Hi , Mo,welllll we nearly have the case, finally got to talk to somebody, and the upshot is D is going to divert a few miles on Monday when she goes to, Litchfield, from work. so hope fully we will have it back soon.... it will be such a relief ,thank goodness D is doing o.k. now she is hopefully handling the M.S. and also the diabeties, one very positive lady. we are getting sorted about the kitchen too... so roll on Oct 31st when we go, leaving D to sort any probs out !!! The legs seem so much easier, the tabs I have seem to help....
Finding it easier to walk, so next thing is check up on the 15th at the Glaucoma clinic, then the hearing clinic to check the aids are doing what they are suppose to do,( although I dont wear them all the time ), then a perm week we go away , whew, I am shattered just thinking about it all....
Think I brought you up to date, so no more moaning .....lol....

Thats such good news about D Jean. I hope she is successful in getting your case for you,as you are going to need it again soon.
You are sooo lucky having D there to sort out the kitchen fot you. Just imagine,going away,then coming back to a spanking new kitchen.

I hope you get on o.k on Thursday,at your eye clinic. Do you find out about the hearing aids on the same day.?
It's good that the tablets are working for your legs. It must be such a relief for you.

I wonder if they will be doing an Angiograme,to find out the cause of the attack.
Oooh I am brave then,not putting the heating on.
I suppose my putting the extra layers of clothing on,could have helped.
But I have got so much on,I am having a job to type,especially with the four pairs of gloves I have got on.

Now they have decreased the medication,you may be able to see,just a little,of your old Phil.

Hi All, greetings from a lovely sunny Jersey. I have just returned from a gorgeous walk with 3 of the children, the oldest has gone on the boat fishing with his Dad, so they will be out for a while longer. We have managed to collect an empty bread bag full of conkers and another one full of chestnuts. The chestnuts aren't very big this year, and as it is so warm, we haven't lit our fire yet, so we have been cooking them on the BBQ. They taste ok that way. The children are allowed to play Conkers at school - we have quite a laid back Headteacher, which is so nice. Just don't tell the Health & Safety Police. There is a Conker League going on at school and all the children are so keen it's wonderful.

I have read a lot of the messages, but not all. Ann In Glos, I'll have a look for Hotel details and PM you if that is ok. Only just read your request.

I had a chuckle about not doing things on Sundays. My parents are quite strict to this day about Sundays, even after we have all left home. But when we were at home I remember Dad moaning till he was blue in the face about people mowing their lawns on Sundays.

Loads been going on here as usual. Unfortunately the fisherman whose boat went down, drowned, but at least they have found him and his family will be able to hold a proper funeral. It's very sad, but one of the risks of such an activity.

Mo, I know what you mean about the muddy Winter Activities, so far we haven't had rain so no mud, but I am sure that will come. I don't know if there is much difference in the Mud Covering Quantities between Cross Country & Rugby, all good fun for the washing machine.

I'm off to supervise chestnut cooking and think about tea before the other 2 get home. Have a good Sunday, I won't be here, too many football matches to think about. The one in the afternoon sees Daniels team playing Matthews team, so only a draw will help the harmony in our house tomorrow evening!!!

Mo, just read your message about Christmas shopping. You can come and buy for all of mine if you want. Only the oldest 2 have mobile phones - they were given them for their 12th Birthdays, when they were at secondary school.

I buy very small simple things for stockings (or rather, Father Christmas does), and I may be imagining it, but even the oldest 2 still believe in FC, though they are probably just having me on. They wouldn't dare say anything for fear of not getting a stocking :-)))

Our stocking presents are an apple & orange, crayons, a comic, drawing & writing paper, sweets and simple games or puzzles. They always have bubble bath, or a "designer" shower gel & deodorant for the older 2 these days. But I buy for these things all year, often in packs of 4 and then split the packs, or get the 2 for 1 offers.

We buy them each a Big present from us, but my sister says that all of the Stocking presents (which are sometimes huge) are from Santa, so her 2 boys actually don't receive anything from their parents. I don't think that is quite as nice, but that is how her husband and his family have always celebrated. There are loads of different family traditions aren't there?

And ours have actual stockings, no pillow cases or sacks in this household - that makes us sound so tight, but the children love unwrapping all their tiny little presents on Christmas morning.

It is nice to see how other people celebrate and deal with the present side of things. Happy Dayys.

Nice to hear from you Debbie, and to know that all is well with you and your family.
It's very sad about the fisherman, but at least they have found his body, so can give him a proper funeral, which I'm sure his family will be glad about.
We have also had a lovely sunny day here in Derbyshire, lovely for drying the washing.

Mo, Michael's Dad came home from hospital this morning. He had what I think they call a shunt inserted yesterday--he says that he feels a lot better since they did it, and Jennie was saying that he looks a better colour.
I did a roast dinner today, because we'll be away tomorrow, so Jennie and Michael joined us, as they usually do when we have a roast. Jennie reckons that the roast I make, tastes better than hers. I think she says that because she doesn't like cooking very much.

