or other going on to cause delays. Still I suppose the roads have to be maintained and repaired for everyon'e safety.

Jean, Caz, Sylvia, Linda and Joyce if you are looking in I hope you are all okay.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 4 Dec 2011 21:27

hello everyone
We are OK here Mum seems to be settling into the residential home and has some of her own things around her to remind her of home, which is nice. I spoke to a couple of the ladies and they seemed pleasant and liked the home for their own needs.
I have been busy preparing for a small wedding reception at home for our eldest daughter and also for Christmas too. So quite busy.
We helped our youngest over the last couple of weeks to gloss paint her hall, doors windows skirting etc, but also her Kitchen , bathroom and lounge doors inside too. Must be mad though she did need the help and was very greatful.
So we decided to employ a decorator to do our lounge next week just before the wedding. I hope he gets it finished and doesn't hit any snags. !!!
Today we have been into Windsor with my youngest brother and his family, we had a Tapas Christmas meal, very nice and good service most enjoyable. Then a good walk round. I got another Christmas gift so that was helpful. Then we went back to their house to chat. A really nice afternoon/evening.
Mo I hope your computer is OK and Sallie I hope you are OK too. Get to the Dr before you get too poorly as you want to be well over Christmas.
Have a good week everyone

Hi Everyone, i am so very sorry that i have not gotten back to thank everyone that contribated (sp) to the beautifull flowers and to thank Sallie for her Christmas card.
My daughters S-I-L was admitted to hospital about a fortnight ago and was on life support for 10 days when she lost the fight for life, the family donated her organs to five people.
Last Subday one of my brothers was admitted to the cardiac unit, blood tests, m.r.i. and x-rays have come back clear, but he is not speaking or seems interested in anything, just lying in bed.
Niece same day had a lump removed from ovary, she is 28 years old to-day and still in hospital. She had a heart attack last year.
So again my apoligizes for not answering but very much appericate your thoughts especially when money is so tight and it so near Christmas time.
P.S. we are having our budget on tuesday. Wish they went after the bankers and their former T.Ds. Big chance though.
Talk soon again.

Hi Linda, lovely to hear from you. So pleased that your mum is settling into the Care Home OK and that there are a couple of nice ladies living there that she is able to have a chat with.

We stripped the wallpaper off our landing and stairs several weeks ago and that's as far as we have got. We were hoping to get it done before Christmas but with both me and Alun having very bad colds a couple of weeks ago we just haven't felt like doing it. So I don't think that it will be done before Christmas, unfortunately.

The pain from the pleurisy is going slowly so hopefully I won't need to visit the doctor. I have suffered from it in the past a couple of times, once when I had pneumonia, so I have to watch it carefully.

Sounds as though you had a lovely day out at Windsor....I love going there when we go to visit Richard.

Good luck with all the preparations for your daughters wedding. Are you having any of your family for Christmas? We are having just Jennie and Michael as Richard is only off on Christmas Day so won't be able to come up.

Mo and Joyce thank you both for your Christmas cards.... sorry I forgot to mention them earlier on.

Love to everyone. Sallie.xxx

Hi all
xx

things are chugging along here.

We are going away for Christmas, to our friends on the Island ................. so I don't have any preparations to do.

We do not put up any decorations when we go away .................. we would normally put them up around the 20th December, and then take them down on 12th Night (January 6). But as we're away from Dec 22 to 27, there doesn't seem any point!

It's been several years since we have actually put up any.

So far we have not made any arrangements for New Year .... but we have spent it just the 2 of us before .............. OH has cooked a nice meal, and we have had a lovely time. We'll probably do the same thing thing this year.

I'm well on the way to recovery ................. just got a little tweaking to do with some stiffness under my arm.