Where is everyone today? We haven't heard from Ann for a couple of days,
I bet she's doing well with making her cards.

Huia, I hope you had a good nights sleep while your son was there, and that you are feeling better today. Did he manage to get the few jobs done for you.

Jean, you have a busy couple of weeks ahead of you before going away.
Pleased to know that your daughter is coping well with the MS and Diabeties, it's good that she is so positive.

Grace, I hope that at least some of your house problems have been resolved. Thinking about you!

Marilyn and Marie, I expect you are both still kept busy with having your grandchildren staying with you.

Liz, haven't heard from you since you are home. Although, I have been reading your Holiday Diary thread. It looks as though you had a good time.

Debbie,It's good to hear that the game of conkers,is still allowed on the island.
Children through history have always played them. But now some inane person,has deemed it to be to dangerous.
Just what will they stop next,hopscotch or something like that.
We used to take or boys to the local churchyard, to collect them.
We have not eaten chestnuts in years,but we used to like buying them from the chestnut sellers,in little paper cones,yummy they were lovely.
Mind you,I don't think you can beat,eating chips,as they used to be sold,
out of news paper,covered in salt and vinegar.
Debbie,it's not us that is going to be buying the mobile phone. We are the
stocking fillers,and cheap presents.
We are not tight,we just squeek when we walk.
I am glad the family are well. Good luck to the boys for tommorrow,I wont show favouristism.
Sallie I am pleased to hear that Michaels dad is home. Did they fit the shunt,whilst doing the Angiogramme.
Roly has a shunt,to take the fluid away from the brain.
It's surprising how quickly people recover,after what we consider major surgery. But the medical profession take it all in their stride now,don't they.

Mo, yes they fitted the shunt when they did the Angiogramme. As you know
he was really terrified of having it done, but he's said that it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. He's told them all that his chest feels lighter, whatever he means by that. It's amazing what they can do these days, and it all seems so matter of fact. I didn't realise that Roly had a shunt fitted.
How long ago did he have it done?

Debbie, sorry I didn't notice when I first read your post that both Daniel and Matthew are both playing football tomorrow, with them playing in opposing teams, it would probably be good if they draw--for the sake of peace at home! Good luck to them both.

Do you know that I have never tasted chestnuts. Alun tells me that they are lovely--his grandparents, then later his parents, kept a fishmongers, fruiterers and greengrocers shop for many years, and of course they sold chestnuts too.

I'm going to have a nice cup of tea, and I think that I'll get an early night.

Sallie Roly had the shunt fitted in 2002,following his brain bleed,and hydro
kephalis (sp),water on the brain.
I know it's a different part of the body Sallie,but what a change it made.
He also had the angiogramme done,following his heart attack,19 years ago.
I hope all is well with everybody.

HOORAY, we have got the case, well at least D has it.... J is well chuffed some of his undies were in it....my prob was I had put my Nintendo in. I love that little game machine, so I can take it with me when we go to Wales....
along with a tote bag full of craft stuff, if the weather is anything like to day it will be coming back full....... was hoping to get some Christmas cards made....So looking forward to going.....lovely day here , hope it is were you all are....Big waves and hugs to you all.....

Hi there.
Mo, I have had a busy weekend. After the conference at the hospital our son stayed the night and next day we were busy outside tidying up the lawns and gardens a bit. He left about 3pm to go back to Rotorua. My eyes were feeling slightly sore and he said they were bloodshot. I dont remember doing much on Sunday, but the eyes were very sore so Monday (yesterday) I went to the doc. I have conjunctivitis, so in addition to putting eyedrops in (for glaucoma) 3 X a day I now have to put ointment in 3 X a day. I also asked about a scratchy throat which makes me cough, as our choir has only 3 or 4 more rehearsals before the concerts and I dont want to miss them. I am also going to a choral thing in Rotorua the weekend after next so want to be able to sing. She looked at my throat, commented that it was rather red and told me to drink lots of water - apparently tea isnt good enough. I also mentioned the sneezing attacks I get sometimes. I will sneeze 30 times in a row. I cant think of anything that triggers it - I can be sitting here typing away and the nose starts to itch and then the sneezes come. Or I might be watching telly. Or reading the paper. Last week it was at choir practice, the first time I remember it happening in public. All the doc recommended was antihistamines, but she didnt prescribe them. I had some once before when I asked another doc about my sneezes, but they didnt cure it and I dont want to take a.hists. for the rest of my life. The sneezes dont do my throat any good for singing either. I think I will have to ask to see an ENT person some time, see if I can get it sorted. Or is it an allergy? But then it is a totally random thing. Most frustrating.

The social worker is coming to visit again in 6 hours, after which I will be off to town to do a little shopping and go to choir practice in the evening. I must have a look at the music first as there is one piece that I had problems with last week. I havent been as diligent about learning the music as I used to be.

My goodness Huia,you dont do things by half,do you love. Conjuctivitus is awful isn't it,all that junk coming out of your eyes,and talk about itchy.
It does sound like you have got hay fever,or allergic rhinitus. Maybe the doctor could send you for allergy testing,you just never know these days.
I presume that the social worker,is coming to see you re. Phil. I do hope that they are prepared to help you both.
Will you be staying with your son,when you go to Rotorua the weekend after next.? That would be so nice for you,to get a nice break away there.
And of course to sing with the choir.

Mo, we had a lovely day in Wales. First we went out for Sunday lunch to a place in Abergavenny, it was really nice--we've been there several times before and always found the food good, not sure if they have a new chef, as the lunch was the best we have had there. I felt so proud of my brother, having achieved all that he has at his time of life. The Bishop of Monmouth took the service, in one of the churches that my brother is in charge of, it all went off really well and was very enjoyable. As usual, it was nice seeing members of the family, and friends of my brother and sister-in-law.
Michael's dad is alright since he's home, thank you Mo. I think it really frightened him, so now he is wary of what he eats.

Jean, so pleased that you have had your case back, at least you will be able to take your Nintendo with you to Llandudno. I quite envy youJean, a week of doing what you want to do, when you want to.

Huia, I hope that your throat will be better and your sneezes will stop so that you are able to practice in time for you to be able sing when you go to Rotorua. Hope all went well with the social worker, and that you were able to get your shopping done afterwards.

Richard and Christie have arrived tonight instead of tomorrow. I have been busy getting things ready before they arrived, so haven't had time to get on here until now.

Hope everyone is alright. I wonder where all the others are, It seems ages since we've heard from some of them.

Huia, sorry that you have conjunctivitis, it is horrible, I hope it will get better
very soon. Alun suffered from it when he was doing the final exams for his degree. I don't know how he coped with his exams, but he did.

Morning everyone, having trouble sleeping again,Sallie we are off for two weeks, it will take that long to finish everything off.... we are having other jobs done at the same time, poor D has to put up with it all....ha ha......but when we get back we have to put stuff away!!! We went to Abergavenny some years ago,loved it,we were in the Forest of Dean , and toured around , Monmouth is great too and Chepstow,, I would love to go to that area again....

Huia, poor you, all thats going on in your life seems to have caught up with you, I think your body is rebelling a bit, usually stress affects various parts of the body and reacts, and needs building up.... we will be praying for some peace and a easinig of things for you.... Debbie, we used to have chestnuts when the big fair came to town, we also had them at home but the fair ones were the best...

we are off today for the flu jabs, then looking at tiles...see if I can get J to take me out for lunch, but he is totting up how much we are spemding ,,, so wont hold my breath....lol....

Hi all.

The social worker didnt come. I waited an hour and then she phoned to ask if it was today she was supposed to come. She had written me in for 3 different days! She will come tomorrow morning. She came a week ago. I think she is just making sure that I am coping because when I visited Phil a week ago I was in tears the whole time. She wanted to know if I was coping with paying bills etc. I have always done that, so no problems there.

Had a thought when choir practice finished tonight, I hope Phil doesnt die the weekend I am in Rotorua, or the weekend of our concert in November. If he does, I wonder if he could be put in the fridge until I am free. I must start making inquiries about cardboard boxes (I know Phil wont want an expensive fancy one). Also about whether his skin, bones etc can be used for other people - I doubt if his heart etc will be much use at his age. I would also like his brain to be used for research, or for students to practice on. We were down as organ donors years ago, so I am sure he would appreciate it. Do I sound cold and callous planning these things? I am just being realistic and it is better to be prepared.

You are upside down at home,in readiness of kitchen etc.
Plus with your holiday coming up,as well. Theres all the packing,and making sure you don't forget anything.

You mentioning Abergavenny,has reminded me of when I was a child.
My dad was stationed in Crickhowell (sp) near Abergavenny. It was lovely there,and I had a friend whose parents owned a farm there.

I dare say they were concerned about you,seeing as you were so upset.
I am sure that Phil will still be waiting for you,on your return from Rotorua.

Hi Everyone,

Jean, Alun and I like Abergavenny very much, it's a lovely little market town.
We are hoping to down again in a few weeks, there are a couple of shops there, that I can usually find something a bit different, to give for Christmas
presents. I also like the homemade marmalade that they sell in the market, so we get a few jars each time we go down. As Mo's already said, you have got a lot on your mind, with having the kitchen done and thinking of getting all your things together to go on holiday.

Mo, did you live in Crickhowell while your father was stationed there?
Alun and I really love it down that way, after all we are both Monmouthshire born and bred. My brother and sister-in-law live in a bungalow that overlooks the Sugar Loaf mountain, it's a wonderful view.

Huia, I'm sure that nothing will happen to Phil while you are away in Rororua. You will be able to go and not worry too much about Phil--you know that he'll be well looked after while you are there. So, go and do what you enjoy doing best. You have nothing to reproach yourself for, you looked after Phil for as long as you could, so now it's time for you.

Yes Sallie,we had married quarters,when dad was stationed in Crickhowell. I cant remember what it was like there,but I do remember the farm.
I forgot to tell you earlier,I had to go for my jabs today. But the nurse said I was to young to have them,thats the first time in ages that I am to young to have something. So I had a wasted journey.
